Put the 4th beer up to ferment last weekend. Decided to try an extraction I had laying around. Should have turned out really heavy.... I suspect I added too much water though. So it's not going to be as high alcohol a beer as I hoped.

Sigh....

Pitch more yeast. Better yet make a starter.

It's a game changer if you're trying heavier beers. Anything over 1.05 sg is gonna need more than one dry pack (check the dates - they expire) or more than two wet packs despite what the recipe may call for, and youre gonna need temp control - basements work or garage in the fall. I'm not a huge fan of the wet pack yeasts, they lose cell counts well before the expiration date. They're great if you make a starter though, lots of variety available to you. Just needs a little more work on your end.

I pitched 2 packs dry. Not expired.
The starting SG is lower than I want it to be... so no matter what I do with the yeast I'm not gonna reach my final abv goal.
SG was a little shy of 1.06... .it was supposed to start at like 1.08(something).... I was using pre-made extracts (except for a tiny boil of like 1.5lbs grain)... so I don't know.

Ah well... it's just a quick and dirty use of a kit I had. it'll be drinkable.

not trying to rain on your parade...I've known two people, including my SIL, who home-brewed...both made a variety of tasty and strong beer ...both also put on a lot of weight after a couple of years...

both started by bottling the beer, then transitioned to kegging because of the extra effort required to bottle...

beer in a keg led to more home consumption...

My experience the same. But dunno if homebrew or general laziness and switching to nightshift at the same time I started brewing.

But yeah, a 5g batch started off lasting 3-4 weeks but once kegged 2-3 weeks at most. Too easy to just pull the handle and drink some beer.

I miss it. But I hated all the cleaning. I made some fantastic beers. But for what it cost, and the time involved, there's plenty local breweries that also make fantastic beer for about the same price or less once my time is figured in. I enjoyed it as a hobby, and sharing with others, but it turned into a chore.

I actually built an automated controller and was working on getting the rest of the hardware in place to automate brew days. Built a room in the basement for it with water filters n stuff, big drain with a sewage pump to the ditch to pump out spent grain n stuff. But I lost interest halfway through. If I gotta automate a hobby, it's just a chore.

Second Shingles Shot and a doctors note, so I don't have to working in Manfred Mann conditions.

Would love for them to build me a cave to work in. I'll settle for wearing a hat.

I have no patience for the brewing, but to help out anyone concerned with the weight gain point, I'd be happy to help with consumption

I'm not ready to go back to work.

Had planned on going in a day early (tomorrow) but I don't see that happening. I spose if maybe I can't sleep tonight (been sleeping a solid 7-9 hours a night all week) and and up sleeping all day tomorrow then maybe.

But prolly not.

I'm an idiot.

I thought we were starting Tuesday.

I do have to go to work tomorrow.

Shot myself in the foot there. Usually stay up as late as possible on Tuesday night so I can sleep late. But it's 10pm and I'm full of beer and ready for bed.

An early HHD Ram n dudes

Flu symptoms this morning. Fringe vacanations.

Question on Cuban Coffee. Is it usually served hot and sometimes served cold?

Hot. But, I am sure it's good cold too. Which Cuban coffee drink are you thinking of?

I prefer Cafe Bustello and do like Llave. The overwhelmingly, Cuban restaurants use Bustello.
Both available at the grocery store and both real good...

Spent yesterday up at the mountain house getting it ready for winter. Being from the desert I'm not sure I did everything needed but it usually only gets down to 15-20 above so we'll see how it goes. Probably need to make one more trip up there to clean up leaves as the trees were only half done shedding.

First time I have been in long pants in maybe 7-8 months.

Computer busted... trashed it and broke out the older one that still works. Debating if I want to spend the money on a new one or just use this one.

Contacted mah brutha T-Gerbs. He steered me toward a laptop that is way more than I need... but priced right for the bells and whistles I'll be getting. Costco dot com online only for $350 off... $799. Cost me $880 after taxes and shipping.

HP Envy 17.3" 1080p touchscreen laptop
Intel i7 processor
4GB graphics card
16GB memory
1TB hard drive

Don't need the touchscreen, but the backlit keyboard will be nice. Porn is gonna look awesome on the bigger screen!! Anxious
