Seven large black garbage bags plus a full 50 gallon garbage can (mashed down) filled with leaves from the mountain house today. Big tree in front is only 50% bare so another trip will be needed in about 3-4 weeks. Had to bring most of the bags back with us since they only pick up once a week and no bulk. Brick wall

Sheeesh. I thought cleaning up leaves from one tree was bad enough.

I have a Toro leaf blower/vacuum. Blow them into a pile and switch it over to a vacuum.

2 acres of my yard is thick with trees. I've probably harvested 30-40 over the years but you'd never notice. It's thickly wooded.

My old neighbor was a nut about leaves. For real he'd be out there with a bucket picking up every stray leaf. But he sold n moved. New girl gives no fvcks. She mows sometimes, but that yard has hit 10" more than once. Leaves (they all come from me, Gene cut down all his trees) don't seem to bother her either.

I mowed all 4 acres yesterday. Mostly chopping leaves, but some grass n weeds got knocked down. I didn't run the sweeper, I think I might get a bagger attachment for leaves. Old neighbor would do my woods and burn it all. I never got stuck with the full burden.

I'm all done with leaves, lawn mowing, and snow clearing. The landscapers do that $hit. Apartment/condo dwelling has some benefits.

A small Thanksgiving for us this year. Just me, my wife, her father, and his wife. I'm making some oven roasted root veggies, mashed potatoes, green beans with shallots, and a small orange cranberry bread for dessert. But then, after turkey day, my wife and I have a nice, three-day weekend! Hopefully it's quieter and more enjoyable than last year, since the day after Thanksgiving my wife's father went into the hospital for almost two weeks with COVID.

Good Tuesday Morning! It's a chill 37° on the way to 58° today. There is an active freeze warning, but as cold as the water is in the river, it's warmer than the air, so far.

I am off to the range today. I got my H-14R back rom Bergara and it appears to be working well. I took it to the range last week to get the scope adjusted and put seven rounds in a ragged hole at 50 yards. Now I'll see it performs at 100 and 200 yards.

Leaves are raining here too. I have a Stihl backpack blower I use to clergies the decks and our driveway, as well as out cut-de-sac, and a couple of our neighbor's driveways. I just blow the into the woods and let the worms to get busy.

Picked up a USDA Prime rib roast from Sam's Club yesterday. Usually I fry a turkey, but sometimes I do prime rib.

Momma wanted prime rib. Of course she did... it's 19.99 a pound for the prime stuff right now. d'oh!

4.7 lbs had a sticker of $93. Used the Sam's Club app and scanned it and got $20 off for some reason, so it was $73.

Gonz Yeah… we have leaves.

The pile goes the length of our lot (60 feet), about five feet wide and four feet tall.

We do that four times each fall, then one more miscellaneous clean up which is about half of the other.

of course the day before "the day before" is crazy at the office... Couldn't just be a nice calm day.

Iffin you are making turkey and happen to have some leftover stuffing and gravy on Friday, I highly suggest making an omlette for breakfast and folding in warmed stuffing and gravy. It takes years off my life, but it's delicious.

65/48 today w/ 10-20mph winds. Thankfully, the pool is heated to 82F. I froze my @ss off getting out of the pool and into some clothes.

Dental appointment went very well, thankfully no work needs to be done.

Did they give you a written denial of your claim and cite to a portion of your policy/contract? Happy to look at it. I have learned a bit about extended warranties/contracts and lemon laws over the years. Not saying they are wrong, but I hate watching people get franked over by insurance companies ram27bat

Been feasting a bit much lately. Also been avoiding the gym because it's so damn cold in the mornings...

Good thing I been walking the dog 4 miles a day.

Saw a family of 5 coyotes on our nature walk, yesterday. Tank was off leash and looked like he was about to go f--- one of them up, so I grabbed him and leashed him real fast. 1 on 1, he's got a puncher's chance. 5 on 1, he's dead meat. He's very friendly with other dogs. He was growling with hackles up... must know, instinctively, they are not dogs.

Found the wrist rocket in the garage for the next time we walk that area... latex tubing needs to be replaced so I ordered 2 replacement bands. I threw a few rocks their way, and they were unbothered by it. Looked at me and laid down under the bushes... but to be fair, my aim sucked and they were farther away than I could throw. Hence the wrist rocket and some 1/2" clay ammo balls. I suspect if I see them again, they'll know to fkn run next time.

In my area they are becoming very aggressive with people walking smaller dogs. Couple of incidents of attacking dogs while on leash recently.

Probably a move they made to thwart TG creating 100,000 posts in 3 minutes.

Of course this tech upgrade comes six years too late.

Tank is 60 pounds of muscle and jaws. Obviously I don't want him fighting, but I don't think one of them would even consider attacking him. 5 of them surely would if he got close enough. The area where we walk is full of jack rabbits and ground squirrels, so they're not going hungry.

Can't do that. This big ol' meadow area is smack in the middle of a neighborhood. No shooting.

https://tinyurl.com/mv9v8m5v

We walk the outside paths and it takes us about 50-60 minutes to go all the way around it. Those 5 coyotes are probably the "owners" of that whole territory. It is very hilly and folks like to mountain bike those trails. It's a good workout walking up and down the hills and the pupper gets to explore with his nose and exercise his brain as well as his legs.

Coyotes aren't stupid. They would have to be desperate to attack anything that could put up much of a fight unless they are hunting in a pack. Wild animals can't afford to get injured. But many of the dogs I see people walking are little lap dogs not much bigger than a rat with more hair. Any good sized rabbit could clean their clock.

Gotta love Taxifornia... Sarcasm

Water heater is 21 years old. I'm replacing the damn thing before it assplodes on me and causes me to spend more than I have to.

Welp... thanks to Taxifornia, permits, drip pans, expansion tanks, new this, that, and the other fkn blah, blah, blah... Grand Total of just under $2800 to replace it. The water heater is only $900 for a 50 gallon 40,000 btu, which is what I have.

One of my fishing buddies is a licensed contractor and plumber. He says it's an easy job and he'd do it Tuesday, but then I'd have a warranty on the unit, but not on new parts, labor, and the braising job required to replace it.

Plus... he's a sheriff's sergeant. If he was a really good plumber he'd prolly still be doing that, eh? LOL

Plumber is from Utah. Says it'd cost me less than half that in Utah.

Impressive! I was very unhappy when I had to pay about $1500 for a $680 50 gallon electric water heater replacement on a rental. It started leaking during the closure process so I had to have a plumber do the replacement. It already had a pan and drain, but the CPVC piping from the wall to the valves and the water heater were replaced with PEX, the shutoff valves were also replaced with brass ball valves. The pressure/temperature relief valve, that I would have replaced at cost was included, you do not want t re-use them.
