Robocall from the town. No on street parking so the snow crew can deal with the roads. Gonna get a mix of sleet, snow rain overnight. Temps around freezing overnight but by 9:00 it's predicted to be in low 40 ish then all rain through the day. Inch to and inch and a half total precipitation.

WTF? It might freeze overnight but be all water by 9 or 10 AM ish? Why put the snowplow guys and equipment in action overnight to salt the roads for something that may or may not happen? Ugh.

I get it, best to be safe rather than sorry. I get it, test the sand/salt trucks to make sure they are good to go when the big crappy weather happens but why would you close down town street parking for the whole town for something simple as this? Potential of 1" of snow mixed with rain should be a no biggie in northern latitudes. I don't live in the Carolina's.

With that off my chest, I should beat the rush and buy a couple snow shovels and some ice melt for the up coming season. Not gonna need it this week but eventually I'll need them, or more specifically, my Son kids will need them as I watch him clearing out snow until I finish my hot chocolate and then jump in to help.

Last day of work for the week, yay!

Met a buddy at a shpo I have never been to but have been meaning to visit in downtown scottsdale. They do a booming online business (they are sly as a ____). Decent place, nice cigars. Very nice booze selection, although I didn't drink because I had to go back to the office and be responsible and such. It's very close to where I get my haircut, I see a trend emerging for my monthly trip the area.

Going to do a bunch of prep and pre cooking tomorrow to ease the burden on Thursday when the in-laws all come over so I can just drink and yell at people to stay out of my kitchen.

I order my cigars from that place. They ship quickly and usually include a couple extras for sampling. They seem to be out of Padron a lot, but I guess that's everywhere.

Found another spot here in FL. Got a box of AF Don Carlos #4 should be arriving today.

Been there many times for a herf but I sure don't think I would make my online purchases there as their prices even on specials are not very competitive.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I hope they are not at the same place. Then again it would be one stop shopping.

Son, daughter and son's girlfriend will be here in a couple hrs for the Thanksgiving weekend. My Mom sent some of her homemade breads (cranberry, couple zucchini, pineapple bread). Turkey is thawed. All the other fixins are here. Should be all set for pigging out tomorrow. I'll do the cooking and the kids can do cleanup.

I took the day off for a 5 day weekend but I have a 2:00 conference call. Other than that, it'll be a nice long weekend at home with the kids.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Good Wednesday Morning to All! It's clearing after last night's rain, 62° on the way to 65° today.

Mrs, Gene is making her sweet potato dish for tonight's pre-thanksgiving dinner. Our grandson's wife, a nurse, has to work tomorrow so she and her Mother, also a nurse, are having dinner this evening. They all love my wife's sweet potato dish as it involves much butter, brown sugar, pecans, and of course, freshly baked sweet potatoes.

Meanwhile, our younger son is driving in from Missouri arriving this evening. Tomorrow he is going to visit with his daughter whom he has not seen in about 14 years.

MUCH to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Pray

Enjoy, Gene!

I got a prime rib from Costco. Also gonna make some stuffing that my wife really likes. It's a meal on its own... I put diced chicken in it.

Wife has been occupying her time by making some side hustle money. She's a really good cook and baker. She has been making Filipino desserts, Filipino dishes, and she's really good at empanadas that one of her old coworkers taught her... and selling them to her friends from church and the other Filipinas in the area that she's met.

She even kicked over 10% to the big guy... even though I told her it was totally unnecessary. BigGrin

It was a great time, 100% outside on the grounds of the Hemingway Home and Museum.
Very pretty area for the ceremony, followed by great apps at an area near the back with it's own bar, and the dinner/music/dancing areas on the side yard...all top shelf. And the cigars were a hit...thank you very much!
And open bar all night...natch!

It was a bit warmer than customary but for all of us anything close to normal would have been hot...but it was like 89 all afternoon. Pretty humid. Might have set a temp record for Key West.

My hotel was directly across the street, but other than ease of getting home after the wedding it left a lot to be desired.
Switched our room after the first night but the wing where we moved to lost hot water that day and it took three days to fix the problem! Cold shower the day of the wedding...but as I told TLC, if that's the worst problem we ever have, we're living a pretty charmed life.

I believe my calm yet firm style of discussion worked better for compensation than the angry toned methods employed by some of our neighbors...I was refunded a little more than half of our hotel charges, which was a little more than I had in mind.

We spent 5 days there then drove with the friends you met in SD (Bonni and Ricky) to Miami. They flew home that night from there and we spent two days with one of our best friend's from high school and his wife...we totally love them...so it ended well. Treated them to a wonderful dinner at a local Peruvian restaurant, bought a big jug of Basil Hayden which had a dent in it by the time our second night ended...good time.

Flight home had delays and stuff but we lived to tell about it, so I guess that's the numbah one goal.

Enjoying the nice weather in Scottsdale this evening. Much nicer than Massachusetts this time of year. Stopped at Churchill’s across from the Ferrari dealership earlier. Very nice well maintained humidor. Picked up some Plasencia Alma Fuerte Robusto. Nice place and nice cigar.

Made deviled eggs for the first time.

It's a lot more work than I was imagining.

I was told not to bring a meat dish. So it's broccoli casserole and deviled eggs.

Constant rain these past 2-1/2 days. Seemingly 48 hours straight then mebbe an hour break and then rain again. Nothing right now but the skies are still cloudy.

Gonna be 45 degrees on the dog walk. Wife is already cooking dishes that others have ordered. I will make prime rib and stuffing later, and we'll probably be having dinner with the next door neighbors.

Happy Thanksgiving gentlemen!

A lovely 50 going to 72 and blue skies.

As is our tradition, Spunky and I will be out early for one of our favorite hikes in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. We are scheduled to spend two hours 10-12 this morning helping serve Thanksgiving dinners at a local charity. Last few years we have been on the coffee and punch detail.

Our own feast was prepared as much as possible yesterday and we will probably eat about 2-3 this afternoon.

Whatever you do today give thanks.

Cooking the Prime Rib. 30 minutes at 500 degrees. Turn off oven. Wait 2 hours to open it... Prime Rib is done perfectly and ready to slice.

I'll make the stuffing about 20 minutes before I slice the beef.

Happy Thanksgiving... er... National cigar Day!

Future SIL and I already smoked two today, the first in the jacuzzi around - 8am ERDMCS. The second was an H. Upp. Conn. #1. Going to try to smoke two more today!

Been eating breakfast, baked goods, shrimp cocktail and my wife is making hot dogs for lunch.

Can't wait for the feast.

Hope everyone enjoys today!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody...

I got rained on...have to isolate after testing positive for COVID on Tuesday...gotta avoid folks until Sunday...just my luck to lose my senses of taste and smell at Thanksgiving...prolly the only worse time of year would be Christmas...taking Paxlovid has helped with all the other symptoms

haven't had a cigar since last Thursday night, before the wall of bricks (fever, sweats, chills) fell on me on Friday night... but tbh, haven't really wanted one....my real celebration will be Sunday night
