I will whole heartedly agree with that assertion, Frank. But this is the world we live in, sir. At one point in my life, I wanted to believe that people were innately good.
I've traveled the world, sir. I've seen more than a dozen countries. I've seen war. I've seen killing, and I've been a part of it.
I work in a jail. I am surrounded by people who victimize the populace. They are able to do what they do because of the many people willing to be victimized.
The sheep/wolf/sheepdog story is an amusing anecdote... until you live it. There are wolves. They are unforgiving, uncaring, and ruthless. They do what they do because they are allowed to. They prey on the weak. They do it inside prison walls. They will not change.
A wolf changes, only when his prey forces the change. Wolves never attack a healthy stag. It's too dangerous. They're not brave, you see... they prey on the weak. Or, like a wolf pack, a gang attacks in force.
I'll wrap this diatribe up in a small, neat bow. Which may appeal to your jewish side... God said, an eye for an eye. Jesus said, turn the other cheek. You're Jewish... you should be in favor of brutalizing people who brutalize others (that's all they respond to... I've seen it first hand) not giving them the opportunity to brutalize your friends and family as well... (turn the other cheek... if you do not stop them, they WILL continue to do what they do).
Wait... you said you don't "practice" your faith, right?
Which is why the Jews went through what they did... and why Jesus was necessary. Jackass.
