This has been fun so let's get some more players involved.
Rules:
Three unbanded cigars- one high end, one medium priced and one enjoyable yard gar.
Please # the cigars and keep the bands so you can tell the trader what they smoked after their review.
Make the cigars to be reviewed random, no certain order (high end, medium priced and yard gar)
To round out a 5ver include two other cigars with bands on that don't appear on cbid auctions.
Must write your three reviews within a month of receiving the cigars.
Once you pick up the offer then ask the question for the next person to pick you up.
Who wants to send me a few cigars to review?

#1 blind review
Nice appear med brown 5x48. Good solid feel with no soft spots. V-cut
This starts out very smooth and creamy. Perfect burn with hints of leather and nutty sweetness.
Half way point picked up in strength med-full. Little bit of coffee taste as well.
This was a very good cigar all the way down to the nub.
If I had to guess this one Headley Grange
Thanks

Cigar #1 from Erjaq
A 6 X 50/52ish torpedo with a darker medium brown wrapper that has some toothy feel through the middle. A few veins on the outside, but nothing major. Solid construction for the most part, but there is one ridge running the length of the stick with a soft hollow feeling next to it. A bit of spice and leather on the pre light draw.

Light with my triple torch by toasting first. As I take the first few draws there is pepper and leather right off the get go. I then noticed that there was a hot hole developing right at the burn line and with the next few draws it burned hotter and seemed to be following a stem. Proceeding through the first third was not much for flavor change, but could have been preoccupied with burn issues as a few touch ups were needed as the top was burning much faster. Upon ashing for the first time, a 1/2 inch solid ember stayed on the bottom half explaining the burn issues. This protruding piece was solid and ran half way into the second third before giving way to a little pressure on the side of the tray. The cigar opened up and burned fine after that, but never changed in its flavor much. Medium strength from the start and it did build to a medium-full as it finished out.

As I was able to sit back and finish the stick it really reminded me of the first MoW I had. I would say with the baby sitting this one required makes it the yard gar of the group or just a bad luck medium.

Thoughts Erjaq and what was it?

My #1 cigar from frozen is a 5x50ish torpedo shaped cigar. Little Maduro in color. Strong cedar smell.
First light. Holy pepper stick. Can't taste anything but pepper. Long oily finish. Tried to retro hale....bad idea. Like snorting mace. Took a couple more draws and let it sit for 2 minutes. I got cool off.

1st third. Still a lot of pepper but it mellowed out alittle, taking on a sweet tobacco finish. Sharp burn massive amount of stout smoke from the foot. Gray ash
2nd third pepper has died down a good bit, taking on a burnt Carmel flavor with a sweet finish. Almost molasses with a touch vanilla. Consistent burn no touch ups. Still a long peppery finish.
3rd bit has transitioned to a creamy Carmely sweet tobacco finish with almost a dried fruity finish. Idk my palate is pretty numb at this point but I almost taste cherry. My mind might be playing tricks on me. Tried a retro hale. Yup definitely tasting cherry on the finish. Almost like a licorice. Getting hot smoked it to a nub

Overall this is definitely a stick I would keep stocked. Crazy transitions. Awesome after dinner smoke.

Looking forward to the other two banded sticks.
the AF Hemmingway, and the Ramon Allones - Specially Selected!! Durn right lookin foward to ashin these two.

Thanks brother.

Nice review, sorry about the construction issues. That was indeed your yard gar, it was a La Aurora Barrel Aged. I haven't actually tried one myself, but picked up a 5er from a guy who bought the box for pretty cheap. Don't remember the exact price.

Hope the other two burn better!

Eh... hopefully the rest don't have the issues that i had for ya. One of my cigars in the first round just blew out on Euodias, so issues can happen at any time. We all just roll with it to the best of our abilities and move on.

Thanks again. I'll see about another one in the next day or two.

Smoke #3 on the golf course today. Bigger ring gauge 56x6. Brought plenty of enjoyment for 9 holes. Was mild to medium, perfect burn and plenty of smoke. Very smooth and creamy with notes of molasses. Should have saved it for the back 9 since it took 2.5 to finish it. WeaponX this was a winner.
Thanks

Cigar #2 from erjaq

Smoked with questionable actions not becoming of a married man.

A 6x48 belicoso with a dark brown satin finish wrapper. Good weight and construction on initial inspection. The foot smells of nuts and chocolate and I nipped 1/4 inch off the rounded head and tested the draw. Surprised as I tasted a hint of cinnamon red hot flavors on the pre-light draw.

As I toasted and lit the cigar the red hots flavor hit and disappeared quickly and evolved to a rich chocolate and nuttiness. The flavor is lingering on my palette and making me feel like almost chewing a candy bar but so much better. The first third took 30 minutes and burn like a razors edge with a bright white, tight ash.

The second third started a transition of flavors. More nuttiness and a strange sweet spicy finish. I'm also tasting this elusive flavor in the back of my tongue but can't quite pin down what it is, but it is great. The ash is holding together for an inch and a half
before showing signs of give. The spice is picking up toward the end of this third, but still a calm spiciness with that sweetness being left to finish. 30 minutes for the second third as well as this stick is burning nice and cool and letting me take the time.

The final third started to give more of a cedar flavor and the spiciness picked up more. Ashed this a total of three times as it held together very well. I even pulled out my homemade finisher to get the most out of this beautiful cigar. Finished it in one hour and 25 minutes total, but now feel like I just cheated on my wife with a cigar.

It was a beautiful day out so I smoked this as my first outside cigar of the year. I had a coke zero to drink as I do with all of my work night cigars, but didn't touch it with this one.

I'm gonna say this is the premium stick in the group.

So, what was it? How much age was on it? And how do I break it to the wife I'm leaving
her for this cigar.

Thank you very much Eric!

LOL, I'm glad you enjoyed it. That was the first stick that I ever fell in love with, too, so it's nice to know that I'm not the only one.

Actually, we're far from the only ones, because that was a Liga Privada No. 9. It was the first box purchase I ever made, which was just about two months ago.

Wow... I've had a few LP no.9s before and never thought that highly of them, but maybe that is because I was expecting so much from the hype.

That is why I love these unbranded trades. You don't know what to expect and just have to take the cigar for what it gives you and this one was amazing.

Now off to buy a damn box of them, as I know the wife won't leave me for that price.

Yeah, this is fun. I'm impressed with the detail in your reviews, and I hope I can come up with the same amount of insight as you do.

For me the dominant flavor in the LP9 is always molasses, or at least that's the flavor that makes it so unique, for me. The construction is always flawless, and I actually thought the foot smoke might give it away as a Liga. I prefer the No. 9 to the T52 by a long shot. The L40 and Dirty Rats were both right there, but I've only had one of each. I've got 2 UF13's that I'll be smoking shortly.

Anyway, the hype surrounding LP is annoying, but for me it was totally justified. JD seems like a bit of a douche, but as long as he's not right next to me while I'm smoking, I'll keep buying his cigars.

I am really long winded at times when writing notes on my cigars, but hey when I go back and compare sticks from previous notes they are mostly the same unless there has been a blend change. Now I need to find my other LP reviews and see why I was so far off before.

Now that you say molasses, that is the sweetness that I could not pull out a flavor for.

I'll be a closet fan boy for now as this is the only one that has really "wowed" me.

Mystery stick #2 from frozen

6x56 toro with a dark brown somewhat toothy wrapper. Heavy weight and tight pack, double cap. The foot smells of chocolate and rich cedar. I used my 50 bmg shell and cut out a massive hole. Quite a bit of resistance, but it'll do.
First light wonderful room notes and a smooth creamy chocolatey smoke with a bit of a wet ashtray finish.
The ashtray flavor disappeared quickly and evolved to a rich chocolate and smooth tobacco smoke. Almost like a hot chocolate flavor. Good clean finish. Mild to medium at most. Good slow burn with a good bit of resistance. But with these flavors it's more about the flavor than the smoke. My whole back porch literally smells of a dark chocolate factory
The second third was the same flavors just richer. Creamy dark cocoa with a hint of creamy sweat tobacco. The ash is holding together for an inch and a half. To the point I'm more worried about wearing it. The spice is picking up toward the end. But still a wonderful flavor.

Then something happens. Closer to the last third. The draw opens wide up and I'm met with a warm dark bakers chocolate smoke. The cigar goes mushy instantly. Still great flavors but becoming so strong it's almost overwhelming. With each draw my mouth is filled with a thick oily smoke that almost takes my breath away.

I'm starting to sweat and get dizzy. But I have a coke zero on the rocks so I push through. I understand now what people mean about got gases. I slow my roll to a draw ever 90 seconds or so.
Everything is becoming very vivid!! Was this thing laced I tell me self. Holy chit!! This is the first stick I've had that transitioned from a mild to full. Knocked my socks off.

Once I backed off my draw ration it mellowed back out and I finished it with a smile on my face.

Overall experience, what a journey, awesome flavors and smoke. I hope this was the yard gar so I can afford to get more. But with the transitions and construction something tells me that was the premo.

What is it??

Thank you frozen awesome stick, I will be ashing more

Cigar #3 from erjaq:

A 5 X 50 robusto of a cinnamon brown color. A little give on the squeeze but still a well constructed cigar with minimal veins on the wrapper. I went with a guillotine cut on this one but just enough to say it was cut. The pre-light draw has hints of cedary wood and some leather.

The first few puffs started with a bit of spicy cedar flavor. The spice is lingering but only for a short bit. The cedar is still prominent but now finishing to a leather and hayish flavor being on the retro hale. Ash fell at about an inch in and some slight canoeing happening on the top, but waiting to see if it straightens out.

A touch-up was required to start the second third. It's been only minor changes in flavor through the second third. It seems to be burning hot and quick, but that might be due to the looser construction and a bit of a breeze tonight. Reminding me of a cc that could use a little extra time.
The final third was a bit spicier and started to get a little more oily. A very habano flavored cigar all the way through with the cedar and bits of leather and spice. Only took 50 minutes to finish this one as it was burning quick.

A good medium stick for sure, just wish it would have developed more of a transition at some point.

Thank you Eric for the cigars to review and I am looking forward to the Tat black and PSD4 that were sent along for the ride.
