83/50. one mph breexe 1% chance of rain. A "Chamber of Commerce" day, so to speak!

Tile in master bath remodel was supposed to be completed, but several boxes came in cracked so we are waiting for like 2 boxes of tile to finish up. The plumber needs to come back to fix a mistake and the shower glass will be installed next week. All, but done!

Got a quote from an old friend who is a painter. Cabinets and walls will probably be next week too. Can't wait.

Swam Sunday and yesterday so today I need time off.

Nothing much to do today except lay about, read and watch somme tv.

Mowed the leaves again for a couple hours. Went to menards for bird seed.

Think I'm done for the day. Back to work tomorrow.

Jasper Nitschke, the cat, seems to have lost or misplaced his play ball bell thingies. He plays soccer with them night and day. At last tally there are 4 lost or under something outside his reach or hidden somewhere. He's on his last of the package of 5 that I bought for him. Good thing: they keep him exercised running around chasing it. Bad thing: at 3 AM and he bolts around it wakes you up. It's rather funny to watch as he carries it around like a dog. I swear he was a dog in a past life.

It would be interesting to see him chase a mouse. I don't want or think there will be any mice coming in the house but if they do look for a safe haven from the weather and free food, he'll sniff it out. Hopefully he'd just kill it rather than bring it to me as a gift to share.

Bucky get Jasper a couple of empty cardboard boxes and watch the fun begin. He will jump into almost immediately.

I went to Walmart a couple weeks ago and bought 40 lbs sunflower seed, 40 lbs of mixed seed, 10 lbs Finch food and an 8 pack of suet cakes. It cost 90 dollars for that. Steep price, even "in these times."

19 hours and 42 minutes working at the shpo. Wednesday Guy not working tomorrow, so going in for a couple hours for some additional cash gravy. Before that, a mid morning doctor appoint. Not sure why I have an additional appointment. Probably another healthcare money grab.

I spend more on wild bird feed than I do on chicken, dog, and cat food combined.

Took the last of the chili I made out of the freezer for lunch tomorrow. Gonna have to make another batch this weekend. Might have to buy some kidney beans (yes, my chili uses both black beans and kidney beans), some hot sausage (prolly have a pound or two in the freezer but I'll have to look). Definitely gonna have to buy some tomato sauce and tomato paste. I think I used the last cans up when I made some pasta sauce.

HR sent me an email and I need to burn some vacation time this year since I can only carry 40 hrs over to next year I'll likely have more than the 40 hrs by the end of the year. Use it or lose it so need to figure out when to burn some vacation time. Maybe just use it for calling out for snow days or extra days off in the holiday season (shrug). It's not high on my priority list at this time.

First world problems..

I get unlimited PTO. It’s not uncommon in Silicon Valley. Meanwhile quarterly bonuses are tied to utilization. The Silicon Valley culture tends to lend towards the prize going to the ones who use the least amount of PTO.

I used to get 25 days of paid vacation and 20 days paid sick leave. Almost never used anywhere near that and you could roll over the vacation days only. A few years before I retired they changed the roll over provision so you had to take it or lose it but whatever had been accrued was grandfathered. My last check included 166 days of vacation.

I told them after pointing out the former commanders and current. violated the very Ordinance Laws they have been enforcing on others. to date the Illinois Attorney Generals office has responded (but not fast enough) 8 months now and they refuse to tell the Mrs. and I how our property is zoned so I've been going to meeting standing be "for the Record" and dropping their skeletons in their lap from February to October and under the FOIA/OMA Act of Illinois, they cannot stop such actions. SO much so that my 1st amendment rights have been restricted to 2-minute floor time while others on the agenda for the floor are not put on a timer for 2 minutes and your cookies are baked!!! Brick wall

I've uncovered so much Chit with FOIA's on Finances, Treasury reports that do not add up, used COVID funds in a General Fund and covered overdrafts on other accounts a Restriction that the Federal Government is Investigating all over this Nation!!! Shame on you Shame on you d'oh!

No bears where you and Robert are from? Around here in western mass if we put out bird feed the bears and squirrels take it. The squirrels can be outsmarted but the bears just smash the feeders. One of our neighbors had a bird's nest on one of the beams of their back deck two stories up. A bear skipped the stairs and climbed the outside beams to get the bird eggs.

I get a lot, earning 240 hours PTO/yr and can roll over 360. Most years I roll over 360 and get a nice payout at the end of the year for my excess. But this year I cashed in 250 hours to buy my new car and I used 48 hours for call offs and another 48 for vacation requests so I won't get an end of year payout.

Back to work.

HHD Ram n dudes.

Just blew and mowed leaves now I smell like 2 stroke exhaust before work. No time to shower gotta leave in 3 minutes.

Private practice referral from Tricare. Was absolutely not waiting for the f'n VA. They finally sent the referral and set up an appointment... for December. Tricare doc referred me on Oct 30th, they called me same day, and I saw them today.

They've already got the ball rolling.

Used to take me three days of work for each single day out when I worked at the law firm. And, I remember the beginning of faxes and the benefits and problems they created. That went on for years until the integration of the cell phone, internet and laptops . By then, I opened my own business. Later, overnighting me each day's mail both ways helped out 90%.That is when I started spending one month at the beach every summer- worked on the beach or by the pool (at The Ginn- living the high-life), whenever I had to. Scanners enhanced things x 1,000. Now with Zoom and such, Today, I probably wouldn't even have to go into the office, other than to meet face to face with clients. My how things have changed! And, I remember the beginning of faxes and the benefits and problems they created. fog

The VA is run by the government. It's entirely inefficient, idiotic, and way behind current medicine. The doctors are overworked and underpaid. I don't think many of them stick around for very long. Not any good ones.

Just finished open enrollment. Costs went up again. $186 more per paycheck for a $15k deductible plan. I hate this so much.

Looks like the tobacco free "discount" increased so it's just $86 more per check. Still crazy expensive.
