Almost done with the workweek. One night left then back to work on the patio. Hoping to get it done this off week but it needs to dry up outside.

What a day, my favorite Chevrolet dealer called to say he had a Silverado 1500 High Country 3.0L Duramax

This truck has perforated leather seats that blow cool or warm air. We rented a Ford Explorer that had this feature and were sold. It also hs all sorts of electronic features, even active cruse control that slows down the truck if traffic ahead slows down. I'll be studing the manual for a while to figure out all the features.

if you want a new vehicle now, the only discount will be a smaller charge above list price, a good car rate loan is around 2.5-3% even with the highest score they have seen in years.

I financed the truck because I am making more than 3% on my retirement funds, I just hate to do that, but it makes sense.

Given the lack of deals at the dealer, I'm curious if we're heading towards the end of the traditional dealership. That was the only incentive IMO to take on the stress of negotiations.

Nothing but good luck with Chevrolets for many years, you can have problems with any manufacturer's vehicles.

True, that is one reason I've been using the same dealer for years. They sell at a good price, don't have a "closer" to sweat more money out of you.

I despise all GM vehicles. May or may not be warranted but had a horrible experience with a 2001 Silverado 1500 a couple years after I bought it new. The two GM dealerships I tried to work with were of zero help. I swore to myself that I would never ever buy another GM product ever again.

Owned many Fords over the years and haven't had any major issues with them. A used late 70s or early 80s Maverick back in college years (I think I paid like $350 for it used from the want ads in the newspaper), new early 90's Ford Ranger pickup, 3 different Ford Focus (2000teens as commuter cars).

I had a few Hyundai's (2 Elantras and a Sonata) mixed in there among the Focuses as commuter cars and haven't had any major issues with them. One of the Elantras blew a timing belt and trashed the engine at about 120k miles. I can't blame the car. That one is on me for not getting the belt replaced at the recommended 80-100k ish miles.

Just the usual ribbing... I don't like GM either, but I also had a bad experience with the Ram ecodiesel which is why I have the Hemi now.

I wish you the best, of course.

My 1st was a '75 Buick, so there's some sentimental GM affection there. Wasn't much to love about it beyond the first wheels aspect though.

Appreceiated. I pretty much figured, this is CigarBid, beside that, discussing car/truck brands can be more volatile than politics or religion. Honestly, I could be happy with a Ford, Dodge or Toyota truck, and as I said, there is always someone that has been screwed over by one manufacturere or another. I also worked in a forein car repair shop. There is a good reason for lemon laws.

I do like Checrolet trucks and they are what my favorite dealership sells. I've said it many times, if Richard, the delaership owner, started selling Yugos, I'd buy a Yugo. They also have a great service shop, our older son used to work there, and they have always been honest, even when it was not to theeir advantage.

I've seen a couple of Ford Maverics that have run a lot of miles, nothing to look at, but still running.

Timing belts on interferiance engines, are deadly when they break. I had two VW Rabbits one broke the timing belt and other stretched until it jumped a cog and threw off the timing. Luckely, they none interferannce engines a belt break just shuts doen the engine. On this new diesle the timing belt is supposed to be replaced at 150k. It's a stright six clyider and the belt is on the back of the engine. The transmissionhas to be unbolted and moved back, not looking forward to that.

Back in the 80's my parents bought a Renault Encore. If I remember it correctly it was rather dependable but, really... a French car?

My FIL had a 60's Renault, French cars are unique. Tom and Ray Mariachi said, "The French copy no one, and no one copies the French."

I had a 1964 Rambler American. It had a flat head six-cylinder engine. I drove that car from SoCal to the Oregon border and back. It required changing the water pump.

7 miles on the stationary bike. Showered, half a pot of coffee. Two constitutionals.

Yesterday (while I was at the shpo) was Day One Operation Kitchen Remodel. Demo Day.

Wife said the greyhound was quite unhappy with the strange people in the house and the noise. Today is day 1 of 3 in cabinet refacing. Am hiding in the basement, not being particularly productive.

Will rain most of the day, with a projected high of 51. Then slightly warmer and drier each day forward. Promising.

Dogwalk later when the precip chances are reduced.
