Got to Get You Into My Life.
Wife's favorite band. She'd never been to a concert. Exceeded expectations.
So much fun, she's still smiling tonight.
I have nothing against the band. I do like "full sound" entertainment that goes beyond the standard lead guitar, bass, rhythm guitar, drums. Add in additional layers of a horn section, background singers, various other percussion selections. Funky music. Usually makes for a great show. Earth Wind and Fire a bit too disco for me but I'm sure it would be a good show to see.
I have fond memories of seeing live shows of George Clinton, Maceo Parker, and the like in the 90's (roots of James Brown and Parliament/Funkadelic). I'm sure the shows I saw paled in comparison of when they were at the peak in the 60's and 70's but they still had a stage full of all different layers of sound.
Sly & the Family Stone is another that comes to mind and could enter into the discussion.
