All the closest dealers stock the fully loaded stuff in the 60-70k range. That, or the more basic trucks just sell faster and I never see them.

I've found a few diesels in the 50's but that's still too high for now. Once student loans are done in a few more months I can consider 50k for a new truck. Dad's new truck stickered at $75k. dunno what he actually paid, I'm sure it was much less.

Part of the issue when looking at cars n stuff is my proximity to IL. IL sales tax is over 10% where IN is 7%. Theres a lot more selection over the border, but there's a lot of demand on this side. I need to expand my search eastward. That's what I did when I bought wife's Civic.

please, just for me...ask to see the invoice for the one you may want before you talk about anything else.
depending on what goodies they might get from the factory or for selling x amount of units etc etc it's conceivable you could pay a little less than the dealer paid.

now repeat after me...There Is No Such Thing As MSRP

refuse to engage in any conversation that includes those letters. if it doesn't exist, then any discount from it is a story, not a savings.

and don't discuss that "comfortable payment" or if you have a trade in until you are happy with the purchase price.

And when they're not looking, give one of the quarter panels a good kick for additional discounts.

Advice noted, but I'm a horrible negotiator.

Somehow ended up paying nearly 2k over listing price when I bought the wife's Civic.

Still better than the 5k over listing I paid when I bought her a Subaru...

I think I need to take my salseman brother in law along when I'm ready to buy.

face time me...dumped the flipfone, remember! salesmen tend to like a good story.
but ya gotta promise to look right at me, don't blink, don't nod your head, don't make a sound...the same way I buy cars for The Lovely Caren.

One time as I was going through the procedure, the sales person turns to her and says "what do you think?". She says "I love that car".

I stood up and said "let's go". Sales person couldn't believe it.

First, I got her a new alignment (no violence), and then a month later bought the same car for even less from the same place.

My favorite moment was when he called two weeks after we walked out to tell me he had great news if I was still interested, his manager authorized a price drop to some stupid amount.

I said "fantastic! that puts you in last place!" and hung up.

two weeks later ended up paying $50 over invoice for a 2005 Infinity G 30 or 35x (whatever it was)...about 2,500 less than their day one "best price" discounted from the fake msrp.

it was red. she had to have red.

Woke up far too early... but that's not unusual since I am going fishing. Try for some trout today.

I was recently trying to buy a new Jetta GLI, but the salesman was jerking me around. I left. A few days later he asked if I was still interested and I just texted him a picture of my Mercedes C300.

Boy on the bus, wife outta town.

Beer and video games it is.

Already did dishes, a load of laundry, and vacuumed the house. Took out the trash and fed all the animals.

Don't know what else I need to do. Lazy day today.

Friday. Got a couple of loaves of sourdough mixed up. Going to let them work, and retard in the chiller overnight to bake tomorrow. getting ready to make my breakfast, some Turkish Poached Eggs in Yogurt (Cilbir) with some sourdough toast to mop it up. Man that stuff is amazing. Sun's out, going to work a cigar in here somewhere this morning. ThumpUp

Mofos had a backhoe removing weeds and reeds in a small lake the last couple days.

Water was muddy as fudge... and nobody got a single bite. So, I grabbed a salmon filet on the way home. BigGrin

I hate towing companies. Such a racket.

Parked at the shuttered business next door to a brewery, as is usual cause the brewery has 6 parking spots and limited street parking. I wasn't the only one parked there. Probably one of 6.

Spent an hour there with a buddy on his lunch break. Came out and truck is gone. The other cars are there. So, I assume it was stolen. Initially I was thinking yay insurance payout and buy that new diesel truck. But then thinking chit, I think I have a Beretta 92 in the toolbox and I'm in Illinois... this could be an issue. But then someone came out of the building and said it got towed, not sposeda park there, and pointed at the sign.

Called the number on the sign, they confirmed they had the truck. Sign said $218.50 to release. **** me... took a picture of the sign to retain address and phone number and downloaded the uber app to my phone. Got a 25 minute ride to Riverdale IL for $18 and the place is double fenced but I can see my truck. Call the place again to tell them I'm there. They say there's nobody at the office right now, gotta wait.

Half hour and 3 phone calls later someone comes out. Says they'll release the truck for $600. WTF?! Said GVWR over 8k goes to 600 and 12k is 1200! I said you azzwholes used the same damn truck and equipment to steal my truck as you would for a ford escort that's silly to charge triple. But I spose that explains why they took my truck over the other cars parked there.

So yeah, I had a $700 lunch consisting of two beers and a small bowl of pretzels with some mustard and it took 5 hours of my day.

Worst day.

I had to call my mom and ask if she could get the boy off the bus because of it.

She drove 40 minutes to get him off the bus, I got home right behind the bus.

That will teach you Hoosiers to come over here sucking up all our craft beer and pretzels. I'll bet you were ogling our hotties too, eehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh? Frying pan

Seriously that sucks sphincter rings. Those parasites are 1 notch removed from thieves. Freaking thieves. You got out of state tags too, that was probably one of the other reasons. Chitcago sucks arse. My daughter lives there, but we never go if there is any other option.

Yeah, that 92 would have been a big issue had it come up. That's the other reason we don't go up there. It's a low percentage operation. Brick wall

I avoid Chicago proper, and mostly IL in general. But when my buddy I see two or three times a year at Gridlife events, stays in my camper, helps me with jobs, says "wanna do lunch?" and I'm 100% unencumbered, I go.

Today sucked. Gonna have to pick up a double time shift to try to pay for this.

Edit: The Beretta wasn't in the toolbox.

But... there was a Ruger LCR in the center console.

when my son was a student at SC, he got towed twice (about a dozen parking tickets)...parking is ridiculous around the campus...one time, his rear bumper was about 8-10 inches in a red zone....about $350 for one and $500 for the other - we had to pay for two additional days of storage since they didn't open on Sat and Sun...

glad you got your gun back, dan...sometimes tow services/drivers/operators will take stuff and say they're not responsible...

Ok, a little known fact, if y’all don’t want to get towed, there is a system that can be added aftermarket to the vehicle that will burn up their winch. Don’t ask for details here. Just look into it. When you leave your vehicle, both axles lock down, and 110 volts pass through your framework until you return. You have to have the built in generator for it to work, though.

Got a buyer for my USPc 40 I've had listed for sale for two years. Really like the gun, but really hate .40 cal. Nobody's buying anything in 40 anymore. I think I paid almost $800 for that thing in 09. Listed for sale with two holsters and 7 boxes of ammo for $500. Got an offer for $450 today, I said deal.

That's $450 towards the tow. Gotta drive to Indy for the sale, but wife's car's at her parents so I don't have to take the truck the whole way.

Yeah, during the great ammo drought, the only ammo on the shelves was the .40. It's a decent defensive round but it sucks to shoot. Too snappy for folks. Glad you got a buyer for it. Guys kept buying them for their wives and girlfriends. They would show up at one of our NRA basic pistol classes with them and after a mag couldn't hit squat from flinching so bad. I could never figure out what the hell they were thinking. d'oh!

Morning y'all. I get to put a loft bed together today. Online reviews say it took them 3-4 hours with help. I'm hoping since I use to put furniture together when I was a carpenter back 15 years ago I can do it by myself in 2 hours. Just got to wait for the oldest to wake up so I can put this new bed in his room
