Started picking the 1st of the fall planting of tomatoes called Husky Reds. Delicious!

Also the Meyer lemons are starting to ripen and as usual there are hundreds but they are smaller size in general this year than last year. Some are ready to pick and others won't be ripe for 1-2 more months.

made two batches of latkes, about 60 total.
Having a little Chanukkah gathering this Sunday cuz several can't make it during the weekend days of the actual 8 day holiday.
Always made them the day of the party in the past but was told I could freeze them if I don't blot them and then they should crisp up when popped in the oven...
expecting about 15 people, gonna have to remind them the latkes are appetizers!

Probably should mail one to ThunderGerbil, he adores 'em.

Shocker against Spain.

That Portugal game was a bloodletting.

Morocco must have pissed their pants when they saw that result.

That could be an Fugly result when those 2 meet

Mornin Ya'll... I've been a busy beaver the last couple weeks...

I purchased land with a mobile home and a 44X32 garage with a loft that sits on 3 other lots. two of which are 100 frontage X89 deep the 3rd being 100 frontage X 119 deep. back in 2010. I sold my commercial building located in this town and moved my woodshop into the garage area (zoned residential) at that time the zoning board commissioner stopped in to see where I requested a permit from the city to erect a fence to contain my pets. during our discussion he informed me that I could not move my business from a Commercial to a Residential location. I informed him that I was Mail order anyways so this would not affect my business in any way? he then asked me by chance what did I end up giving (financially) for my property? I looked at him and said Well Ron, I gave enough I own it! he then stated well the city has 51 work from home businesses in this town and they are working on shutting them down. I told him to Get on it!!! as he was leaving my property I asked.. Hey Ron you still running a Taxidermy business out of your garage at your home? how are you zoned? (that did not set weill with him to this day) So now for the past 2 1/2 years I've been trying to get my lots rezoned to CG from Residential with this city and zoning commissioner countering me at every move. Now they are telling me I'll need a lawyer? I just last Friday (special meeting for my zoning issue) submitted all the required documents making sure my I's were dotted and T's crossed and out of the 5 members present all but one voted Nea. but it will still go to city council for final vote process. the zoning board has 30 days to submit they're findings to the council. I hit them with a FOIA request and received 1500 pages dating from the inception of the zoning board in 1992 to present along with copies of the city council meeting minutes from 1992 to current. and Brothers let me tell you of findings "Many in Violation of their own written Ordinances. I feel that if anyone should need to hire a lawyer to a simple fix these money's for such a reason will come out of their pockets not mine.

My goal is to get my woodshop back up and running and with the remaining property the Mrs. and I plan on installing 27 storage units which will be revenue to the city and assist the community with storing their ****, because there is a waiting list for people wanting a place to store their crap not only in this town but surrounding towns in a 25 mile radius. I'm simply trying to secure a nest egg for the Mrs. and I's retirement!!!

These A$$ clowns are infringing on our rights!!!

Men like James Madison and Alexander Hamilton understood that prosperity depends upon the security and certainty of property rights and designed the Constitution accordingly. The common law does evolve slowly to reflect changes in both technology and social mores, but it provides a stable set of rules of conduct.

Thanks!!! It shouldn't be a fight at all... out of the 1500 pages over the years I can show a pattern as to where certain zoning board and city council memebers were granted permits for rezoning and other cumminity members were denied even with Lawyers present. there is an opening coming up for both a zoning board member and an elected position for Alderman. I am running for both... Law says if you cannot beat them, join them!!! That is how you Right a Wrong... I probably won't get the zoning board position, but city council Alderman position is elected by the people and I'm just rounding up my Cannon Fodder!!! it will be up to the citizens of this community to decide if they want "Transparency" in their local Government?

That is the best way. You might want to contact The Institute for Justice, they are good about fighting city government nazies.

I might look into that? as of right now I have a friend who's childhood friend is a zoning and real estate attorney out of Chicago who's going to look into this little towns zoning practices. I'm just sifting through 1500 pages of BullChit so that she doesn't have to. I've comprised many documents that are not adding up... Who knows if I actually might have to take these clowns to court? they might end up financing our retirement plans?

Getting some hits on "real" jobs searches. Still playing both sides of the job search: Process/manufacturing engr and the new degree in IT/Cybersecurity. Ideally I'd like to roll them up into one and do both areas of work in the right environment.

- Phone interview earlier this week for manf engineering job (big company that that makes office furniture stuff), but haven't heard back yet so it's probably a go.

- Phone interview this Friday for process engineer/CAD SolidWorks stuff for a company that designs and makes pumps, tanks, cooling towers. They are also interested in me wearing another hat as local IT support (my recent degree). Haven't done any SolidWorks stuff in like 6 yrs so kinda rusty on that end. I know one of the CAD design engineers there so I have an insider track that should help. Adding more 3D CAD experience to the resume can only help for any future employment.

- Another video interview next week with a company that is mostly a contract position for IT support with the the local school district and such. Not really sure on this one... I'm a little cautious. It's a small start up IT consulting and contract company. Like 30 people but they have contracts with the local schools and municipalities for IT support (thanks to the COVID lock downs with remote classes and companies that want to do some work from home remote stuff).

- Have a few more that want to do phone interviews but the location of the businesses are not what I want (hour commute on a good day). I'll entertain the idea since it doesn't hurt to practice on doing interviews but it likely will be a non starter on my end.

Can't predict the future, just roll with it. So far, I don't regret putting my professional career aside working at Wally World for a couple of years during the lock down and going back to school to get another bachelors degree. Walmart paid for it 100% so it was kinda hard to pass up that opportunity.

End result... it appears that I've made myself more marketable and opened up some doors that were not available to me before. Goal is to stay local and not have to drive spending 10% of my daily life sitting in commuter traffic. I've done that for too long and I'm not getting any younger.

I wish nothing but the best for you. YOU earned it. Remember to savor the flavor as you grow into your IT roles. Yes, if you stick with it you will have many. This is how I've made a very successful life and I still enjoy it today as much as I did when I started.
