24. 36 for a high today. Warmest day of the last seven. Still 10 degrees below average.

Everything bagel, couple of eggs, sausage, hash browns and coffee.

Exchanged a few text with Bloody Spaniard. He asked me to say Hello to the good people and the people who like(d) him.
They don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Yo gentlemen, HHD.

I was scheduled for PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections for my knee after seeing a new surgeon but have decided to get a second opinion first. Seems to me from doing some snooping that they work sometimes for muscle related injuries by promoting healing but my issue is bone and meniscus related and it seems doubtful that will help.

Speaking of anti-climatic, gender reveals are now being canceled unless the parents are biologists.

Good Wednesday Morning! it's an overcast 57° on the way to 85° today. Going to a rosary and a viewing for our oldest son's Step Father-in-law. Funeral tomorrow, he was a devout Catholic so he wanted the full sendoff. If you are a Christian, your final destination is determined at death, it's too late for Pray so funerals are for the living.

The following is to striken from all textbooks and Google results:

Two of the chromosomes (the X and the Y chromosome) determine your sex as male or female when you are born. They are called sex chromosomes: Females have 2 X chromosomes. Males have 1 X and 1 Y chromosome.

And chromosome counting is to become a felony.

Mornin' dudes.

It's a cloudy 50 degrees at the moment. 60's and 70's this week. 80's next week.

Buddy has OT this month due to Stagecoach and Coachella concerts. Not sure how many trips we will get to do on good ol' Sea Bacon.

I'm totally ready for spring to get sprung.

Forecast for the next week or so is lows in mid 30's and highs in the low 50's with on and off rain most of the days. As the saying goes: April showers bring May flowers.

Here in South Carolina, we're in the middle of the annual tree orgy. The trees are greening out with pollen pods/leaves and it's "snowing" pollen.

40 in GB today. Might get to 46 which is average for this time of year. First day in 10 with the temp where it should be or warmer.

Am north of there today. Providing what is called Respite Care. Don’t think this is my jam, but sometimes you gotta do what you really should do. Am getting a few bucks for gas and a few bucks for the bourbon and tobacco bills.

So I sent the builder in FL a message about their homes, asking for information a few days ago. Since I got no reply from them, I called.

Apparently they are not allowed to "solicit" or even provide me information unless I get a realtor. Some BS California law.

So... I either have to get a realtor to work on my behalf (funk that) or a relative or friend in the area, or go down there and do it myself. Looks like I may be flying to Florida soon. *sigh*

My buddy Brad lives in Jax. I'll have to make a trip to visit him so we can go get sh*t worked out... need to pick house, lot, upgrades, put a deposit...

Just makes me want to leave CA even more than I already did... and I didn't think that was possible.

We have lots of special laws in California. This sounds about right. Prolly need a unionized realtor.

Lady told me the 2 states most people are moving out of... CA and NY... have these laws in place.

Another reason on the list of reasons to say "F--- You" to CA. And ya know what I love the most? The state of CA will have to pay me my pension through CalPers... and they won't be able to tax it.

God, I can't wait to do that last tax return... in the memo on the check to the CA Franchise Tax Board I'm gonna write "Eat a bag of d*cks".

Not to be outdone by CA or NY .... in NJ if you sell your home and purchase a new main residence out of state you are required to pay an 'exit tax' which is equivalent to 9% of the capital gains on your house or 2% of the sale price (not to be below $3,000) whichever is higher.

Can you sell, rent for a year, then move, or do they still come after you? If you sell at a loss, NJ should pay you to go. Fair's fair

Tax talk angers me. The FIL is always talking about inheritance tax, or death tax as he calls it. I get the concept of it being income for the the beneficiaries, but everything earned throughout the decedent's life was already taxed once. IRS is double dipping in this case. I call BS

Yes you COULD theoretically sell and rent for a year and then move but few people are willing to throw a year's worth of rent away when they just want to get the hell out of this state.

And yes - I agree 100% with you on the death tax. I remember when I was in law school we had some rather heated discussions about the topic in Wills and Estates class. lol

The government is always double or triple dipping.

You work and get paid - they take out income tax (taxed once for working and earning money).
You buy something from what you have left and you pay sales tax, gas tax, etc.. (taxed again for spending your money).
Wanna save it or invest it - taxed on trying to let your money grow by saving or investing it.
Buy property - taxed on purchasing it and taxed on owning it.
You die and pass on your assets to a family member, they tax you again.

Here in MA, if you buy a car, boat, trailer, motorcycle... - you pay MA sales tax on the transaction. Then every year you get to pay an excise tax on those vehicles for the simple pleasure of owing it. Sounds logical - if you own something the government should get it's pound of flesh out of you for the simple reason that you own something.

Here's a kicker that blew me away from a real world experience as a young pup.
- When I graduated college, I bought a truck in WI then moved to MA.
- When I went to register it in MA, I had to show proof of ownership, bill of sale and stuff. No biggie, that's standard practice.
- Turned out the sales tax that I paid in WI was something like 1% less than the current sales tax in MA.
- In addition to the standard registration fees, they said I had to cough up the difference in sales tax and I owed MA the additional money on a truck that I bought in WI. That was not anticipated.
- When I asked if, for example, if I bought the truck in a state that had a higher sales tax would I get reimbursed the difference by the state of MA. They laughed (literately) at me - nope it doesn't work that way.

Real world slap of reality of my 2nd experience with MA taxes.
- Fast forward to a year later.
- I get a bill in the mail that says I owe excise tax on the truck.
- Went into work the next day and asked a co-worker WTF is this excise bill that I got?
- He explained to me that I'll have to pay that tax every year and the tax goes to support the roads and stuff. But don't worry, it will go down. The amount you'll owe every year will based on what MA determines as the value of the vehicle and not the real value of the vehicle.
- WTF? Isn't that what the gas tax is supposed to pay for?
- More laughs... Welcome to MA, kid.

The only certain things in life are death and taxes.

Bucky - I'd be curious to know if anyone has ever challenged in court MA's ability to tax a sale that didn't take place within its boarders by an individual who was not a resident of MA when the transaction occurred? Under what authority does MA claim the right to tax a purchase made in WI? Theoretically then, the state could have 'taxed' you on every item that you brought into the state that was purchased anywhere else. Sounds like something that I'd challenger in court. I'm just sayin ......

Wow, I'd probably have become one of those maniacs on the viral videos, screaming at the helpless workers about my rights as an American citizen. The excise I've become jaded to over the years. IN just sneaks it into your annual registration fee, so it doesn't feel as blatant.

Happy Thur, peeps!

Last I heard the Fed death tax exclusion was $5.5 million per individual and $11 million per couple and I believe it is indexed each year. I'm not too worried about it.

Yep... CA registration for my truck this year? $625.

When I had my boat I got an "unsecured property tax: bill every year, based on what they thought the property was worth. So... I paid taxes on it when I bought it and then taxes every year until I sold it. Then... knowing that CA would fuck it up, even though we did the sale properly through the DMV, I kept my bill of sale and had to fight with the country to quit taxing me for a boat they KNEW I sold.
