funny how we create so many excuses to collectively drink excessively: Cinco de Mayo, St, Patricks's Day, Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Super Bowl Sunday, College Football Saturdays, NFL Sundays, March Madness, New Years Eve, my birthday, your birthday, wife's birthday, kids' birthdays, Friday nights,

Continued minor inconveniences really wrecked the last day.

Woke up to 35 degrees and foreceast saying rain till noon. Went outside to make breakfast and I'm outta propane for the grill. Unbolt one of the propane tanks from the camper and hook it up to the grill. Must've loosened a bit of rust or dirt because the regulator crapped out. Some zipties and a piece of a nail I pulled from a cabinet and I forced the valve to stay open. Still struggled to get hot but managed to make breakfast.

My dad's truck needs a weight distribution hitch, which I removed from his camper and took with me when I got the truck. Went to hitch up and the thing was missing a piece (found it in the mud when I returned the truck n stuff). Had to drive to town and get some hardware to make a new thing.

Pulled the camper to the dump station and the dump hole in the ground is pretty far from the curb, and my sewer hose is short. Stretched it out, held it down with my foot and leaned all the way back to pull the valve. As the chit/piss stew cascaded down the hose, the hose split and got me right in the face/neck/chest. Had a spare hose in a box somewhere, so went searching for that after wiping what I could off of me. Hose had no end on it to attach to the camper. Other campers are lining up a ways behind me while I duct taped a solo cup with the bottom cut out between the busted hose and the new hose. Got the tanks emptied. Changed my shirt and ran to the bathroom to wash up as best I could. Guess it was good it was cold, the human excrement stew stayed refrigerated and didn't have time to fester.

Hit the road. Humans, dogs, and camper made it home safely.

Tomorrow gotta get on the phone to try to find prices to get a new transmission in my truck. Not sure what I'm going to do though, replace or trade in. Just got wife a new car, not looking for two car notes but also not looking for a $4k repair bill on my rusty truck that needs a lot of other things replaced soon too.

Was thinking that on the drive home.

Really do need to work more. Used to work a lot, but cut a deal in 2015 for a week on week off schedule.

Don't think I can get ahead sticking with that. Signed up for another 24 hours this week. Was nice while it lasted I guess.

Technically the **** came out the middle, not the end.

Was a rough weekend though. Glad vacation's over and I can get back to work.

Mowed the dry parts of the lawn uneventfully, so that was good.

Beers and cigar time.

Morning, off to the cardiologist this morning - looks like I'll have to scrape the frost off the windows. No rain predicted today - just cloudy with sunshine for the weekend.

Good morning.
Just found an amazing lease deal on a Honda Pilot. We have been waiting for something like this for a couple months now. Anyhow, I am going to take my wife to the dealership today for a new car. Mom works at the dealership, so we will probably get one or more discounts and in and out of there in 2 hours. Gonna miss the first playoff game unless I can watch it at the dealership. Maybe I will even get laid this afternoon. We'll see...

Do car leases prohibit smoking cigars in the vehicle?

If so, I guess I'll never be leasing....not that it was ever something I seriously considered. My father leased for a few years, but he fretted so much over the mileage that it drove the rest of us nuts. Besides, I'm the opposite of youse guys that baby your cars. I beat the crap out of mine....and, it likes it.

Big toe on the right foot has been irritated for about the last six months from my 4-5 mile daily walks. Yesterday I slammed my left big toe against one of those concrete curbs while going to the gym. Immediately turn black and blue with blood under the nail. Now I limp on both sides so it just looks like I'm walking on hot coals.

Was smoking a cigarette and an open Coors light on a coaster at the front counter. Don't think he's shaved in 20 years. Couldn't tell if he was wearing pants or a skirt though, counter was chest height.

Asked me what it was doing, I told him slipping reverse and had a first gear lockout code that I cleared with code reader and hesitates to downshift when braking hard, also hunts at high speed.

He only wrote down my phone number and "slips R". Said he'll call later today. Pretty much confirmed my suspicion that it's gonna be a pull and replace job. Gotta decide on a number now. I figure $5k would be my upper limit. That would be a year's payment on a new truck, and most tranny swap places will give you a year warranty so I don't think I'd be ahead either way if 5k or under. But trade in value on my truck is about 6k, so maybe I take the 5k instead of spending 5k... I'm not sure.

Praying for a repair instead of swap. If they can replace the reverse band, flush it out and send me off I'll be happy. Also will be shopping for a new truck.
