If anyone is planning a visit to CA, now is not a good time...too many fires n too much smoke...top to bottom...finishing a week of hiking n fishing...caught a cough n sore throat. ..air is decent here in Monterey.

Deep fried some pork chops... crispiest I've ever gotten them... flavors good but needs heat... still drying the cayenne and habanero peppers and didn't wanna use paprika on account of I'm out of ground mustard...

Anyway, brioche bun, bacon, sharp cheddar, and probably the last brandywine of the year...

I was a daily listener as Imus peaked, IMO....late 80's, early 90's after he moved to WFAN.....after they put a camera on him, he sorta lost his mind

Work has gotten in the way of being able to watch Manchester United kick off the Premier League season. Remind me why I’m not independently wealthy....

A bit of a scare in the 92nd minute.

Set or not set the alarm for Newcastle v. Tottenham?

Go Toon Army!

Fishing was terrible in the Sierras...thick smoke discouraged us from one prime spot, Crowley...caught three little trout that we put back at Lundy Lake and that was it...went further north, to the Lassen area...wanted to fish at Eagle Lake, but there was a fire there a few days before I got there and the ash on the lake made it unfishable, so I just did some hiking at Lassen...smoke was heavy just about everywhere I went...

came home today and we have a layer of smoke in the air and a backyard covered with ash from a nearby fire, called the Holy Fire...sheesh...CA is on fire, in a bad way...

Workin'...

Night shift looms... one more month of days and it's back to the hours of vampires and tweakers. Taking vacation in September to hang out with the wife, then again in December to hang out with wife/friends. Any time off during night shift is welcome.

Nope. Asked a couple people for a swap... one said no, the other didn't respond, so I'm taking that as a no. It's a tough sell... this is the busiest jail we have, with the nuttiest of nuts housed therein.

I'm learning a lot... fast. My team is adept and my partners are all cool, so there is a silver lining. I know I'll get back eventually. My transfer request is logged with Admin, so when moves happen I hope to be accommodated.
