Get a job in a jail as a nurse. Our nurses don't do sh*t. Dispense meds, do a bit of sick call... and if there is ever a question... the f*ckers send the inmates to the hospital... taking one of my staff, and costing the taxpayers a lot of money.

Liability don'tcha know...

Let's see what 5 hours of fractured sleep, 30 ounces of coffee, a double espresso and no breakfast gets me.

I can't get much more psychotic than I am already.

Yes, I more understanding of that than most normal civilians. My situation is more of an moderate uphill hike compared to the sheer mountain cliff many of the military people here had to climb. A much more expensive piper to pay, and the piper keeps taking.

Always appreciate the perspective, Brother. Thank you.

Got big plans for getting stuff done today... and I've got a 5 year old daughter who just crapped all over those plans by deciding she's not feeling well enough to go to school...

4th beer got put in the fermenter last night. This was a simple one using an extract kit... but I think I screwed it up anyway.

Specific gravity was supposed to be 1.084 when it went into the fermenter... I only got 1.056.... I suspect I may not have a correct volume on my fermenter, I may have added too much water. Ah well, this was just a random kit I was gonna run. It's gotta sit like 3 months so I'll do a real batch in between.

Sometimes I miss brewing.

Then I cook something and do dishes and remember why I gave up on brewing. I hate washing dishes.

The cedar wax wings returned last week... they're slightly smaller in number than they were in spring... they'll hang out for a few weeks, ravage some fields, and destroy the view on some cars windshields - just passing time the way birds do... they've no decisions to make or plans to see through - such things are predetermined for the wax wing... it's to weather now - fickle woman that she is - that the next move belongs...

The western blue birds returned just this morning... this is just a pit stop for them as well... the yard is safe - relatively speaking - for birds of such color... they'll find good company amongst the yellow and olive tinged warblers, the resident blue jays, and the rose colored house finches...

I admire the birds for their lack of care...

Slept in, ran to wine shop and dry cleaners, now on the deck watching the rain. No cigar smoking, scotch drinking deer yet. I’ll set them up if they come by, though. Hopefully without red font. It’s subtlety is clearly lost on me.

Made some habanero beans and rice today.

Good n spicy, got me sweating.

Gonna rinse it down with a couple beers and then walk the boy up the road to the fire station for a trunk or treat thing so he can beg strangers for candy.

And I'm fairly certain Blue Jay habitat is not this far west... I was certain they were central and eastern US birds. Their cries will annoy the hell outa ya, too. Beautiful birds, but noisy and mean.

We've got more blue jays than you can shake a stick at...

That loud, annoying call serves as a warning to the smaller birds... They're like an annoying alarm system that occasionally eats your babies...

Blue birds on the other hand, far more beautiful, far less annoying, but not residents... They like higher elevations...

Thanks to macs, I learned something new... We don't have blue jays... What everyone here calls blue jays are actually scrub jays... Pretty unimpressive compared to real blue jays...

Full disclosure... I wasn't teaching, I was asking. Having grown up in RI, I was used to Blue Jays year round. I haven't seen or heard a Blue Jay out west, and having google searched their habitat... they ain't out here, so I learned that today, too.

I’d do it if I could. Got about 3 inches today - the first meaningful since July. As far as I know, we’re safe. Think the bad stuff is south of us.
