Black Friday. Taking future SIL for a suit, shirts, ties, sox and shoes for the upcoming wedding. Suits are usually BOGO on BF so I might get a second one or I will get my son another one. Same with shirts. Also going to J. Crew- 60% + other discounts- for long sleeve t-shirts for the fall and winter here. Maybe some new shorts to replace the two pair I got paint on and ruined this week. More cigars. Football this afternoon. Lay about weekend, to say the least!

Man oh man what a holiday! Started on Wednesday with a concert of Nita Strauss and Wolfgang Van Halen. Thursday deep fried 2 turkeys, crockpot spiral sliced ham w/ Caribbean Rum Cask Single Malt Glenlivet, brown sugar, dijon mustard, honey and Vernor's ginger ale glaze, 8 lb standing rib roast and all the fixins...most of the family..2 train wreck football games to laugh at and deserts of carrot cake, chocolate cake and sweet potato pie. Go to work today...you could fire a gun off in this place but you'd have to aim really good to hit anybody. Joy.

Did some shopping.

Wife's getting a new vacuum for christmas. She's gonna be mad but she won't tell me what she wants and she fried her 2 year old cordless dyson by washing it in the sink full of water a few months ago. Costco had $200 off the next better unit so I ordered it.

Softtopper having $100 off and a free storage bag so it almost covers tax and shipping. Flight prices are still astronomical for our Florida trip in February. I'm not spending $2500 just on travel for 3 people. I've wanted a bed cap for a long time but been getting by with a cargo net. This will be good for Florida trip and camping and Gridlife events and it's light/easy enough to take on/off. $1k for the cap, $400 in gas I still have enough left for a theme park visit.

Haven't done any black Friday shopping. I did buy a TV on line from a black Friday deal. It was a price that was too good to pass up. Then again, I don't need another TV. The only rooms in the place that doesn't have a TV is the kitchen, bathroom and the hallway. I don't need another one. Devil on one shoulder, angel on the other. They discussed it. Maybe I should cancel the order. But the price is good so just buy it. What are going to do with it? I don't know. Just in case I need it... Logic prevailed. I ended up canceling the order after my daughter asked why do we need another TV and the only answer I could come up with was because it's a great price.

Kid's don't know what they want. One thing I'm gonna get is some Blue Man Group tickets. Haven't picked a date yet so didn't buy them. Thinking January-ish time frame when they have winter break. It will be an IOU until they settle on a date get their school and work schedules locked in. Two tickets for each kid so they can bring one friend or girlfriend or boyfriend. Figure a Saturday afternoon set of tickets. They can drive into Boston in the morning, have lunch in the theater district then catch the show. I don't know what else to get them since they don't know either. Maybe just give them cash or something.

I made a stern set of facts and rules and have done so over many years.
1) I don't need anything.
2) I have too much stuff anyway.
3) Spending time with you guys is worth more than any amount of money I can possibly dream of.
4) Save your money rather then buying me random stuff.

We'll see if they comply to my requests.

Happy post Thanksgiving to all out there. Gotta find a good turkey soup recipe to use the leftovers. I'm thinking turkey vegetable with wild rice soup.

I dont care for receiving gifts. I buy what I want, and I'm the sole income so it's my money getting turned into something I usually don't want.

But extended family we draw names from a hat.

Consumables are preferred - give me socks n underpants, cigars, novel snacks, hot sauce etc.

And no fuggin gift cards.

I love giving gift though. I keep notes in my phone if someone I'd buy for says they want or I notice something needs replaced. Got father in law a steerable endoscope. He buys and flips old mowers pretty often and that will allow him to see condition of the piston and cylinder walls and valves before buying. Last mower he got he was saying he wishes he could've pulled the head before buying.

Ya know... when you're told "free healthcare for life" you'd like to take them at their word. I understand that I've got it better than most folks paying for health care, but Tricare now has an annual enrollment? And copays went up again.

This is pure bullshit.

I know the feeling!!! I opted to keep my GEHA after early Med. retirement from my Federal Job... My Premiums have gone up every year significantly since ObumerCare BS... and now in the last 4 yrs. so have the co-pays, but I looked into jumping to Tri-Cares and they are even higher on both ends... d'oh! I started using the VA and without a rating they were hitting my GEHA insurance as backup... Prescriptions etc. and the MF's were turning my billing over to a collection agency before my primary insurance was re-imbursing the VA... WTF!!! finally get one 10% rating and no prescription costs... But the VA does not cover my "Trelegy" for my COPD... 30 day supply is $150.00 a month out of pocket!!!! DOH... Brick wall Brick wall d'oh!

My walk was cut short due to rain. Went to the gym instead. Didn't die, so that's a plus.

Dog is moping around because he didn't get his exercise. He hates rain... doesn't like the hose, either... and water in general is a no go unless he can walk in and stand up in it.

I avoid turkey leftovers by cooking prime rib. Nobody complains about prime rib leftovers.

Wife and I each had a slice day of, a slice the next day... and I froze 3 more nice, thick slices in a vacuum sealed bag for a future day.

Weird Sunday. I typically leave early to go through the car wash before work. Left at 1745 and saw only one car on the way to the car wash and maybe 2 dozen more on the way to work. Got to work at 1810. Car wash days I rarely arrive before 1840

When I had my previous dog, he hated the rain too. Almost to the level of being a pu$$y. Even dew on the grass, he'd prance around tying not to get his feet wet. If it was raining out and I'd open the door so he could do his business in the backyard and he'd look out the door then look at me as if to say "You're kidding right?" He'd hold it as long as he could then when I gave him another chance he'd sulk out the door, do his business as fast as possible and run back in.

It's odd. He was part yellow lab, part collie and some other stuff (100% mutt). Both of those breeds love the water.

Best I can figure is he caught the phobia when he was a pup. I took him fishing with me and a friend. Put him in the canoe with us. It was a perfect morning. The weather was calm. Sun was up. The lake looked like a sheet of glass. No waves or anything. Beautiful.

He jumped over the edge of the canoe and plunged straight down. Maybe he thought he could walk to shore. He popped back to the surface. No matter how much he tried doing the dog paddle and trying to walk on water, it didn't work. We pulled him back into the canoe and he never wanted to swim again and hated to get wet.

Oddly enough, he loved the snow and we would need to be coax him to get inside. Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe I should have taught him how to run the snowblower and work a snow shovel but, sadly, he lacked opposable thumbs.

Probably by design. Free food, free home, loving family. "I'd love to shovel the snow but since I don't have thumbs I'll take a nap while your clear the snow."

I love pets. They are companions. I grew up cats and dogs pretty much my whole life. I see them a family member and each have different personalities.

Chit. My dogs don't even seem like they notice it's raining. And snow, they're both long haired mutts and don't get cold. Hot sunny day? They wanna be inside laying on the basement floor.
