"American by Birth & Southern by the Grace of God" is obviously something you'd never understand.
Admittedly, Derek... having been born in Rhode Island, and lived in Georgia when I was 12... it is something I do not understand.
Did God endow southerners with more grace? More wisdom? More... what?
I was made fun of in the south, simply because my accent was different. I was accepted, simply because I played football with ferocity... even though I was "northern and smaller". I tackled a couple of their good ol boys and put a hurtin' on 'em.
After that, I was ok.
But having gone to school in Marietta... I can say the black kids were treated just like everyone else... and that was 1982.
I'll just leave this here for you:
2 Corinthians 12:9 - My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
