Just put the puppy down after 16 years. We had a great ride. Even though it was inevitable and certainly the right thing to do I'm pretty freaking sad right now.

Keep the chin up, Gummy. A lot of good years is worth the misery related to the loss. It always gets better, and happy memories come back.

Went on a charter fishing trip that was arranged by a guy at work. Just work folks and their kids.

I caught nothing. I think we had 10 or 12 keeper fish for 40 people. The biggest fish was 2 lbs. I remember why I got my own boat.

Big storm last night cooled things off nicely. The pool took a beating from the neighbor's trees but an hour of back-flushing and all is good to go.

Afternoon all! Been a while, but then again, I get busy during the Summer. Anyway, hopped on the site to see if I could find some of my personal favorite cigars for a decent price, My Father Le Bijou, of course, but the price was high, so only one fiver for now. Well, you all have a wonderful summer and smoke a few Gars for me!

Car went into the dealership for a little steering issue... apparently there's an engine recall... if it passes the test, they add another 5 years to the 10 year warranty.... if it fails, it gets a new engine...

What car?

Impressed they voluntarily brought that up. It's usually pulling teeth to get the dealership to cover recalls I bring the car in for. I keep an eye out for TSBs and recalls. Usually do my own work, but if it's a recall they can deal with it.

They even tried to charge me a service fee for the Takata airbag recall, which wasn't even money out the company's pocket. I had to call corporate customer service line to complain and get my car released. It was like $20 or something, but they shouldn't be charging for a recall so I escalated it.

Oh wow.

I actually had another tab open on build and price for Optima.

Had one as a rental and liked it, was looking to see if it was feasible to replace wife's car with one.

The big selling point on ours was a really big trunk without sacrificing leg room in the back seat...

Dealership just called... car passed the engine test... 5 more years on the warranty, a free oil change, and the steering issue is fixed... took em less than 3 hours...

Gummy, I missed that as well. Sorry for your loss, brother.

Been in Atlanta this week working on an acquisition. The next 8 months are going to be... busy. And I’ve had a job offer (internally) that would be extraordinarily lucrative but miserable. Leaning towards taking a pass, although the money would be nice. I’ll get the high pressure selling on it traveling back to BHM tomorrow.

Same for me, most of the time. I was asleep by 7pm yesterday, woke up at 1:30am... an hour+ before the alarm.

I never get to bet before midnight... Just can't. Usually 1am...
I just avoid getting up before 7 so I can get a decent amount of sleep.

Hell... We didn't finish dinner last night until 11pm... Sure not going to bed immediately after....

Saw a study they did once where patients slept for x amount of hours... immediately upon waking they were given a test where they were given a word and asked to give back the first word that popped in their head (word connotation?)... the people with more than (i think) 8 or 9 hours of sleep, came back with negative words something like 90% of the time vs. 40-50% of the time for people with less than 8 hours sleep...

I should probably look for the actual study, those numbers are probably way off...
