Appears I can;t catch a break. My wife goes in for her 2nd COvid test in 5 days. She's been running a fever as high as 105°F since we got back from Durango. Our entire house has self quarantined which means no one if going to work. I also found out my uncle who helped raise me is dying from Stage 4 lung cancer last week. It's wrapped around his intestines and stomach with legions on the brain. He's already gone through 10 radiation treatments and doctors won't do any more. With us in possible quarantine for the next two weeks I can't go back to help my family in Pennsylvania. I am without words to the loss and not being able to return.

Our County in CO has been hit harder per capita than Denver due to living in a resort community with visitors and 2nd home owners coming from all over the world.

So a couple months ago when things started opening up here in Misery, we went to this restaurant/bar for dinner. Not our favorite place, but one of the first places willing to risk opening to dine in.
We weren't impressed. It didn't seem like they were trying very hard to actually reduce the risk of covid. The servers didn't wear masks, they used physical menus which I suspect weren't wiped, their table separation was odd (crowds of 4 would be scrunched up on one side of a huge booth around a tiny table, while another group would be at the other side of the booth)... No seating control, so people would wander in, sit wherever, get moved later by a server... Saw a guy get served his food at the bar and start eating there only to get moved to a table later....

Anyway, we didn't go back. I remember saying that if we had a covid outbreak in our town, that's where it would start.

Fast forward to the press release yesterday stating that anyone who went to that place last week needs to get tested due to an outbreak....

Mornin' dudes...

Hang in there, Carl. Two Latin phrases - "Amor Fati" and "Memento Mori".

Translated... love fate and remember you must die. So, no matter what happens, good or bad... embrace it. And if things are going great or going horrible... we all must die, so don't get too high or too low.

My sister and bother in law live in Shorewood, 1town both of Milwaukee on the lake. They are only doing pick up. Multiple places they have taken 1 step in to pick up, turned around and left due to completely full and no masks.

90+ today with 90+ humidity and a very high dew point. Joy! Just finished swimming and an hour of calisthenics. Back up to 185lb. Low was 150lb. Building lean muscle. At 150lb did cool sculpting. Anyone else have money on Regeneron before they announced phase 3? We did quite well selling off.

Been taking collagen. Skin is tightened and regaining elasticity. We entertained 10 couples last night. Definatly different. 16 feet social distancing, outdoors, Italian outdoor kitchen, Better masks than N95's when in close proximity. Fun non the less. Food was great, beverage flowed, kick azz music, multiple dance floors. Separate tables of 4. Each couple brought 2 of their adult kids or 1 adult kid and their significant other.

Fun fact, the character used an axe in the book.

How far away can an object be and still have a gravitational effect on the earth?

Depends on it's mass and distance for practical purposes. In theoretical terms anything with mass has a gravitational effect on the entire Universe. It's better to use a frame when asking this type of question. Now if you had asked how far does Earth's gravity extend, in between theory and practicality you could claim about 4 billion light years... give or take. Though, most would say it doesn't extend beyond our own galaxy(about 100k light years across). I would argue against that though. Andromeda is on a collision course with us and the Earth shares some responsibility for that. (we've got around 4.5 billions years left as a galaxy if we discount anything else happening.)

As an interesting aside. We still use Newton's equations as our base when plotting a "simple" course in our solar system. Bunches of others have added to our math but, you could boil it all down to Newton. Newton's scientific brilliance only lasted between 6 - 8 years (Physics, the invention of calculus, etc). He spent most of his life trying to prove a mix of Theology, Alchemy (Even though chemistry had been well established by this point.) and the Occult explained what he couldn't. He's referred to as "The Last Magician".

Could you please explain quantum gravity in depth first assuming Bohrs is correct, then assuming Einstein is correct? Also is there a third possibility.

Yes, I could. But, brevity was never my strong suit so I'll spare everyone. For now.
Yes. See above.
Yes. Bohrs and Einstein both moved the ball significantly but, didn't get us across the goal line. That's why people came up with String (I refuse to call it a Theory at this point.). String (not a) Theory could work... but, they need to keep ordering out for more dimensions to get the math to work.

In other words, Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus but, we still haven't figured out how to keep the fat bastid from hitting on mom. Christmas 1976, I should never have tried to sneak a peek. Some things CANNOT be unseen.

We're gonna need a bigger pan. Don't go for my head as Thanos suggests. Mine's bone all the way down. Go for the liver, I'll crumple like a Gurkha.

What the hell was in my coffee this morning?! Daddy likes!

(Holy moly! Even I was calling myself a d1ck by the end of that one! I was giggling but, whew. The depth of the mixing bowl for my ego? Bottomless! I had to dig deep into the pools of smugness and arrogance. I recommend everyone take a lap or two though, the water is amazing! Plus, when you get out of the pool your skin glistens like Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool in Fast Times. You all remember that scene. Don't lie!)

Sarcasm

Blame Spey and Victor for this one! Those dirty liberal's just can't help themselves! (Neither can I;-)

I haven’t taken more than three days off in a row on almost six years, think it’s really starting to wear down on me. I’ve noticed I’m extremely irritable and getting burned out. Think I may take a vacation next year, be nice to go to Jamaica or some all inclusive deal, don’t really care about going back to Mexico

We switched to Jamaica from Mexico when Mexico lowered their customs allowance of cigars to 25 per person from 50 per person.
How the hell can we take a 2-3 week vacation with 50 cigars? And buying cigars down there is outrageous. Fakes and ripoff prices. While i miss the cheap beer and food, Jamaica and Belize have been excellent alternatives
Adios Mexico!
