I've been able to master short cat naps. 30 min to recharge the batteries. Sounds kinda weird but I can do a sort of a meditation state where I'm not actually sleeping but not actually awake either... in the gray zone of sleep and awake.

Reminds me of some lyrics from this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb0-BoYCvG4

"That moment of sleep
When you think you're awake
That threshold of pain
You know you can take."

When I do go into a deep sleep, a tornado spin down the street and I'd probably not notice.

One thing I did realize was when my kids were little. I could be in a deep sleep with earth shattering thunderstorms passing by with no reaction but any peep out of the kids from the baby monitor, I snapped awake.

Funny how the brain works... While it's recharging it would ignore regular stuff deemed not important but any peep from the kids or odd noise in the house it would snap me into awake mode.

The human body, with all its workings, is the most complicated and the most amazing thing ever invented. It even comes with a free belly button.

I’m the same way with massive thunderstorms. I find them calming- except for the one which ended with a section of. 110 year plus oak tree section landing within 15 feet from my window.

Have been playing the Coffee Nap game on weekends.
-Get real tired.
-Cup with a bunch of caffeine in it, drunk quickly.
-Go to sleep.

The caffeine and filling bladder wake me in 20-30 minutes. Wake feeling refreshed.

Chiefs looked confused after initial success on their first drive.
Got the double win on the Miz Bet (Giants +11).
Chiefs won and I got paid.

I was hoping that I now have immunity but he thinks that the literature shows it may only last for 90 days or so.

Well, it's been about 36 hours since my little road dog home-skillet ate baseball leather. He's been droppin' deuces like normal. I'm hoping that means he digested it. Haven't seen any remnants of it in his poop, but he's dropping them like their hot. They are steaming, but prolly cuz it's cold and stuff... Mellow

Found out the hard way, my wife dropped a chunk of onion on the floor last night while making chili.
The dog took unknown, temporary possession of it for about 12 hours before redepositing onto the living room rug.

Hard work, being a stay at home dog dad.

Great to hear DED!

Haven’t been around much,

got the Moderna booster yesterday...Dr. said the booster is 50% of the initial doses...only adverse effect is a sore upper left arm...

she also said she is certain that the FDA will soon approve vaccinations for children 5 - 11 years old ...and they will be very busy...

Blood must be thickening. Dog wlalk in 39 degrees with a 15 mph breeze wasn’t impactful. Although I was wearing long Johns, just in case.

Yep, Danm is not wrong about the recovery time for many. I feel really lucky to have had a shorter time than others. Doc says one of his cases died and two others are using walkers to get around even though it has been months since they came down with it.

Yessir... onions are a no go for puppy dogs.

Tank's deuce on the walk today had a small amount of baseball leather. Hopefully he chewed the stuff enough that it comes out little by little and does not create an obstruction.

I've been mixing a can of sardines in olive oil in his kibble. He loves them, they're good for him, and I'm hoping the oil greases up the leather and it slides out. Anxious

Speaking of Chili... got another crockpot full of it going right now. Last week it was so damn good I figured I'd do it again. This time went with habaneros instead of green chilis.

You can get the tins of sardines at Costco, RAM. I eat them all the time. They taste like canned tuna, only much better.

Yep... tins of sardines in olive oil. Did not know Costco had them. Been grabbing them from Walmart.

I'll have to look for them in Costco. Cheaper in bulk, I bet... and he likes them so much that sometimes he will turn his nose up at his kibble if I haven't added any.

And then the little bastige goes hungry until he understands that's all he's gonna get. lol

So does my wife.

I buy them live for bait when we go fishing... and she wants me to bring home any we do not use. They're usually 4-6" and she will clean them and fry them up.

If she doesn't... I take the ziploc bag of frozen sardines to cut up and throw for chunk chum.

MACS, at my Costco, they are right near the tuna cans. Boneless, skinless, in oil, I think 8-packs.

I grew up in Rhode Island. Lot's of Portuguese in RI, and they love to grill big sardines. You can smell it a mile away... Wife and I were in Toronto years ago walking around some street fair and I said "There is a Portugese restaurant nearby" because I could smell the sardines grilling. We walked a block, turned the corner, and sure as shyt, there they were grilling 8 inch sardines in front of the Portugese restaurtant.

While very disctinct, the smell of them on the grill is not 'good', but the they taste dy-no-mite!

I just use the Costco ones instead of canned tuna. They taste more like what I think tuna should taste like. Plus, I appreciate being able to recognize the food I am eating (the sardines are actual little fish inthe tin). Tuna in a can is just some weird processed, steamed in the can, fish substance to me.

Sweet. Same as what I get at wally world.

Chili I made today is amazing. Used habaneros instead of green chilis and it's got a little bite. Danm wouldn't notice the spice at all... but it tastes great to me.

You didn't grow up poor! Gonz

Lotta ethnic groups in Hawaii use canned sardines in their recipes. Probably started in the plantation camps when their pay was dirt cheap so they had to use whatever they could afford. Plus, the Lunas (...or Field Supervisors...) were Portuguese so would make sense that the plantation's company store would stock them. One of my favorite dishes that my Dad used to whip up was a sardines with udon noodles dish. I never asked him about the genesis of it but had to think it musta been from those long ago plantation days.

29 degrees and cloudy. Still working on my water intake before I grab the coffee.

Plan on watching The Adventures of Mark Twain and play online dominoes with a fiend of mine.

And of course, the greyhound needs a walk- but not until it warms up.

Good Wednesday Morning! I'm 72 today, old and stiff, but still better than a dirt nap. It's 59° right now on the way to just 62° today. Leaving for Costco run today.

The Moderna booster shot site is warm, red, and has a big lump underneath, but other than that, all good.

82/64 today with 47% humidity, which is still a bit too high for the days. 64F when I jumped in the pool. Chilly exit, but I brought a long-sleeve. Reviewed some more of my son's law school apps. Went to the chiro again- this time he was able to adjust me because the swelling resided- and almost a week of upper back pain is gone! Plan to just sit back and relax today and tomorrow. I have an online seminar for an hour tomorrow. Gonna see if wife wants to go out to dinner tonight...

Mowed the ditch with the trimmer. Didn't do a final shave last year and had to go down in the water to clear the fallen leaves from my culvert. Hopefully with nothing to accumulate a large volume of leaves it'll stay flowing.

Mowed the lawn too. More leaves than grass. Still most are on the trees. I think imma be mowing well after first snow this year. I think it got up to 38 degrees today.

happy birthday, Gene!

after I logged off yesterday, started to feel body aches and chills, so the Moderna booster side effects kicked in about 24 hours after the shot...sluggish all day...didn't feel like a cigar or watching the Lakers game...went to bed early...slept about 10 hours....all is fine today
