The rest of the line I have not been impressed with......especially at its price point.Their single malt was good, not extraordinary but good.BUT I can get a bottle of McCallan's 12 sherry oak for about 20-40 bones cheaper(the price for the Balcones Single Malt varies incredibly down here) .........and the McCallan's IMHO is far superior single malt.
So I found me a bottle of Rumble, think it was $58. I really don't know what category it fits in, maybe whiskey, maybe rum, though it is neither, it competes well at 47% abv.
From the front label:
a Texas wildflower honey, turbinado sugar, and mission fig spirit.
from the back label (batch R14-9 date 9/19/14)
a spirit that defies categorization... (the mixture) is fermented together and twice distilled in traditional copper pot stills... matured in premium oak casks... and proofed down using natural Texas hill country spring water...a culinary concept born of cross-category composition.
I like it. Had some neat and some with two ice cubes last night.
Did I mention I like it?
Tyyler sent me a nip of True Blue Cask Strength 62.2% whiskey from Balcones a few years back. Wouldn't have been something I could drink with any regularity, too "corny" for me. But I have heard some good things about their single malt, granted that was from sales people at a cool local shpo, though they have proven to be reliable.
