Tom, I've been using some off the shelf inserts to control mine after my last flare up. I pick them up at our local running store. One set for running shoes, another for dress shoes. Immediate relief. Let me know if you want me to figure out the name.

I have some gel inserts I have been meaning to try. I have not had the plantar faciaitus for over a year. I just got out of the routine which i miss a bit. This time around maybe I will be less extreme and not train for 12 hour adventure races, 1/2 marathons and 10k's.

My left knee is aching thinking about this.

I have a set of rigid inserts with high arches that work for me. I wear them when PF flares up, and after a week or so, the PF goes away. Since my knee replacement surgery, I haven't been able to run any more, so I rarely get PF now.

To relieve pain, try using a tennis ball and a frozen bottle of water. Alternate rolling the ball under your arches while you're sitting and watching TV, and then rolling the ice bottle under your arches.

Good luck, Drafter. It's a mofo, but quality of life, pain-free, afterwards is worth the ordeal. If you can, do some walking before surgery to build a strong base for recovery.

Remember: do the physical therapy religiously, get it strong and flexible as quickly as you can...RICE to keep the swelling down. Don't over-do the oxycontin. Switch to non-opioid pain relievers asap...

Arch support - Arch Molds or Sole

https://tinyurl.com/yanj6u7w - I use the blue ones.

https://tinyurl.com/ycvtv5zy - These are more expensive than the Arch Molds on Amazon, but I get them cheaper on base.

Either way, they're damn near identical. Heat 'em up in the oven, stand in them for 2 minutes, they mold to your feet.

As far as running shoes, find a store that will film you running for a short time. I went to Roadrunner Sports. After they filmed me, they said... you have a neutral running style, and you're a heel striker... these shoes are best for you: and they gave me 3 different choices Asics, Mizuno, and one other. I prefer the Asics.

Bullchit. Not one minute? Not a single minute you wouldn't trade?

No arguements, disagreements, no raised voices.

Not even a minute of disappointment, discouragement, nothing?

Have you both been in a coma the last 28 years?

C'mon, Man.

Break it down for your brothers.

I would like to ask the forum in advance for forgiveness regarding the following tastless racial joke:

A Jewish boy asked his dad "Can I have fifty bucks?"
To which the Dad replies: "Forty bucks??? What do you need thirty bucks for???

Long read, short story is I had a blowout while towing camper and bought some new tires and now we're camping.

So, we left to go camping around 3. Did my final walk around with a torque wrench and tire gauge to make sure lugs and pressures were good. All good, even checked the spare on the trailer.

About an hour into the trip, wife complained the Altoids tin in a dash pocket was too noisy and put it inside center console. I felt like the truck was a bit bouncy, but it's been 8 years since I've been on this bit of highway so I just assumed it was the pavement.

Then boom thunk thunk thunk. Started sliding, thought a semi merged into me. Hit the trailer brake to straighten out, then brake pedal. We were in heavy traffic but I got off the shoulder without hitting anyone. Right rear tire blew. Tore up the fender on my truck, whole side of the bed is damaged.

Tried to drop the spare and the secondary latch is seized. Common on these GM trucks. I'd worked on it last year and lived it up really well so it wouldn't be an issue, but it was an issue. Took an hour finally got it down. Unhooked camper and jacked up the truck. Swapped tires and lowered it back down. Tire was not full. Read 50psi (supposed to be 90) jacked it back up and hooked up my 12v air compressor. After about 10 minutes it overheated and shut off. Got it to 60psi. Oh well.

We're on a toll road so not many exits. 5 miles to next. Look for a tire place. Found one and headed there. Manager recognized me from Gridlife and hooked me up. Bought a pair of tires for the rear and he warrantied the blowout (didn't buy em there) so back on the road for $230.

Gotta make insurance claim when we get home... truck got tore up really bad. At least we're all safe. That could have gone very wrong.

Man, Here it is I cant sleep for sh*t. A family relative is coming to visit while he is on leave and in the states. He is in the Army and is now based in Korea. He has been away for a few years. It will be good to see the young fellow and to catch up. He is bringing one of his brothers in arms with him and staying a couple of days. I am looking forward to seeing him. I have missed the old boy for sure. I think I will take the fellows with me to the Drew Estate event Friday and see how that goes. Introduce them to some of the guys and galls there. Kyle is the Rep from Drew Estate, I have met him before and seems to be a rely cool fellow. I think it will be a good few days. Well IF I COULD SLEEP lmaoo. Any How....

It's been in the back of my mind as a nightmare scenario for years. Twice I've seen people towing campers who had blowouts. One jacknifed and just slid a bit. The other jacknifed and flipped. Everybody was ok and I stuck around until ems arrived.

I'm kinda glad it's been in my head and I've mentally prepared for it. Still shook up.

I tend towards New Balance as I wear a 4E. That said, I hear great things about both Brooks and Saucony. I believe Brooks also makes widths, but they are difficult to find here and I need to be fitted due to width.

Never heard of Brooks or Saucony. Then again, I haven't owned a pair of gym shoes in probably close to 20 years. The hot ticket when I was in high school 30+ yrs. ago was Nike.

Guess I'll have to do some research on current brands and see what's what.
