Probably I’ve missed it. What is the current state of you breaking the current hospital chains and doing a nearby travel contract?

Dan,

My daughter is a recruiter for one of the largest, national, locus tenens recruiters (250+ employees) in the U.S. She has been in sales, acquiring job openings and hospitals around the country, and which hospitals chains/groups not to work for.

She is specializing in anesthesiologists and nurse anesthesiologists right now. But, she but knows about the entire industry including RN placement, how to get job openings at some of the very best hospitals, who and who not to contract with and why, how things will really work for you, and what the true, top-end going rates are for someone with your experience, work ethic and willingness to bust your ass, what the local and out of town rates are in specific areas and whether who ever places you will rent you an apartment out of their own pocket (if necessary), and generally help you out, She will not solicit you. in any way. Period.

Better yet, she'll gladly do it as a favor to me, which I am transferring to you directly. I promise there will be 100% confidentiality to the extent she won't even tell me what you discuss. If you PM me I will give you her cell and office number and tell her to expect your call. I am happy to do this for you. She will be too!

the fairly large day care my kids attend sent an email yesterday to parents stating that they will be shutting down for two days due to the number of teachers out with Covid.

I really hope this "two days" doesn't turn into the "two weeks to flatten the curve" two years ago.

Good morning, folks.

59F heading to 75F today and sunny all day. The Chamber of Commerce loves weather like today's forecast.

Got to get the house ready for my daughter and her boyfriend, who are arriving from South Florida tonight for my wife's Birthday-Weekend which begins tonight and ends Sunday (even though her birthday is only on Friday). We always try to stretch birthdays to full weekends weekends whenever we can. They bring us all together.

Italian carry in tonight from my wife's favorite place. Colombia Cuban food tomorrow night, lamb chops on the BGE Saturday night and some lunches or breakfasts out!

Might even swim a today, if time permits. But, the pool I am temporarily going to is 30-35 minute drive both ways compared to my regular pool, which is like 3 miles away and re-opens this Monday. Might just let it slide until then, but probably shouldn't.

Looking forward to a GREAT family weekend!

How about you?

Good Thursday Morning! It's a clear 50° on the way to 64° today. Today I'll be making a recycling center run to dispose of the discards from yesterday's Christmas ornament re-organization. Hats off to my wife's bestie for helping, heck, performing the re-organization, a situation when OCD is turned into an amazin tool. Applause

Dan,

I believe you know real friends will tell you when you're full of it, I believe that 100%. That said, if you don't take up Robert's extremely generous offer and improve your situation, it's will be obvious, you enjoy drama and really do not want to change your situation at all.

Not taking advantage of the offer to improve things is absolutely your choice. None of us can presume to know exactly what is best for you, but I don't think I am alone in saying it's time to shit or get off the pot.

Yes, at one time or another, we all do, but sometimes we forget that Venting Avenue is a two-way street with no parking and speed limits. Herfing

Stretched.
Rode the exercise bike for a bit.
Shoveled snow (3rd time in 24 hours).
Dog walked.
Got a car insurance quote- was with my current carrier for 29 years. All the cross discounts, loyalty etc. New company, with better coverages- 15% cheaper. Going to get one, maybe two more companies into the fray.
Chit/chowered/Chaved.
Ate lunch.

Going to watch some golf. It will either hold my interest or help me sleep.

Be careful who you go with and try to figure out if they timely pay claims without hassle (hint: not Geico, Not Allstate, usually not State Farm, etc.) You often get what you pay for when it comes time for a claim. Some (a very few) still respect the fact that you have done business with them for so long, although it might not matter at all, depending on who you are with. We use Aetna/Travelers/First Floridian because they quickly pay claims fairly, without delay or hassle- like when my wife loses her jewelry pieces.

And no good Taco stands either. There are those non-nourishing just for fun tacos, but almost all their parking lots lead back to Venting Street.

I've had Geico in the past, as well as Allstate (way back) but have been quite happy with USAA.

Before I can signup for USAA, I'm going to have to stop by and talk to a recruiter.

Something to think about, we have used State Farm here in South Carolina and in Texas, with very good service. I hope this is a state to state variation. We also bought Long Term Care insurance from them as they were very well recomend.

I dunno... I think I'd just pay off the house and give it to the kid, get myself a plot of land, build the house I want with parking for the boat I want... and then get the boat I want. Done.

Start off by offering her a back rub. If she says No, tell her you’ll take one.

While she’s doing it, say Happy Birthdaaaaaay.

Appreciate the offer Robert. But I've already signed up with a recruiter and staffing agency for Northern Indiana that my former coworkers use and recommended. And ultimately I've already made a move till summer and told them I'm out for now.

Macs, I do vent here more than anywhere else.

Gene and 8track, I signed a contract.

Short of it is they offered me a retention package. I stay where I am, do what I do, get paid 20% more for the duration plus $6k bonus at 6 months. Got $3k up front to sign for 6mo. No change in my lifestyle at all. Just more money that will help with things. Paid for my truck repair already with the signing bonus.

Warmer over by you I see.

-3 on my drive home. I dressed for it though. Insulated overalls, boots, heavy coat, mittens, and my rabbit bomber hat. I stayed pretty warm until the truck got warm enough to make me uncomfortable, right before I got home and did my morning chores. Feed and water the chickens, feed the dogs, scoop the frozen poops atop the snow.

I hate the cold.

I have coworkers who will wear their scrubs to/from work, throw on a coat no hat no gloves no boots and they say it's a bit chilly. I think i would have frostbite if I tried that. I do not do well in the cold. 90 degrees I am happy as a clam. Being cold is painful. Being hot is just uncomfortable and smelly.

town next to my street (I live a few yards in from the town line) has recorded 11 inches of snow so far.
Blue Hills Weather Observatory, straight shot from my back yard across the Blue Hill Reservation and route 93, has over a foot...I live in between.

Fluffy stuff, maybe a couple more hours to go. Supposed to dry up later afternoon. But have to get it all cleaned up by this evening cuz some real cold coming and it will freeze solid.

Just finished a 5 miler in shorts and a jacket. Started out 44 but now it's a sunny 56 headed to 71.

Wife's brother just txt from Minn that it's -33 there. I'm guessing -33 and -3 are pretty much the same. UFF DA! If I had to put up with that you could just shoot me.

Never put a bow on a vacuum cleaner and give it to the wife. No matter how much she hints. Just let her buy it on her own.

Cold hater here too. Severe frostbite in the mid eighties. Haven’t had warm feet or hands November through March since. Good that hand shaking is out of vogue. The look of shock in peoples faces when they would encounter my icy mitt.

Happy to hear you were able to get some significant cash bumps. Same chit, different day but for more cash and a summer exit strategy is a much better place than where you were a couple weeks back. Kudos.

lolz

You got a point. My wife said she wanted a new vacuum. I got her other things, but also told her on her birthday she could buy whatever new vacuum she wanted because I didn't want to buy the wrong one... She did, and seemed happy about it.

Don't buy her a vacuum, you might get the wrong one. Let her pick it out herself.
