Just got a call that I'm getting a bottle of Thomas H Handy Sazerac Rye... Anyone ever tried it?

Think

I found the 2014 to be very smooth and enjoyable but not overly complex or anything. I think I traded off my 2015.

It was good, but probably won't pick up another bottle. It's finished in bourbon barrels and there was something about the taste that just wasn't quite for me. The buddy I was drinking with, however, loved it.

OGD bonded.

this and bulleit (both the original and the rye) are becoming my goto everyday bourbons. not too complex but hits the mark. plus its readily available at the class VI in korea.

the only thing i miss about fort campbell, KY and TN is the bourbon

You can't renew you pla***** membership unless you've sent him a bottle of ETL.

Walking the fine line huh?

But, since I got my very first bottle of ETL through you, I know you got renewed. BigGrin

What did you think on the Hudson? The price has always scared me away (without rave reviews to back it up) and I keep missing it when its available at tastings.

The question is, was it worth the premium price? Compared to their other "regular" single barrel offerings, the price for a 12 yr falls in line. I would definitely like to get my hands on one of these EC barrel picks some day!

Good stuff. You tried OGD114 before? What about old old early 90s late 80s OGD (or before)?

Lately I've had:
Stagg Jr. latest batch
Willett Pot Still Reserve (the old single barrel not the new small batch. Need to find a small batch to compare)
Bernheim Wheat age stated
The Balvenie 21 yr

I missed a bottle of Harrison Presidential Reserve 16 YR last Saturday. I'm very upset by that...

I've now seen mentions of Harrison's Presidential Reserve at the 3 large liquor stores in my area but missed the bottle at each. If anyone sees this around ~$100 I encourage you to give it a try if that's in your budget. I found one yesterday waiting for me this weekend!

Looks something like this: http://www.bourbonblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/W_H_Harrison_Presidential_Bourbon_Grouseland.jpg

May not say Grouseland Cache anymore.

Last night, Woodford Double Oaked.

I know the brand name has been recently rereleased, but the 15 year is a newer product.
What did you think?

I've had an unopened "nip" (1/10 pint) in my bar of their 86 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon for at least 35 years!

Nose is above average, initial taste is really nice and then it flat lines. Nothing on the backend like Basil Hayden. I would rate it a 3.0 or 3.25 at the very best on a scale of 1 - 5. Probably will not be purchasing another bottle.

Hope this helps.

left out that this is the "classic edition"

this is one kick-arse sipper yet it's only 53% abv. These Balcones folks do not kid around.
liking it neat.
next time I'll see if a drop or two opens it up more.

Love some Chieftains, how was the Tamdhu? I've looked at it several times never pulled the trigger.

Glen Moray Single Malt Speyside "Elgin Classic"

no age posted on the label, never knew of this distiller until Allen suggested their 12 year as a good value.

found this sitting alone on a shelf for $23...zero smoke or peat, slightly honeyed up front, smooth as silk. Obviously not very complex, certainly no Balvenies etc. but I have to admit I like it a lot.

Consider I am really a bourbon guy, so there's that...

I like tamdhu 10 for the price. It's aged in sherry barrels rather than finished. As long as you think moderately priced 10 it doesn't disappoint.

The cask strength was excellent.
