Smoked 2 cigars (monte 2 and a QdO corona) while catching 2 trout. My buddy only got one, so he gave it to me. Cleaned and refrigerated for momma.

Brisket looking good... foiled for the finish. Gotta do some burnt ends.

Currently sitting in the recliner with a small glass of Aberlour 18.

sounds perfect!

not impressed...he blew off cleaning the coop...HA!

Wife was on me about that...

I argued that I set the traps again, and let the coop stank linger so maybe I can catch another chicken killer before we buy a bunch of chicks to make a new flock.

Set one trap inside the coop, so if the one I shot this morning wasn't the one breaking in, I can get the one that was the real killer.

Tomorrow I'll clean the coop while the ground's frozen.

I want an IR light and scope combo so I can camp out on the deck and pick em off. Their eyeballs light up with the decklights and the two lights I have in the trees out back, but can't see position or movement so a face shot is all I can aim for, and that's a rare hit.

Stuff arrived today.

Went almost a week without a washer/dryer/refrigerator... With a week of travel before that it meant we had to hit a per pound laundromat... Have only been eating food that doesn't require refrigeration...

Haven't had anywhere to sit in the house until today.

Now I'm sure I'll have to spend the weekend unpacking.

Ya know... I'm really, really good at barbecue. Brisket is done, and it's frickin' amazing.

Letting it rest for 10 minutes before I separate the flat/point and make burnt ends.

My heart is gonna assplode.

Got plans to help tap some trees tomorrow at the dunes for maple syrup time.

And I hate the drive to KCMO.

Caught another raccoon on the trailcam climbing into the coop. Had the snapper trap in the coop so that one's dead.

Leaving soon to go play with trees and make some maple syrup.

Dunno if you got kids/grandkids but maple sugar time is this weekend at chellsburg farm up by the dunes. Kinda fun way to kill a few hours with the kids.

Deep river county park does it as well, but a week or two later.

Rain.

I thought it never rained in Southern California? Someone needs to tell it to the weather, because it's been raining A LOT.

Currently 52 degrees.

Prediction for mid-month is mid-60's and partly sunny.

There is a potato chip company called Deep River. They make a Horseradish and Aged Cheddar chip which is a real knee knocker.

It's worth it to kill 30 minutes or so, get outside and walk around.

Dress warm though.

We went to the dunes afterwards and walked along the beach. The ice is really impressive this year. We're gonna hike a trail or two but boy's sick and the Tylenol had worn off so he was feeling crappy.

Hit up Shoreline Brewery for lunch as is our tradition after hiking at the dunes

Craigslist sellers are killing me.

I want a set of OEM wheels for the wife's new car. Don't want aftermarket because I want to make sure they get cleaned at the automatic car wash. Don't wanna be hand scrubbing nothing.

I'm on the fourth set I've found in three days now. Only one has replied to me. I asked if they were still available and if I could meetup late Saturday or anytime Sunday, or whenever they were free. I gave them my phone number to call or text, told them I would be coming from 2 hours away but free all day everyday till Wednesday. I got an email back with just "yes", I asked for a phone call or text or email with day and time and location. And now 12 hours later I've not gotten a followup. None of them listed a phone number or I'd be calling.

In my mind, if you're sitting on something you wanna trade for $500 cash money, it's worth spending 10 minutes making contact and setting up a plan to do the exchange. I'm not asking for delivery or even a midpoint meetup spot. Only offered $50 less than asking on one of the sets listed and never heard back from that one anyway. I don't get it. $500 to get something out of your garage, that you've asked someone to take out of your garage for that amount, shouldn't require pulling teeth for some communication.

Even if I do hear back, I'm really hesitant to drive 2 hours to pickup now...

I'm not the greatest with timely communication, but this is ridiculous. I hate people.
