Seem to remember a few weeks back you introducing the concept of not politicizing things? I liked the concept.

Seems like the actions aren’t matching words, which is disappointing.

There are a couple thousand threads here which divide us into two, dysfunctional tribes. Do we need another?

HAPPY National Freezer Pop Day !

I prefer lemon-ice - actually Italian ice in various flavors.

Another humid day with thunderstorms. Off for a blood test for me and a Dr. appointment for the Mrs.

Fishing was pretty good yesterday. We finally got the yellowtail to bite! Smaller grade than we're used to seeing... 8-10 lb'ers... but still fun. 6 yellowtail, 5 calico bass is what we kept. Lots of barracuda and smaller bass released.

Are you suggesting naming a 500 thread after a famous black athlete who fought against segregation is somehow political and somehow leads to a logical divide?

Sounds stupid and racist when I say it, huh?

Not much into track and field but for something totally unrelated... Charlie Joiner as a member of "Air Coryell" was fun to watch as a kid. Fouts, Muncie, Winslow, Joiner, and Jefferson were the original Greatest Show on Turf.

WGAF about a ball slapper? Do you know anything about Bessie Coleman without using Google or duckduckgo?

So the self-righteous virtue-signaling haven't a clue who was the first black woman aviator in the US.

Quote:
Bessie Coleman was an early American civil aviator. She was the first African-American woman and first Native American to hold a pilot license. She earned her license from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale on June 15, 1921, and was the first Black person to earn an international pilot's license.

This reminds me of the time they sent out a crossword puzzle for Black History Month at work. All the answers were related to Black history. There was only one person that scored 100%, unbelievably, it was that old white guy, me.

Back in the day my two favorite AFC teams were the Chargers and the Oilers. Who doesn't like Earl Campbell with the tear away jerseys. I had an action figure of Earl Campbell when I was a kid. He had speed, agility and wrecking ball power.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkmQNSRVAOg

In my opinion, he's right up there with Barry Sanders and Walter Payton as the mostest funnest RB's to watch in their era. Problem with Sanders and Payton is my Packers had to face them at least twice a year which was painful for my home team.

Just a good reader/observer, but someone will be offended, but I hope offended enough to do reflect on that image in the mirror instead of people.

So, let me be clear... if IDGAS about some previous tennis player, or if I feel it is an inappropriate topic for the 500 "bullchit" threads... that somehow makes me a racist?

Nope. I reject that notion completely.

I really DGAS either way... I'm just trying to follow the fked up logic going on in the thread.

My last 500 I named after nero... zero complaints on your end...

Now a black woman whose professional tennis career contains exactly zero amount of controversy by today's standards is mentioned in the 500 thread title and you think it's "inappropriate"...

That doesn't sound racist at all...

Yeah. I'm married to a Filipina. My brother in law is Puerto Rican. Got nieces and nephews that are half white-half black, more that are white/hispanic/black... a family reunion literally has black, white, hispanic and asian... and I'm a racist.

LMFAO!

I thought the nero thread was dumb, too... but you won, so you named it. Okay.

I don't have a problem with this one, either. What I have a problem with is you assuming anyone who objects is racist.

That's just absurd.

You were suggesting that anyone scared off by, or ignorant of, your thread title (or too lazy to read the OP) was a racist. There I found it. Also, I found waldo and Hunter's other laptop.

Congrats on knowing an obscure but significant historical figure who broke a racial barrier, Claiming that anyone who doesn't also know about this person, or doesn't care about this person, is racist, is divisive and unhelpful. Some people just don't care about tennis. Or history. Or reading.

Who is that? Raise your hand if that was you and I'll talk to you personally about how offended you are...

OP could GAF less about title or contents, what I was referring to keep it short when naming a 500. That's all folks. Alias you won so you do what you want.

At my first non-University of Hawaii football game, I saw San Diego State vs. Long Beach State in Nov. 1969. Don Coryell was the SDS head coach, Dennis Shaw the QB. LBS had an awesome RB named Leon Burns, a former Marine, that was a man amongst boys. He simply ran over people. The game was awesomely entertaining as SDS would throw their way down the field while LBS kept running the ball down SDS’s throat. Was a high scoring, multiple lead-changing affair but I got to watch Air Coryell before it had a name.

It's 3 words long, but ok...

I never once had any suspicions about your motive for having said what you did... figured you were giving me grief for the semi-obscure reference to a relatively unknown tennis player and I retorted with what I thought was a witty response...
