i recently read that blantons makes a cask strength, some where around 134 to 136 proof, but it is not for sale in the united states, am i the only one that see's something wrong with that? its made in kentucky, its americans spirit, a drink that was created by us for us to enjoy..but yet this amazing nectar is not being made available to us to buy and drink..

Rock Hill Farms.......

On the nose I get candy, kind of like a bowl of those hard candies your grandmother always had on the coffee table, cherry and vanilla.

On the palette tobacco, chocolate, fruit cake and oak.

The finish is citrus and wet leather.

Overall I give it ThumpUp ThumpUp

Thank you Frank for an outstanding bourbon I may have otherwise overlooked.

man i scored big time..i went to binnys to see if they got anymore shipments of elmer T lee in and they did not, i look up and what did my virgin eyes see? 4 bottles of stagg jr!!! this chit is so rare and hard to find in these parts, barrel proof at 135, and they only wanted $49.99 per bottle..usually when i have seen these they were no less then $79.99..so i bought 2 bottles and im starting to think tomorrow i may go back and buy the other 2 if they are still left, also for the hell of it i went by the beer section and picked up a mixture of guinness, sam adams, and a few other brands around $120 worth of beer so around 3 cases worth and 2 fifths of bourbon..gona go take care of some things now and then in the evening going to retire to the garage with a beer, shot of STAGG!!! and a stogie..today it was good to be tony..

i was at a cigar shop the other day and some guys were talking about bourbon and cigars and they ere going back and forth about which cigars they have and how long they been ageing and it got me thinking, that is one advantage or pro cigars and us cigar smokers have over bourbon..once bourbon leaves the barrel thats it, ts done ageing that process is killed and over with..but with cigars they dont have to be sitting on the farm, or factory, or warehouse to age..we can continue the ageing the process in our own homes..i wish their was a way to do so also with bourbon..you know buy 2 bottles of 10 year old bourbon open one and age the other for another 10 years..i know sounds stupid but ive always wish there was a way..

Denali:

At least one company gives you that opportunity with their Single Malt or their Rye.

http://www.copperfox.biz/products/

They are pretty local to me. I sent Whistle a bottle of their pot-stilled Single Malt to try out. We'll wait for him to get home and give us a review.

You can.

Buy a barrel, buy a couple bottles, put in barrel and let it sit.

It's going to taste a lot different due to the different wood though. Unless the distillery sells their used barrels (and does small batch barrel aging)) There's a few craft distillerys that do 5 gallon barrels. I've bought a barrel from one in Michigan a few years ago and ran a couple batches of beer through it until the flavor was shot.

http://www.1000oaksbarrel.com/

I'm thinking maybe find some white whiskey and barrel it yourself.
