Opie seems to have some kind of tranny thing going lately. Danny needs a tranny.

Asparagus froze overnite - wife not happy after going out to pick some.

You can buy a roll of clear plastic sheeting from home depot for like $25... I use it to build little greenhouses around frost-susceptible plants.... Lasts for years...

Got it but didn't think about using it. Also have a bunch of old blankets for frost cover.

Too hot and humid. Although compared to our 43 and rain, I'd take it (for a day or two).

Had to put my waders on and unclog the culvert again today.

When I finally got the plug broken free, it came out like a giant log of mud and leaves. 1 foot around and a good 8 feet long shot out like a missile. Thankfully I was on the downstream side, pretty sure I could've been sucked in from the other end. But the other end was at least 6 feet deep.

Culvert was about half blocked with mud n stuff before. Now it's wide open, and the water cut the ditch deeper than the bottom of the culvert so should be a good while before it blocks up again.

I've got 4 acres. The house is built on fill to sit higher. Basically the basement floor is natural grade height. The empty lot next door I bought sits at grade, and has about 6 inches of standing water. The back of both lots is an acre of woods each, but the empty lot hits swamp. Right now the swamp is a lake and the woods are a swamp.

My burn barrel has water up to the first ring, so probably about a foot deep. My burn pile is in an area that's always wet so the fire doesn't spread. Can't even get to it right now without hip waders on.

Went out with rubber boots to clear the ditch in the back yard and sunk in over the tops of the boots. I've lost 3 rubber boots under the mud in the last 10 years around this time of year. Saved this pair though.

Did a thing, got muddy and wet.

Now front yard is slightly less muddy and wet.

Also, driveway is in less danger of collapsing into the wet muddy water again.

Head for high ground. If you need to stay afloat, use the kids. Kids are buoyant

Moving takes money. I don't have that right now.

Just a few more years and this house will be paid off and I can consider it. June 2022 is my last mortgage payment.

Cinco De Mayo is a big holiday in Mexico. One year we were there on May 5 and saw a big parade in the hotel zone.

There is no truth to the rumor that it's all about the Titanic sinking with Hellmans Mayo on board that was destined for Mexico. I didn't snopes it tho.

Been thinking of growing a beard but every time I get about 1-2 weeks of growth the wifey doesn't like it. Says it makes me look old. I tell her that I AM old and iffn' she wanted a younger guy she should have married one.

She says she'll take it under advisement.

Sounds like the same conversation I had with Mrs. Rman yesterday...I went and got a regular haircut and shaved off the beard, she said she loves it, makes me look much younger...I told her the girl at the gas station was flirting with me, and she said maybe I should grow it back...fog

Funny....I was growing my beard out since around Thanksgiving. I was getting a little tired of it and talked of going back to a long stubble look for the past month. Couldn't get my wife to commit to an opinion one way or another, even though I asked her almost daily..."Whatever you want.." So I shaved it off a couple days ago and caught hell....oh well...it'll grow back by Thanksgiving, I guess

Nothing yet. I'll give em a ring tomorrow. It's a small two bay shop, so I wasn't anticipating a quick answer.
