Wifey is making a little over 6-1/2 lbs. of Chinese style sweet-sour spareribs in the Crockpot. It’s the first time she’s using the CP for this particular dish so not sure how it’s gonna turn out. Think

Another 40 tamales made and relaxing in a sauna for a couple hours.

Kitchen's cleaned.

I'm over it. Not making tamales again until I forget about how much work it is. And never buying another $10/lb select brisket.

Bought some of that Peppermint stuff. I’m warding off rogue chipmunks attempting to chew their way into the garage.
Seems to be working for the moment.

3 inches of snow today.

Tha game was high up on the Scoville Scale. Niners linebacker gets ejected along with Philly’s head of security!

That’s a Philly Thing.

I'll gladly allow chipmunks in the garage as long as I don't have to shovel the snow. Talked with my mom this morning and she likes the snow. A couple neighbor kids come over to clear it out.

My parents pay them nicely to take care of the snow in the winter, the grass in the summer, leaves in the fall and stuff. Plus she makes them homemade cookies and goodies.

Old school neighbors helping neighbors. You can't put a price on that.

You’d feel differently if a chipmunk crawled up against the warm engine and decided to chew up $900 worth wiring under the hood.

FedEx tracking never updated after the last one saying package damaged.

About 8pm a FedEx truck dropped off a long and heavy box that had no signs of damage except for a sticker. Softopper is here.

Instructions said it would take about an hour to install. Had to enlist the wife for a couple snaps while I put everything I had into stretching it to get the snap lined up. It does say wait for warm sunny day but I cranked the garage up to 85 and sweated my ass off. Took about an hour.

I mostly like it. I think it looks kinda cheap, but it is the cheap option for a camper shell. Speaking of campers I laid down in the bed and I fit laying diagonal so this will be perfect for track events if there's not enough rental camper beds.

They say you can only go to touch less carwashes. I thought no big deal they claim it goes on and off in minutes. But the mounting rails that are bolted on have a lot of things the carwash brushes will snag and break or bend so it's just gonna stay on and we'll see what happens.

Took the boys crushed cans to the scrapyard. Lowest prices I've ever seen for scrap. $160/ton for gen steel scrap (a low price is 200/t average has been 220-230) and aluminum down to 0.30/lb typical low 40c, and usually sit on em until I get 50c. Even auto cast which has been consistently 250/t was down to 180.

Wasn't really worth it. When I was a kid and I rode my bike around picking up cans filling trash bags on a wagon bungeed to my bike seat I'd get 65c/lb and find a coupon in the paper for an additional 5-10c/lb. And that was mid 90s so that's equivalent to 1.27/lb today.

Dug in the closet for a long sleeve button shirt that isn't quilted flannel or denim. Theres a few but they're older than my job at the hospital and despite dropping 50+lbs they're still too small.

Briefly thought about buying a new one but decided I'll just go to the interview in scrubs. Got a 5 hour class after the interview too.

Been going through the closet. Have not dropped 50lbs and am giving up on a number shirts and such I've been hoarding.

Figure if I don't have them, I'm bound to need the smaller size in the near future and be forced to purchase again. Foolproof weight loss plan

Good luck, Dan. Get that dream.
I’ve got probably ten pairs of dress pants and twenty professional shirts hanging virtually untouched in the two years I’ve been retired. Couple days ago, wife asked if she could get rid of them.

Why? They are perfectly good.

Could have been imagining, but thought I heard a Marge Simpsonlike grrrr.

Interview went better than my last two.

Biggest concern is scheduling. It's a position that has never existed. When we were building it and running the pilot 3 years ago that was something I didn't have a solution to that appeased the suits. There will only be 6 people for the new department, 4 full time (3x12s/wk) and 2 part time (2x 12s/wk) so she said "you will not have control over your schedule" at least until things are up and running and can be tweaked for unforeseen needs n stuff. Something I need to really consider.

Since I helped build the job, and ran the pilot, the job is what I want. But I don't want to give up Gridlife job either. I asked about vacations n stuff she said well probably have to cover vacation shifts within the department. Only 2 are scheduled per shift so if one's out, someone will need to cover the missing person. I dont think I'm willing to do that. But it's a kink that will be sorted once things are rolling.

I need to think about it but maybe I sit back and let other people get it up and running and jump in at a future opening. One of the perks of having the resource team is it would free me up as the night charge nurse as I wouldn't have to run all over the hospital. So maybe that would improve my quality of life enough I'd be happy where I'm at already.

And then what happens if the team doesn't pan out? I'd lose the perks of seniority if I went back to where I am, and that's really the only thing that keeps me where I am.

I dunno. Lots to consider.

My rule of thumb on non-dress, long-sleeve winter shirts that if I don't wear one for two years, it goes. Short-sleave, warm-weather shirts, get one year since I wear them more frequency.

Have three pairs of jeans, several pairs of khakis and chinos (like 4-5 pair total). They never go out of style so they only
go when they don't fit, are stained or worn.

I threw out all my suits, sport coats, dress pants and most ties when I retired and bought one single suit since then. Virtually never wear it, which keeps it pristine, compared to the old, discarded others (and several dress pants).

Can alwys buy nice, new, stuff here and there!
