Saw him live at the Middle East Restaurant and Night Club in Cambridge, MA back around 2006. Nothing special but he's got some candy corn songs and chicks where into it. Ended up getting a room so the date was a successful investment.

Reminds me... gotta get some new walking shoes for the summer. The trusty ones that have been around need to be retired. I hate to give up some old shoes that are broken in but it's time to purge.

Another memory of bands seen at the Middle East was Luna on their Pup Tent tour(?). Lou Reed-ish like.

Great stretch of Mass Ave around there. Not far down the street were a couple of places I frequented, but more so in the 70's. The Plough and Stars was a great place, and they knew how to pour a Black and Tan properly. Right across the street was the Orson Wells Theater. Might have been where I saw Pink Flamingos (second post I've mentioned that movie this week!), Cantab Lounge, where you could prime the pump with shot of Old T and a beer...
Tons of music, blues, jazz, amazing stretch from Central Square to Harvard Square

We need a vacation from this perpetual vacation AKA retirement so:

Just finished booking a trip to Texas for next week. We had booked the same trip back in 2020 when the Covid hit and had to cancel it. Flying into Austin and spending a few days visiting the smaller towns around the area. Will be feeling no pain in Lukenbach, Waco and the Texas Hill country towns. YeeHaw!

Noted. Building a list of places for Q, beer breweries, etc. Wife wants to see the bats come out from under a bridge at sunset. *sigh*

Stupid rain.

We've had less than 5 days of sunshine since the new year. Rain/snow/grey/cold.

Stone and sand delivered Wednesday. Gravel is coming today. After the gravel delivery I'm hitching my trailer with my motorcycle and delivering that to its new owner. 44 years old still started on the second kick. Spinning the tire in the mud trying to get on the trailer was fun.

I was hoping to be done with the patio this week but the damn rain is relentless. Yesterday had a brief reprieve. I hand dug the final contours and started digging up the garden that I have to redo. I'm on the fence between replacing my timber garden that rotted to death in 10 years with galvanized steel planters or brick. Brick will surely last longer but it's a lot more work both now and later.

If/when things dry up I'm 100% ready to finish. All supplies are on-site.

Friggen... &%#(^$R$%.

This process is crazier than Johnny Depp's wife.
"Oh, well, that shouldn't be like that."
"The lighting plan isn't going to work now because of X."
"The microwave can't be set up that way, it needs it's own circuit"- even though the contractor said it would work.
"You should change the light bulbs because the current set up pulls 4 of the 13 amps on the breaker."
"You really don't need a side splash over here anyway so...".

Time to Open Carry in the house. Maybe we'll get a little law and order around the house (spitting tobacky juice).

Well, I need a new garage door.

For some reason, thin stamped sheet metal (aka "garage doors") is backordered until September. Seriously, go to home depot dot com and try to find one for pickup. "Estimated delivery September 7"...

Guys came out to "band-aid" my current 16x7 with a panel that's starting to crack and quoted me $3500 to replace it and said I couldn't pick my own door, had to be one they currently have in stock cause they aren't getting much in the way of new ones...

My bathroom remodel don’t look so crazy now! Hire a designer and a contractor and just pick out tile and fixtures. The Mexicans do the rest.

SOB, ask the tech if they can just swap out the capacitor with a spare to see if if it will run. That's what usually goes first. Couple hundred bucks for a new one instead of replacing the entire system. Of course, if you are due for a new system, you are only delaying the inevitable.

Yeah, I remember they did that last year and had that thought, but am wondering how many capacitors I'd go through going forward and how far that would get me in the long run

We have both cars in use at the same time for maybe one day a month.

I put 6000 miles on it in two years.

I do not like the things you are saying to me. I also do not like the prices this guy is quoting. Cheapest version is $7k for AC only and $13k for AC & furnace

I'm second opinioning regardless, but is that ridiculous or am I?

Why you trying to run ac?

Around $800, but we drove down and brought all our own gear. 4 days in the hotel, 4 days out on the water fishing in pangas. Awesome fishing in the Sea of Cortez.

I just reset the trip meter for the first time since I bought the POS in 8/2020.

7800 miles.

12k in repairs.

Towed my motorcycle on my car trailer today. Tranny fvcked up again - every time I tow. Locks me in 1st and 4th. Shifts 1-4 at 2500rpm. I've found similar complaints online. Brought to the dealer 3x for it. Turn it off and back on again is the fix. Dropped off my trailer and took it in today told them to drive it before shutting it off. They keep telling me they can't reproduce the issue. First thing they do? Turn it off. Then an hour later tell me there's no codes and can't reproduce the issue.

Yep. Think we paid about $7800 for new AC about 5 years ago. When it's 110+ you can't haggle much.

It's not ridiculous. It's about right-ish.

I got the AC and furnace done for $7500. Kept existing lines and ducting... military discount... cash discount. They basically replaced the condenser outside, and the cooler and furnace in the attic. I don't think a CA furnace is the same as an Indiana or Wisconsin furnace. Probably single stage vs multi stage, so there's that...

Good Saturday Morning! It's a breezy 65° on the way to 76° today. Our older son is taking his Mother to lunch today.

SOB AC costs:

High efficiency variable speed compressor and fan motor Heat Pump Replacement of entire unit.

5 ton upstairs unit: $10,000

3 ton downstairs unit: $8,000

The price sucks and they do not last as long as they used to, ten years if you're lucky. horse Brick wall

Currently 54 degrees headed to 78 today. I'll take that.

Warm, but not hot... cool enough on the morning walk.

Wife's car did not need brakes, so I saved some $$$ there. Just got off a video call with her... they're doing karaoke, so I am pretty sure not going was the right call.

Karaoke in the Philippines? What's not to like?

It would be an experience I'd never forget... kinda like that root canal procedure I had back in high shool.

Good afternon.

Neurosurgeon said surgery is not necessary unless I develop new symptoms, elbow surgery to correct numbness in 4th and 5th fingers or just can't take it anymore. I can have every type of injection to hold surgery off too!

You all don't know how relived I am! The procedure would include refusion and fusion from C3-3 to T-1-2 with posterior incision, rods, brackets and screws, which he said is so painful i would hate him for like six weeks.

Sad part is that he is only allowed to prescribe pain RX for 3-14 days after hospital discharge so he will keep me 4 days in the hospital rather than one day, just for pain management. Last time I was given 90 days of pain pills and muscle relaxant for recovery and physical therapy from a far less painful surgery and needed every single pill. And, he also agreed that my idea for a work-around idea for the Rx restrictions was novel and will work work!!!

Got to love Florida's legislature and Ron Desantis for all this Rx limitation crap. How the hell do they know how long someone needs pain meds following reconstructive spinal surgery? I know there has been an opiod crisis, but taking discretion and expertise away from a neurosurgeon is just ludicrous.

Anyhow, I am ecstatic for now!!!

We have a RX pandemic in this country of people using addictive pain meds for recreation. Would you prefer they do nothing?

I think 14 days of pain meds is plenty. It isn't like you can't go back and get more... and this way your doctor can monitor more closely. Just my $.02.

Good Saturday folks. Exercise completed 5 miles for me and 20 for the '65. Going to be close to 100 today but the morning was 66 for the walk and very low RH.

Have to agree with MACS on the medication thingy. Doctors were prescribing way more Oxy than was needed in my experience over the last five years or more. My last root canal got me a prescription for 30 pills and I never used any. Shoulder surgery got me another 30 and I used two. YMMV of course.

Hope you get what you truly need for your problems Robert.
