Received a bottle of 1492 " barrel #41 ( from Oppermans in Sag.MI. ) from my cigar smokin BIL and

A bottle of Virginia Black from our Son Elliott ( tried it @ the Bourbonfest and liked it )

A collaboration between Brent Hocking, founder and creator of the original Deleón tequila; and award-winning artist, songwriter, rapper and actor, Drake.

A personally selected collection of two, three and four-year old bourbons finished with a decadent profile.

DRAKE! a half black half Jewish Canadian...it's not for everyone.

Merry Christmas Paul. I'm guessing this one was sort of up and down emotionally, eh?

The bottle gifted to me was purchased in Destin a couple of months ago for under $40.00. I found one place in Pensacola couple weeks before Christmas that had bottles of ETL and Stagg Jr in the back for $149.00. Blanton's was $99.00.

Glad they were not gouging.

My bottle of Four Roses SB BS from Maissano's

OESK - 115.8 Proof - 9 yrs 4 months

Warehouse#AN Barrel#24-3F

Same mash bill

No hype here........the best bourbon I have ever had to date hands down. The flavor is nothing short of amazing.......loaded with Apple,pear,vanilla.....a light cinnamon burn on the finish that is absolutely perfect. If I had the opportunity I'd have bought a case of this myself. This bottle was gifted by a friend down in the Sip who did indeed buy a case.He has 2 bottles left.......I been sweet talking him but I think I am going to have to rob him when he's out of town.LOL

the bottle I got at my favorite local a few months ago is gone, I liked it enough but didn't totally fall in love.

the recipe was:
OESF...mint, fruity, full body
aged 10 yrs 10 months
53.2% abv

Four Roses is an amazing bourbon maker. IIRC, they have something like eleven recipes.

Since I rep four roses, a case is easy for me to score from this guy.

I bought a case, for a friend, to hand out as Christmas gifts.

If you want some, say the word. I have plenty now so a case split doesn't work for me. But if you need a case or a bottle, I can help out.

Keep in mind there are 10 barrels to choose from. So the profiles are different.

Hey Mattie.......starting to look like a group buy.

If this works out,I can guarentee if these bottles are even close to what I received, there will be no disappointment.

Alright. I'll get a list of the 10 barrels. They obviously have a description based on their own tastings at selection.

Whistle can pick the bottle. Then we can figure out how many.

Mattie, Are you able to run a private bottling for a group like cigarbid through any of your retailers? One of our locals here picked a really empty barrel (angels were greedy or it leaked) and let a guy buy all the bottles and put his details on the label. My understanding is it has to run through a retailer to meet the three tier requirements but that would be a cool thing ;)
/r/bourbon, SB, and bourbonr have done this before. Cbid label!!!!

I'm going down to cox's creek bottling plant 19 Jan to pick OBSK and two other recipes I forget which with a local store. I've hit all the stores up and now they have much harder time get private barrels and won't do a private bottling. Ihave almost all of the diff recipes missing one or two. I've liked my OESQ the best.

You know what else has great private barrels? Smooth Ambler. Keep an eye out for the cAsk strength ryes!!!

Back on topic......
NYE was good to me

2016 Four Roses Limited SmB (my friend found bottle in the wild hour before party)
Jeffersons (not liking this anymore proof too low)
2015 pappy 15
Whistlepig

Edit: also what price on the four roses barrel picks? I've found as low as 34.99 last xmas and 44.99 about 6 mos ago.

Mayor Pingree Bourbon

While in Michigan over the Christmas / New Years holiday I had the opportunity to sample a new to me bourbon from Detroit ( aged and bottled in Ferndale MI.) and IMHO it was exceptional. Here's a little info:
