Opel, you're doing the right thing, IMHO. "Stick to your guns", children are wiser than we think, they will eventually understand and if you've been going out of the way to create some sort of better relationship with your wife and her parents and they don't choose to try to do better, there's nothing you can say and even an apology would just be like giving candy to a bratty kid to satisfy the little schitt!!!

And, dammit, my honesty when I checked in for tomorrow's Dr appointment just forced me to have to run to then local clinic to get a COVID "fast test", although they might still try and put me off, even if it's negative until the can get the PDR lab results, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I'm fairly sure that my slightly sore throat is from the pollen, long weekend and getting just a tad dehydrated.
