EVs have a ways to go. Government should not be picking winners and losers as they generally suck pretty badly at that, just look at Solyndra. Couple people coming to the rescue of the government bureaucrats pointing to incandescent lights as a win for government mandates; but they lack the historical context. Government forced CFC bulbs onto the public years back and then discovered that they had small amounts of mercury in them; they also were touted to last for years and ended up burning out within weeks or months. Mercury in the home - great job Washington.... When it comes to Government, color me skeptical and for good reason. The main issue with EV's here in the Midwest is range and charging. Range is decent nowadays, but you have cooler weather here and that saps the range. In town is ok - then you can charge at home. Road trips are another thing - jury still out on that. The bloated infracstructure bill had something like 4.5 billion in spending for hundreds of fast charging stations, the rollout of that bloated program by Biden and team has absolutely sucked. There are only 5 completed charging stations after 2 years....FIVE. There remains a looong laundry list of materials that are going to limit EV's; haven't even mentioned the electrical grid, battery replacement cost, electrical cost going up, etc. Until I hear about several modern nuclear plants being built, EVs are destined for mid 15% range in market share......no matter how irate the screaming old man gets.
