I don't see our #s being exact at all. I came up with a total of 8% minority. You said 20% black plus all the rest. Where did you get that figure, or did I miss something in you post somewhere?

O.K., I think I get it. You're talking about the general figure of Canadians (11,682,680). 20% of that is 2,336,536. Add that to my figure of 3,283,540 total minorities and you get 5,620,076 roughly just over 14%, again being very generous with the ethnicities that I counted. That figure is still well under 1/2 of America's 34%. So again I must respectfully ask you how you think you're qualified to criticize America?

P.S. What kinds of affirmative action type laws do you guys have?

O.K., I screwed some figures up. I didn't get enough sleep last night. My new figures show minorities in Canada at about 19%. Still about 1/2 of America's.

There are 5,600,000 visible minorities. Our senses' definition of visible minority does not include aboriginal (1 million) or metis (300,000). It also does not include Caucasian minority groups from Eastern Europe, etc. If you add the aboriginals and Metis without adding the Caucasian, we're at 24%, add the Caucasian minorities, we’re pretty close. Still 1 in 4 people living in Canada is a minority and there is a higher concentration in the urban areas where I live.

I never criticized America and was very careful not to portray that. I am just as qualified to give an opinion as the next. We are 90% influenced by your television. We have 1 national T.V station, the rest are American. I drive an American Car and where American close.

My whole point if you read my past posts is that although 1 in 4 is a visible minority in my country, there isn't the discrimination here that is portrayed on your television networks. I attribute that to us having more social values. That’s all

If you can get the CBC by satellite, which is our national station and you can find a single program that addresses a Canadian Discrimination issue. I will send you a box of smokes.

I’m not the only person from this board that shares some of the same views, and they are American.

To sum it all up I am for the underprivileged getting a leg up, somehow through debating with Robby and tailgater this conversation turned a little competitive. I think I will stick to my real qualification and that is telling you how much better Cuban’s are than the Domestic variety. Hehehe.

Fair enough Lim. We can agree to disagree about racism. As your antagonists here have pointed out, qualification decisions based on race IS racism. There is no way to escape that fundamental fact. Some of us believe that if we are to ever be free from racism, we must put an end to it wherever it rears its ugly head.

Very interesting and very compelling. You just hit the nail ON THE HEAD! Do you remember Baghdad Bob? How he stood their and said incredible things, lied straight faced to the camera? Well I've commented for decades, that the media "in general terms" simply loves to stir the pot. Here in Atlanta, it's a nightly event. At least once a night, during the news, they have their race bating story. It's always the way the news is reported, i.e., Baghdad Bob, there are no American's at our Airport. The liberal media here in Atlanta, a city that is majority African American, clearly has an agenda. So the reporting and the reality don't always coalesce...

Yes there is discrimination, both ways. There are blacks who don't care for whites, and vice versa. But it isn't as rampant as the media would have you believe. I lived in Hawaii for 8 months in the 70s and whites were appx. 8% of the population, we were hated. I had many friends who were beaten for no other reason than they were white. I never experienced this personally. In fact, I used to take my guitar and go down to Honolulu beach park and walk up to groups of natives and sit and have a beer and play.

It goes to show, it's the individual, not their group affiliation that is important. We should treat people as people, not groups.

Robby, I never did disagree with you that rasism is rasism. I even said that affirmative action isn't fair. But every man for himself is just going back to the wild west. I have some social values, but you wouldn't believe how capitalistic I am. But maybe I am a bleading heart. I can tell you this, nobody is skipping the line when my family is need of a life saving operation. I want the minorities to have the tools to give back to society. If there is a better way, I'm for it, I already said that. The same issues face both of our great nations. The race thing just doesn't get eaten up by the media or society here.

Let me know your impressions of the Black Pearl when your done.

Holy Sh#% it was good. Full body and peppery with a sweet under tone. Many here know I wasn't a huge fan of the domestic variety, but thanks to some trades and bombs. I’ve been pointed in the right direction. The Black pearl was just awesome. You know I haven’t been able to smoke a lot of domestics more than 1/2 down. The AF Cuban Beli and the black pearl past the finger burning test. Also the Super Feurte Maduro Toro TinMan sent me, I would include. So far the Black Pearl takes the cake. Tomorrows smoke is a drew estate TinMan sent.

I actually had my first Black Pearl last night and am in full agreement. Must have more. I'm on a quest for tasting with the good ol' 5-pack method. I will be bidding on a box of Pearls soon, however.

The Black Pearl was a recomendation to me in my first days on this forum and I made a promise not to divulge their secret info. Other than a review of a Buc Classico Maddie (basically demanded from the Buc purists) this is my first broken promise. Like I've said before, I feel it's the right of the old timers to hand out info. to the newbies as they did for me. Good luck to the poor guy doing a search for Black Pearls and finding this post. He's going to have to read it down to here. 🙂

BTW, just finished that Torano Exodous '59 Torp that Chris sent you with a glass of Evan Williams single barrle bourbon. Not going to review it but let's just say I'm feelin' pretty good. Woo hoo!

My wife took My baby girl, Jocelyn to her Aunt's in Placerville (about an hour and a half towards Tahoe from Sacramento) so I got a weekend pass. My drummer's on the way over for a night of debauchery with Calzones liquor etc. and Die Another Day on my not often enough used HDTV/5.1 Surround system. How does the Pearl stack up to your precious Cubans?

I must say that the black pearl stacks up to any cuban. I just like that strong taste without the harshness. Of course I can buy a 5 pack of Pearls for the price of one Cuban, so I think they'll win out as the staple, until I go to Cuba. I do have to say that a good Cuban takes me to a different place though.

Ok thanks alot, I was thinking about bringing that Exodus with me tonight to the inlaws as a second smoke. now I'll just have to wait til tomorrow. Well I'll smoke it a while after the Drew or on Sunday.

I will say that the draw on mine was a bit tough. May be because it was OTT and could be a little wet. Took me awhile to finish (lost track of time, I'd estimate an hour and a half or more) but it gave me quite a buzz. I'll wait to hear your impressions before I say more.

Was going to Smoke it on Sunday, but my seasonal Allergies have been acting up and sometimes I get a bit Of Asthma. Last time was June of 2000. Got my inhaler today. Should be good to in a couple of days.
