Monday, Monday, Monday morning...

Waiting for the pressure cleaner to come to do the entire back porch and pool deck and screen, and to clean things up so that we are comfortable leaving the sliding doors open to the back patio/pool, all the time. When they are done with the wash, they spray everything with bleach to sterilize the area. I usually pay extra for extra bleach because I just don't feel it can ever be too clean!

So, from today until the end of June, we have a fully covered, fully furnished, 400sq.ft., outdoor "room" on our back porch, back in use. It is referred to locally as a "Florida Room." It's really a great room to enjoy being outside. So, we actually spend a lot of time out there together during Fall, Winter and Spring.

Yeah... been up since 0530. Coffeed up, walked the dog... and it was cool enough that the wife tagged along. Dog has been fed, now I need some food.

Robert, I am liking the screened in patio. I don't have 400 sqft, but I got comfy chairs/couch, ceiling fan, music and such. Pupper is loving his new playground. Toys are already scattered around.

If there's a covered part to it...mount a wide screen up as high as possible for storm protection and shade as well.

I miss my old lanai. It was like another room. The house I live in now only has a screened in pool area. I put up a cabana in the corner for the table, chairs and grill but its not the same.

Got coupons in the mail for $15 off oil change at a new quickstop oil change place nearby. I figured that would bring the cost pretty close to DIY and no work or mess on my end.

Got in line with 6 cars ahead of me. Guy came up to my car to get info and I asked how long this line would take. He said about an hour 20 but I could make an appointment and come back to the appointment line which was also 6 cars deep. Maybe 5. I said sure, made appt for 1330 and went home. Thought about it for a minute and called them back to get prices. $90 for the Civic, $65 for the Hyundai plus tax and disposal fees.

Canceled the appointment. Went to Autozone, used a coupon and bought the stuff on sale that each car calls for. I got both cars changed, tools cleaned up and waste oil packaged for dropoff at 1230. Took all of 45 minutes and $78 to buy the stuff and do the things. But... it's another 45 min to drop off at my buddy's shop that he heats with waste oil. That can wait until I'm out that way

I also welded in an old pair of hood pins from my racecar days so I can close the hood without a ratchet strap and I wet sanded and polished the headlights. That completes the bodywork I'm gonna do on this beater. If I find a convenient bumper cover I might throw that on but not gonna seek it out. Might rattle can paint the hood if I get bored. Put a black hood on a grey car. But probably not.

My Dad said he's embarrassed for me to be driving this car. I think it's brilliant. $150/year to insure and I don't care if it gets more dents. Gets 30-40mpg, heats up faster than my truck in the cold and the best part is it's here in my driveway and not in a shop. No car payment, no depreciation since it's already totaled. I miss beaters.

Spent the weekend scalping and overseeding the lawn. Got the seed down and now I just have to wait for (hopefully) germination in about 7-10 days. I had to use box store seed since I waited too long to buy the good stuff online and they were sold out...

Just got off the phone with Samsung and Spectrum/Charter Internet. Turns out that Samsung's remotes number pads won't work when streaming from Spectrum. Not even on the best upgraded models Samsung sells will do that.

So, I called Spectrum and they said the same; thing and even worse, that their own Spectrum remote won't work to allow me to use its keypad either when streaming their TV service.

There is no way this is not a simple fix by either company, if not for both because Spectrum/Charter work together so that Spectrum's App works on Samsung TVs.

Both said a universal remote won't work either. What about a bunch of b.s.!!!

(These "first world" problems are really getting to me today. LOL.)

Chicken parm in the crock pot, should be ready in an hour or two but gotta boil some noodles.

Andouille sausage, red beans and rice is finishing up on simmer.

Meals for lunches this coming week... all done.

My various weekend missions are complete with success and I'll top it off with eating some grub. (Monday is my Sunday).

I predict a cat nap in the near future.

WhooA!!!

Good afternoon all, Yeppers that's right... Mrs. and I slept in until 10:30 this morning nothing on the agenda today. we went down and buttoned up the camper at the lake lot, then went and spent some time visiting her parents (both of them going to be 88 next month) Tomorrow she starts back into her Tax Season Mode (35 yrs of H&R Block) met up with one of her Nephew's at a local watering hole in her home town and we Let our hair down (so to speak) walking the downtown district hitting all the hangouts from her younger years.. she met allot of old from her school dayz! one of the local watering holes was hosting the Free Poker I posted about on another thread and her Nephew was able to sit down with the group along with us as well and play a session learning the ropes (I think he's hooked?) he and I went heads up over one hand and I ended up pushing him all my chips on an A2 against his pocket Aces. flop brought 10,Ace,2 I bet, he raised I called, turn card 10 hearts. another player bet I called, Neph raised We called. "The River" was a deuce. guy bet, neph raised and I went all in. so did the other player... he tossed his pocket Aces for a full house against my deuces over Aces full house. He ended the evening with a second-place finish for his first time playing in this league... after that the night became a blur!!! Herfing

Your nephew came in Second Place his first time playing hold 'em? That's quite an achievement, even for an accomplished poker player who has never played it before!

I have 2 Fire TV's. Got a 50" and a 55" from Amazon last Christmas time IIRC. Both for under $800. I just get internet service.

Use the remotes provided. Youtube TV and Amazon Prime... more than enough crap for me to watch. And I can move the TV's (very light) to anywhere I want them... just needs a signal from the wireless modem to work. :)

If you can watch it on a computer, look into a dedicated mini-computer connected to the TV screen and controlled with a keyboard/finger pad combination.

Robert, may wNt to look into a third party app thingy to run your streaming. We use an old Xbox 360 upstairs for the streaming apps and control everything through it. I've used a Amazon fire stick too. Downstairs I have a 1 year old Samsung smart TV and had issues with logins and controls so that one ran on a raspberry pi media controller for a while until I bought a new Xbox and now that is the media controller/delivery device.

Built in stuff isn't great.

I didn't expect too much when I bought it b/c I have another Samsung with the same remote they ALL come with. I guess I get what I payed for. LG doesn't connect with my cable company's streaming service at all- no bueno- and Sony is just too damned expensive.

When it’s time to get your brakes done, get your brakes done.

Pads and Rotors on a small sedan would be around $400 if replaced when needed.

If you wait too long, it becomes Pads, Rotors, and Calipers, it becomes $800.

$800 is cheap for all that. Ideally calipers should last the life of the car if you change the pads when you should and flush your brake lines with new fluid every 60k or so. (Mercedes wants you to do it every 20k!)

Rotors used to be machined once, even twice if they were thick enough. Now they make them so thin machining has almost become obsolete.

Tried to stretch it out a little too long in my broke college days. Seized up all 4 calipers. Metal on metal is a very uncomfortable sound when you're trying to stop a car

89F/71F today. Too hot. No breeze 92% humidity with only a 37% chance of rain. So, it will be hot and muggy/sticky unless it rains or the clouds clear out. :)

Got to take wife's car in to the shop today for an estimate. She has a bad ding that cannot be ignored, let alone not fixed.

Rest and recuperation thereafter!

I do my/our own brakes, my daddy tought us boys years ago. most are fairly simple and quick to do. but now that I'm married again I've only done one other persons brakes in our driveway ($20 a wheel, I use this cash money for extra drinkin funds... Or Slush fund donations if ya get my drift!! Herfing ) Mrs. doesn't like the mess when towns folks drive by... she also don't like having to sit in the vehicle and pump the peddle while I'm bleeding them off... LOL

I got all the tools, so if'n you wanna drive down for a visit and herf... you'll have two pump the brakes and we can do it at my place down the road.. Beer Money!!! Herfing

Reminds me of a time when I had dw#1 pump the brakes so I could bleed the air out. After fifteen minutes with nothing coming out I asked her to show me what she was doing and she was pumping the gas.

Did the yard work today. Cut, trimmed, edged, and then fertilized with Scott's Weed n' Feed. Got the blower out and woooshed it all away. Cleaned the tools and put 'em up.

Feeling pretty accomplished... that'll happen after a couple hours of work if you're a layabout. :-"

MACS, you got St Augustine or Zoysia? I think those are the common types in FL, right?

I ask because the label for weed+feed says not to use on St. Augustine. You may be fine, but just FYI.

Atrazine is another good option if you don't mind spraying it on.
