Planned on finishing floor replacement in camper this morning but while I was doing it i found another rotten area under some cabinets that I didn't know about.

Missed a roof leak when I did the whole roof last year. So, fixed that (i hope) and will try to finish the floor tomorrow after work.

Grilling chikins. Little bourbon and a smoke. Less than a week before my boys report back for fall practice. This time of year is bittersweet. I'm ready for them to go back to college and resume our "normal" schedule, but will miss them once they leave. Last season for one, maybe both (medical redshirt so has a year of eligibility remaining). Life will be strange next Fall.

I remember very similar feelings of ambivalence from 8 or 9 years ago...but they still come around so I got through it!

My second child turned out to be twins (boy and girl, now 31).

It's kinda an anywhere but here situation.

Gonna try to stay within the hospital so I don't lose my benefits level - pay less for insurance, more retirement matching, more vacation etc

But if it doesn't work out, I'll go to a different system

Parenting twins is so interesting. I know I'll have at least one around, so that will keep Summer normal-ish. But the first Fall in 17 years with no soccer will be very strange.

2 days off after I get back from camping trip.

Booked em both pretty solid with interviews.

The first one Monday morning is the one I'll most likely go with. It's away from bedside but not in administrative role so I'll still be hands on, but in procedural area.

The next one is away from bedside but I gotta do all ages. I don't do pediatrics. Even when I was in ER, I'd trade someone a fever baby and take their belligerent drunk police hold.

Third is management/admin but hourly, not salary. But I'd still be involved directly with the cardiac surgery program and I'm trying to get away from that.

The fourth is general ICU, staff nurse. Easy transition, could probably still keep my week on week off schedule. But I'm tempted to try something new.

Day 2 interviews are with other hospitals, doing the same job I do now. Easy in, and easy switch save for losing vacation time accrual and retirement matching. Would also need to find new family doctors and stuff with different systems.

Good luck man... I changed jobs about 3 years ago... No premonition or anything about oil & gas crashing but I left it at a good time.. I wanted more responsibility and man I got it.. but a good move for sure... Mellow

Awe man, I am with you there, I hated doing pediatrics. I barley love my own kids much less others that are out of control and the parents OMG. Well you know what I mean you been there lol...
