I paid for the death of 100's of thousands of innocent Iraqi's. I'm pretty f*cking pissed off about that. How about you?

I'd rather spend that money on rehabilitating drug addicts in this country than killing innocent people all over the damn world, but hey, that's me.

Summer camp my ass.

Sarcasm ...dead up ahead...stop now if you must..

What about the losers that diddle little kids...you forgot how you want to save them too!

Oh...baby seals...can't forget the baby seals and the clubbing...that's horrific.

The abortion mills...nevermind the 100's of 1000's of innocent Iraqis! You could skip on down to your local Planned Parenthood and do a little dumpster diving and swim in the blood of a feti that doesn't matter right here in America!

And no...nobody but Jade and perhaps TW would want to go to your ass summer camp!Frying pan

No, it's not right to charge a kid $150,000 for a bachelor's in philosophy. Then again, it's their choice. They don't have to do it to continue living. Apples and oranges. I'm asking you (I don't know), what percentage of American's have, $10k in liquid savings? $20k? $30k? When I say liquid, I mean immediable accessible for situations like the ones are discussing.

So who is to blame for Americans not having $10k in liquid savings? $20k? $30k? Do we blame those Americans for how they chose to exercise their freedom. Perhaps we should establish a government agency to siphon off a certain portion of their wages to establish a minimum $10K cash account.

We could call it the Department of Savings Enforcement. You can't get a car loan or a mortgage or a big screen TV until your account is filled up completely.

Get over it. President George W Obama and the US Congress thought it was worthwhile and they aren't asking you if you're pissed.

President Obama also didn't ask you about medicare for all but they did arrange some neat town meetings to discuss how they were going to create 20% more customers for the insurance and drug companies and pay for it with magic money.

I know it's going to sound heartless, but they guy is a leach.

He was working part time, which means no insurance through his employer.
Why not work a second job so he could afford private healthcare? He know his back and feet were aching from his previous full time jobs.

Instead, he devises a plan where the taxpayers have to pay for the police action, the court fees, and now his room, board, security and health bills.

Then, when it's all over and down with, he plans on collecting SS and going to the beach.

Isn't that special?
Friggin bum should include "working on the chain gang until he can't walk no more in order to pay back his debt to society".
But I guess he forgot to add that last part.

Really.

If he is all phuched up physically to work one part-time job, how he is he going to work two jobs much less one?
While he is in jail, let him get his healthcare/back and feet surgery. THEN put his azz working on the chain gang, to pay back his debt to society. You'll get more mileage out of him. What good is putting his azz to work if he can barely walk and/or stand-up? Then when he's released , again put his azz to work to collect back the cost of medical care and the cost housing and feeding his azz while in jail.....or just take the total cost out of his SS.....so much for going to the beach.

We have been great to our people compared to much of the world. We have been every bit as good as we can be based on how much money we have plus whatever money we could borrow.

WTF???......oh yeah, this country has treated all it's people with the uttermost respect and decency, that every American Citizen deserves as a HUMAN BEING, since it's very beginnings as a country.......Yeah...right. If anybody believes that, then they also believe RAH is going to pay up that box of flying pigs he owes.

The point of the story, was that the finance degree was irrelevant. d'oh! $150/month coverage will cover you if something goes terribly wrong. For smaller stuff there are clinics. $150/month is affordable on minimum wage. I know first hand. i know its cheaper for me cause I am young, but I am assuming at his coke job he had coverage, if he went on cobra coverage after he was laid off (or fired) he wouldnt have had any continuance issues.

Cobra coverage doesn't cost only $150 a month, try $400-$500+ a month. Doubt he would had been able to afford that working part-time, or collecting unemployment.

the what if game is fun to play.

Funny,.....that's exactly what you are doing here, playing the what if game. you're just switching the what ifs with assumptions....same difference. You're quick to assume/judge just as quick as some people here were ridiculing/judging you and your $150/month coverage. Some people so quick to the ridicule , that you felt you needed to explain yourself to them.

By the way M, you did what you had to do. You did what you needed to do to get thru a rough patch in life.
And you did it the way you thought was right, without breaking any laws or hurting other people.
You don't OWE an explanation here to anyone what you did, and why you did, much less why your coverage is only $150. Are they paying it for you? Hell no. You don't need to explain yourself to anybody.

There may have been a few off years. So how much more money should be taken out of your paycheck to get us more "respect and decency" points?

This is the problem with great and noble causes. When you start putting a price tag on it, everybody thinks they should be exempt and someone else should be the payer.

MT, you take me to think that you should've had insurance, but that's not the case. Kudos to you for having it. Nor am I defending ObamaCare. Frankly it was done all wrong.

I'm just pointing out how flawed our healthcare system was and still is.

ObamaCare is not the solution, and it hurts the cause of real solutions to help fix our healthcare system.

But please don't act like our current or previous systems are any good. We spend twice what other industrialized nations do on health care, and have lower life expectancies and higher infant mortality. Pretty sad. But also, don't blame all the problems on ObamaCare. It's not good, and something needs to be done, but the system was broken even before it existed.

A 10k dedictable is the same as no insurance when 10k would force you to declare bankruptcy.

Do you get my point?

What tweoijfoi is getting at is....10k deductible is not goin to help much if you get a long-term illness such as , god forbid, cancer. I have a friend who had cancer. Thought he had the best insurance his money could buy, thought everything was covered. He survived and is alive, but he lost everything. Had to declare bankruptcy. Had to go through his life savings, sell everything, so he could fight for his life, for his family.

and on another subject....first of all..I don't think Obamacare is the solution/answer. Don't care for it at all...what so ever. But it seems like alot of people think that before this Obamacare mess, that everything was terrific, fantastic, fine and dandy, hunky dory and all that and then some from the word go, when it came to our healthcare system.

Wow.

Back to the OP, that guy has highjacked my retirement plan, to rob a bank when I'm like 70 and cant work anymore.

I'd get a nice clean place to live, three meals a day, health care, all the sex I wanted and more, TV, library, internet.

Better then Shady Acres managed care home for sure.
