I have a feeling we'll go through several box's and packaging material before this is through.

I don't think there was anything wrong with how it was packed, but the postal service really beat the box up (read almost destroyed) in route to me. When I saw it I wondered if any of the 'gars made it at all.

No need for a fiver, but thanks for the offer. I'm enjoying this pass.

I don't know why I felt the need to mention I was repackaging rather than just doing it, other than I was freaking out at what USPS did to the box.

All that aside....barring any objections the box will ship today. Locked and loaded.

I've been eyeing that BTL as well.. Hmm, what would you(anyone) considered equal to a BTL?

Yikes! Glad they made it to you safely!

As for the BTL, it's hard to say... what's rare for one man isn't for another, depending on what part of the country you live in. If it's a cigar you really want, make your best play for it (because of the nature of the rarity of the BTL, I'd accept a two or three cigar trade for it) -- more than likely, if it's a decent play, I'll approve it. If you have a question about a potential trade, email me before you post it here and we can work it out privately.

Hey Pinto -

Be careful to not get that answer before I ship the box to you lol.

Seriously, I for one will be reluctant to complain about anyone's decisions unless they are blatent rip offs(read - if its close teedubbya is silent πŸ™‚

I've got a couple things that come close, but I couldn't part with those because I've been looking forward to them.

By the way, does this pass end? If so, cool. If not, I'd like to stay on the list.

I have a BTL in my pass as well; it is difficult because while it is rare, it is not as rare as odd Opus vitolas, etc.

You can still get them for $30-40 a piece from gouger sites.

cool, I don't think I'll be taking it, just wondering what value was placed on it. I am a big Fuente fan and generally have easy access to most limited edition Fuente Anejo's, Opus, WOAM etc. but have never seen a BTL.

To me a BTL is very near the top of the list in terms of "limited edition".

BTLs typically go for cigars of greater value like a PAM 26 - larger size.

tony,

when you say "value" are you talkin MSRP, or the price on the rip-off sites?

Andy, I'd probably price it somewhere in between. The MSRP of a BTL is $13 (if you can find them, and they usually are marked up way above this) -- and 1926 No. 1's are around $20 MSRP (if you can find them, and they usually are marked up way above this)...

But I've found 1926's at my local B&M -- I've yet to see a BTL anywhere in town.

So it's all relative. Availability + demand = MSRP + X, with X being that unknown amount of $$$ each of us is willing to spend. I'd agree with bassdude that a BTL is equal to a large vitola 1926 (between a $25 - 35 cigar).

For me and my pass I place the value at my B&M's cost which is $16 for a BTL. I do take inot account the rarity but if some one offers a stick that is $5 more I usually take it. In this case ICYO makes the call.

If I could go down to my local B&M and buy a BTL off the shelf, I'd probably price it at what I bought it for -- but I acquired my BTL's from a someone who charged me more than MSRP. Again, it's all relative. If you can buy one off the shelf where you live, that X factor's going to be much lower for you than it is for me. Large vitola 1926's may only be $20 where you live, but where I live, they run $25+, so even the trade value cigar is relative. Some people never have even seen an OpusX, so for them it's a rare cigar. Bottom line, when in doubt ask me or ask the group -- I will more than likely approve any trades that are close.
