I was heading out to bring my camper back home but had to abandon that plan cause there's no way I'd be able to back it in on wet grass in my 2wd truck.

Got home and basement flooded. But, the sump pit was empty. Pump functioning fine, cycling on and off from the drain tile water coming in.

Turned on the utility tub that's connected to the floor drains and water started coming up the drains. The AC drain and water softener drain are also connected to the tail end of that system.

Tried my little drill attached auger for sinks n stuff but that couldn't do anything nor was it long enough to come in from the big side. Went to Home Depot and rented a big 75 footer. Bit too long to make the turn on the floor drain at the far end of the system so I had to come in from the sump pit side which was a bit tight on space. But I found the clog. Huge mass of what looked like mostly dog hair. I need to put a strainer on the utility tub drain. Once the black stanky ass water started flowing I filled both sides of the tub with hot soapy water and pulled the drain plugs to flush the line. Several more huge masses of dog fur clumps came out.

Ran the auger one more time down the line. I could only get it to go about 30 ft. There's 5 side lines off the main that go to the perimeter of the basement. They used to drain the kitchen, bathroom sinks, and showers. The original septic only had the toilets connected but when I redid the house I put all the plumbing on the septic.

Heading back in a minute to return it, then home to shower and go to bed. I been running on empty too many days in a row.

This may even be more important than a 3/4 ton for my use. I do tow enough to justify 3/4 ton but I get stuck a LOT. At least half the time I leave pavement I need to get the bottle jack and 2x10s outta the back to get me out.

I have an auto locking rear end, which helps tremendously in paved snow. But I think it gets me stuck worse off pavement. At least with an open rear I got stuck immediately. With the locker I get further off pavement and still get stuck.

Looking at the approach to park the camper, thres gonna be only about 4 ft where i have both drive wheels on grass before i hit the gravel driveway with the inner wheel which unfortunately is on the uphill side and might not get me enough bite when it locks to get me there. That'll be tomorrow's project. I have plywood and 2x10s, I think I can make it happen if it doesn't rain again from now till then.

Ordered grass seed from tractor supply. Free shipping over $30 even with the 50lb sacks of seed. Bought 3, and they quote $75 shipping but cross it out to free. Gotta stop at Menards (have rebate certificates) and pick up a few sprinklers to keep things moist.

The timing of all this stuff has been horrible. If it was day 1 of my week off, I'd be fine. But it started day 1 of 7 work nights. No sleep, long nights, and hours of work at home in the morning every day.

Anybody with an open rear is just asking to get stuck immediately.

Yep, hang in there, Danm, seems that you have a hard time catching a break!! I've had a few stretches of life that had me in similar conditions. I'm not gonna complain now, things could be MUCH worse. Such is Life, as I say.

G'Day ALL, keep churning away at this 500, I'm playing Grandpa's daycare this afternoon, tonight and until the oldest daughter can get a nap after her 12 hr midnight shift tonight. 3 year old Grandson is always a HOOT to keep, LOL.

I will be planning on bringing some comical but perverted schitt to share on the Vherf tomorrow night. I just hope the young lady he supposedly assaulted gets some sort of charges against the old perv!!!

DON'T BE BAD!

Bribed an instacart driver to hunt down dry ice for me... made a blueberry syrup, strawberry syrup, and mixed berry syrup... then made white chocolate raspberry ice cream, cookies and cream ice cream, white chocolate blueberry ice cream, and a spectacular failure of a strawberry ice cream...

Gonna smoke a bowl then get back to it... dry ice only lasts so long... got mint from my pops, thinking about a dark chocolate mint ice cream... might make gooey brownies and sacrifice some for a blackberry and cream brownie chunk ice cream...

Oh, these are all good things that are happening. Except the flooded basement, but it's good I got it rodded out. Took 10 years to plug up, should get some time before it happens again. At least I wasn't outta town for a week.

And the septic, it's finally done after knowing it was an issue for ever.

And the tractor in the way which might make my truck stuck, has been stuck in the woods for 8 ish years and maybe it'll just be a tow truck bill to get it gone but it's one step closer to getting gone.

Slept about 5 hours today. Woke up at 3 as usual, but managed to fall back asleep another hour or so.

Back to work.

Flying out again, the Boundry Waters was interesting, glad we went there, but not for us. It was way cool to see a pack of wolves while we were hiking.

I hiked to the bottom of the deepest gorge east of the Mississippi River. (although several places claim the top spot, not sure who is right)

Sore as hell this morning. Maybe I'm getting too old for this sh*t.

Umm, not even a good joke Opel, effort points though. Some exceptionally beautiful territory. Plus get your race tracks right. Lots of interesting racing there, though not stock car. As about a 5 year old I sat in Dan Gurneys car there with him explaining it to me and showing it to me. Then he got a 2 seat sports car and took me out for a few laps. Really a nice man. My parents and I remained friends with him untill his death.

Which spot?

I've got some episodes I can tell about the time wen I was dating a woman that lived just about a mile from one of the "lookouts" at Little River Canyon, just east of Ft. Payne, AL. She was half Yaqui Indian and her half sister worked for the Country music group Alabama. They claim it as the deepest canyon East of the MS River, but you are correct, a fw try and claim to be then deepest. I can definitely admit that at one spot at least it had to be around 800-1000 ft!! YOU could look down and big truck sized boulders looked like little rocks!! I hiked to a pretty cool waterfall one day and watched a guy in a kayak being filmed as he went over the 30+ ft drop, multiple times.

Someone remind me at the Vherf tonight to tell a few of the tales I lived through during that 6-8 month stretch, LMAO!!

The Russell Fork Gorge at Breaks Interstate Park in Virginia/Kentucky. The trails are on the Virginia side of the park.
A low estimate from the canyon rim to the river is 1,300 feet, if you measure from Pine Mountain it's around 1,900 feet, but the trails arent on the Pine Mountain side. Wikipedia says 1,600 feet. Lol So idk. It's at least 1,300.

I had never heard of Little River Canyon until you mentioned it and then I ended up reading about it here: https://blogs.agu.org/thefield/2019/10/11/searching-for-the-deepest-gorge-in-the-appalachian-mountains/

I have visited all 3 of the "Appalachian Plateau" gorges mentioned in this article multiple times and as for the "Blue Ridge Western Piedmont" section Linville Gorge and Tallulah Gorge have been on my list for quite a while, but Linville is getting a little too popular for me. I dont like hiking with a lot of people around. One of my hiking buddies told me to NEVER visit Linville on a weekend.

The Little River Canyon looks like a place to add to my list. The only place I have ever hiked in Alabama is Cheaha Mountain. Its the state highpoint. 2,413 feet isn't really that high in elevation, it's the very southern end of the Blue Ridge, but the prominence of the mountain makes for some great views.
