Damn, rfenst... how about suing the insurance company for the depreciation? Not right that you have to swallow the loss on an accident that was clearly not your fault.

No?

Deploy some airbags! Bend some frames! Total that sucker out and get a full value check.

Glad you're mostly undamaged

Glad to hear you are OK Robert. Same thing happened to me years ago at 65 mph in a one year old Jeep Grand Cherokee. Nobody hurt and they found the guy that hit me and kept going. Figured I lost a few thousand when I went to trade it in.

Robert, hopefully no c-spine issues pop-up down the road.

And I almost forgot, I hope everyone still has a roof over their head after last nights weather outbreak.

We did one duck and dive for about 20 minutes last night around 11:00.

More Duck weather here. High of 40, rain and more rain.

Hope the Southern Brothers are okay with all the severe chit going down.

In the category of True Tregedy, it has been reported by @mileycyrus, she was unable to fly into Paraguay yesterday.

And tornado victims think they have it rough.

I was on the phone with my car salesman trying to get out of my 2021 Accord Sport SE and into a 2022 Honda Accord 2.0T. Looked like it would happen without much more than $10/month more.

Then, a couple hours later, BOOM!!! I was rear-ended... with heavy damage.

Yesterday the trade-in value was $30-31k and my lease buy-out was only $24,700. So, even though the vehicle will be expertly repaired, that equity is erased because the car has been in a crash.

Poof... $5,300-$6,300 on paper- GONE IN A SECOND! BARF!

(Everyone seems to be doing well, except for my painful, contused ribs, which truly is the most important thing...)

Well... it was only a matter of time before it happened. Thankfully it ended with no injuries. And now Tank knows not to play with coyotes.

I let him run around because he burns more energy chasing rabbits, squirrels and birds (he actually got a bird yesterday). He was running through the scrub chasing a rabbit and flushed a coyote. Immediately gave chase, and I yelled for him to come back. He caught it and took a bite, then turned to come back to me...

The damn sh*t coyote was sneaking up behind him for a little revenge bite, so I started running toward them yelling at the coyote. Coyote had his head down and tail tucked... but was still coming for a nip. He nipped Tank on the butt and then bolted. I leashed Tank and got a bit of video of the sh*thead coyote running away. NSFW language.

Tank runs around that meadow like he owns the place, tail high, and strutting. The rest of the walk he didn't stray far from me and his tail was down and he looked nervous. Hopefully he learned a lesson today.

Lucky Tank got bit by one. Surprised the Lone Yote didn’t try to bait him back into a real ambush.

In the northwoods bars back in the 80s, I was the bait to start bar fights with big city people. They were committing the sin of talking up the girls from our area. My role was to walk over alone, talk enough chit at a table of three or four dudes, take a couple shots to the face, hit the floor, and listen as the six plus man cavalry came in to clean up the mess.

Received payment of free beer the rest of the evening.
It’s a weird feeling pouring beer in the mouth only to have it come back out from underneath the lip. Stings a little too.

Don’t know for sure. Think most people don’t go that route because they figure if they go after the $6,000, at best they’ll get 4k back and the have to choke up another 4k to the lawyer.

Of course Robert is probably seeking medical services yesterday and today with likely pain and range of motion issues. Pain and Suffering and loss of motion and quality of life depreciation needs to be indemnified.

See now, this is why we can't have nice things around here. Two days ago we send you guys a little front that I would call blustery. A little 15-20 mph wind, trace of rain in the desert and a few snow flurries in the maintains. So it gets through Texas and turns into a chit storm of tornados. WTF?

Nope. Got my ribs x-rayed and hope they'll improve over the next few days per the ER doc (I don't ever trust them on this ... which is another story...).

I don't believe in b.s. injury claims or even "padding" real good claims. I always "shoot straight" to maintain optimal credibility. And, I don't want what i don't deserve either. So, if this is all there is too it. I'll be very happy and won't seek a penny more than my ER-related medical bills.

Now, the diminution of value will be another issue. No one I know has made such a claim on a LEASE vehicle before. Insurance companies don't acknowledge loss of lease equity by claiming it belongs to the owner (Honda Finance Corp.). But, HFC won't assign the claim back to me to pursuit because they simply don't give a chit...

Anyhow, I don't know what your exact job in the insurance industry was or who you worked for, but I'd be interested to know because you know allot...

Love to help wherever I can. Background in healthcare (both sides of the divide). 15 years in Auto & Home insurance. In the training & development side of sales for the most part, some in client service.

Where I'm of little assistance is on the Claims side of things. It is a different language on that side of the house. Variables galore. There was a coverage option we sold called New Car/GAP. Buy a vehicle for 35k, drive it off of the lot, some jackwagon smashes into your car, totaling it. Insurance company writes you a check based on the 15-minute used vehicle- 27k.

If the policyholder selected that coverage, the insco writes you an additional check for 8k.

I'm unsure if such a coverage exists in a non-totaled situation. Or, if you can get some type of money out of the dude who rear ended you, decreasing the value of it. Haven't ever seen a lease agreement or a claim resembling your situation.

Wish I could be more help.

Slept 9 hours today. Thought work was gonna call and ask me to come in at 11p so I didn't set an alarm and just slept all day. Most of the time I can't sleep, but if I have no deadlines I can cram in a ton of solid sleep.

Woke up and wife was upset I slept that long. Said she planned on us going out somewhere tonight, and even sent the boy off to grandmas house for the night. I'd told her I was probably going to go in tonight before I went to bed, she said nothing about doing things tonight. She'd ordered pizza and made margaritas so we watched TV for a bit and she went to bed at 9 her normal bedtime.

Work never called so I guess they don't need me. Had the margarita and pizza, but now I'm gonna be up all night.

Welp... the meadow where we encountered the coyote is a no-go for a while. Maybe not gonna go back. The place is inundated with "foxtails". They can be deadly to dogs, so it is very important to keep them away from them.

https://pets.webmd.com/dogs/foxtail-grass-and-your-dog

Learned about these when I was volunteering at the shelter. Ran into a guy on our walk today who pointed them out to me around the meadow. They're freakin' everywhere.

Howdy dowdy all. Was in contact with Jeep customer service, 2022 Jeep Compass is only averaging 12mpg local driving versus the 22mpg should be getting. Appoint next month with dealer for diagnosis .Only 750 miles on.d'oh!

Told them I was averaging 17mpg with my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander local driving. Think

Rated at 177 HP and 22/34 mpg. Maybe the computer is defective? Or you have the emergency brake engaged. Think

12mpg is crazy, unless your gas pedal only has two positions... UP and DOWN.

I mean, it's a 4cyl, it's hard to NOT get good mileage.
