Same general area. Likely an aftershock and the USGS says it was 7.1 magnitude... and yet I still remained seated in the recliner.

My wife yelled from downstairs something about "lets go outside". Meh... TV still works, lights still on, only a shimmy and a shake. If it really rattles sh*t, you'll see me go outside.

Felt it slightly in the Scottsdale area 350 miles away. Local station keeps showing swimming pools waving.

Finally dry enough to mow 90% of the lawn.

At the gas station refilling my tank. Already burned two tanks of gas in 3 hours and still got about an hour to go.

Digging a small patio... 11x7ft... I'm tired and hot... And I've only got about 6-8" deep...

This is making me rethink how I'll dispose of the wife in the future... Digging is hard work

Got the lawn all knocked down. Even did the whole ditch which was chest high on the islands. Water level hasn't been low enough to get to it all this year.

Fixed the toilet that was leaking for a few weeks, just needed a flapper.

Trans in my truck was acting up a bit more today. Especially on turns and hills, so I added a half quart even though it was reading in-range on the dipstick. Working fine now. Maybe a little squirt of tranny fluid is all I needed. AC didn't last with that can I added yesterday.

Went shopping for trackday bbq thing. Got the rest of the meats. Camper and house fridges are very full. Stopped at GFS and put in an order to pickup 1200 buns on Thursday.

Think I got everything but the buns now. And veggie burgers. Haven't found those under a buck a piece, and that was at whole foods! Going to Aldi tomorrow to pickup stuff for me to eat for the three days, gonna see what they got. Haven't checked Wal-Mart either.

Premixing the rub and putting it in mason jars to cut down on one prep step. Wish I had a vacuum sealer to prerub the butts. Might need to get butcher twine since I got boneless butts?

danm is pretty adept at arranging visits to the tranny dude...a little squirt of tranny fluid every now and then, indeed...

wouldn't worry about the twine since you'll be pulling those butts after they're done...loose pieces will result in more "bark"... unless you need room in your smoker...twined roasts will take up less space....

Pretty sure space will be filled, but thinking if I foil em 6 hours in, shouldn't have to worry about overcooking the loose bits.

I'm thinking renting a spit and doing whole hog may be cheaper. Will explore that next year. Might be too much work though.

Temp outside dropped from 90 to 70 pretty quickly, but no storms in the forecast. Feels like there's a storm coming but radar is clear.

I gathered up the chickens and closed the coop, moved the grill back under the eaves, ready for a storm. But then I checked the radar and it's clear.

Time for some Woodford and Tatuaje on the deck.

Dog walk started the day. Spent most of the day with a good friend who lost his Brother Thursday. Good therapy for us both.

Had a Bud light Clamato. Gave me a quick buzz.

It's been three years since I had one. It will be another three years.

I've never found a pizza joint worse than little Caesar's.

I've eaten some crap pizza, but LC takes the cake.

Tired.... Got the hole dug... Probably about a foot deep 7x11... put in a weed barrier and hauled gravel into it.

Tomorrow I'll put a bit more gravel in and sand and start laying stoned.

I like Dominos now.

10 years ago they were garbage.

Now it's greasy salty drunk food heaven.

Still not good pizza. We've got Aurelios for that. If you're ever in the Chicagoland area, that's the place to go IMO unless you want deep dish.

got up early and shut off the AC...yay.
good thunderstorms last night and that cleared out the lingering heat and humidity.
windows open and the day looks gorgeous, though probably too cool for the beach.
great cigar weather...

I like Gelsosomos for this. There's a tangy bite to their sauce that elevates their pies. Though they only cover NWI, not the entirety of Chicagoland.

Morning, Ram and the rest of youse
