Somehow ended up paying nearly 2k over listing price when I bought the wife's Civic.
Still better than the 5k over listing I paid when I bought her a Subaru...
I think I need to take my salseman brother in law along when I'm ready to buy.
face time me...dumped the flipfone, remember! salesmen tend to like a good story.
but ya gotta promise to look right at me, don't blink, don't nod your head, don't make a sound...the same way I buy cars for The Lovely Caren.
One time as I was going through the procedure, the sales person turns to her and says "what do you think?". She says "I love that car".
I stood up and said "let's go". Sales person couldn't believe it.
First, I got her a new alignment (no violence), and then a month later bought the same car for even less from the same place.
My favorite moment was when he called two weeks after we walked out to tell me he had great news if I was still interested, his manager authorized a price drop to some stupid amount.
I said "fantastic! that puts you in last place!" and hung up.
two weeks later ended up paying $50 over invoice for a 2005 Infinity G 30 or 35x (whatever it was)...about 2,500 less than their day one "best price" discounted from the fake msrp.
it was red. she had to have red.
