Muffuletta is the main ingrediant of the sandwich that consists of black & green olives, artichoke hearts,olive oil, various spices. You spread the mixture on the bread and pile on the Italian cold cuts and go to town.

Being a Sicilian from NJ with NY roots, none of my family actually heard of it until a family member who travels a lot, told us about it several years ago.
