because there wasn't enough seating? Hopefully the boat won't be as crowded, so problem solved...

long ride back was beneficial for me last time...I was whupped after catching all the fish and reeling them up (and I didn't land as many as Ant and MACS) ... even bringing the weight up when the Captain wanted to move to find another spot was getting tough...gotta do some arm and hands and finger exercises the next few days before we go, to avoid cramping up...maybe I'll go strangle some homeless people...

When i went out last month, i got my butt kicked right away... been doing some light dumbbell lifting since then... hoping that helps a bit...

My forearms cramped up a little... but only because I was trying to muscle the fish up quickly.

I'm bringing my 2 speed Avet reel this time. BigGrin

Looks like there's gonna be some wind come Sunday... but a high of 68 and sunny skies... I'll be surprised if the boat doesn't end up close to full now that the ling cod bite is improving...

Still 20 spots left... that's surprising... this might be a light load trip for the price of a full load...

Do you normally wear shorts or jeans on the boat? Is it particularly cold out in the water?

I typically wear a pair of work boots, thick socks, sturdy jeans, a short or long sleeve t, a hooded sweatshirt, a beanie, sunglasses, and a pair of gloves i can use while i smoke a cigar...

Captain Brad will be wearing sandals and short sleeves... I've also been out with brads 5 year old son who was running around the boat wearing shorts and cowboy boots...

It's definitely up to you how you wanna dress... the 3 hours we spend getting to the spot (assuming we go to San Martin) will be the coldest... room inside the cabin is limited.... i stand outside in the cold and smoke, hence the warm clothes...

Weather forecast is constantly changing... right now they're predicting a high of 68, mostly cloudy, wind up to 15mph...

5 days to book, still 20 spots available...

If everyone gets in early enough Saturday, we can go to the

MORRO BAY SAFE BOATING DAY

Boating safety advocates locally and across the U.S. have teamed up to promote safe and responsible boating, including consistent life jacket wear every time boaters are on the water, during National Safe Boating Week, held from May 19-25, 2018. Join us.

I usually wear shorts and my fishing boots, with a long sleeve microfiber hoodie and a t-shirt over it. Then a sweatshirt over that. As long as my core is warm, i'm good.

Don't need to color coordinate when everything has a rainbow pattern.

Yah...depends on if it'll be sunny or overcast...68 with the sun out would be ok for shorts...not so much if overcast...you could put on a pair of lightweight shorts under long pants, and if it gets warm enough...

Definitely would NOT wear flip flops on a crowded fishing boat...dropped hooks, fishing pliers, knives and tackle, pieces of bait, flopping fish with sharp points and teeth are all possible feet slicers...even thin soled running shoes could be a risk...

as for Saturday's post arrival activities...was planning to bring up some marinated tri-tip steaks for the grill, to go with some tater tots and a salad for dinner...we usually like to kick back upon arrival and enjoy a beverage and a smoke and conversation...and repeat after dinner...

Dammm...MACS is a one-man GDP booster...gonna haul some azz...

gonna miss the TRD...

You mean after the boat safety show thingy, right? I don't think macs has ever gotten a tour of a real sheriff's boat before...

Seriously, i have no idea why there are 20 spots left on the boat so far... i looked around to see what big event might be going on that would keep people away... boat safety show was the only thing i saw, and i can't imagine that would draw a big crowd...

Has more to do with getting a place with enough beds before the days we need are taken. Next year you can wait until the last minute and pitch a tent in the back yard.

.... the guy who wears a speedo to exercise in the pool is wayyyy less questionable than the guy who requests someone wear a speedo for a fishing trip.

We'll have a few walk-ons, I'm sure. Still hope we're going to Cape St Martin. That 4 hours of frantic fishing was well worth the 3 hour ride.

I'm bringing a camera with me i think... figure I'll take some time to try and get some clips of everyone catching at least one big fish... i dunno if that'll actually happen... hard to stop fishing once i start... might just have to get clips of people eating fish tacos...
