scary...but fortunately a happy ending...hope she recovers fully and doctors find the cause to prevent future falls...

only limitation of Alexa is the range that it can receive...if your wife happens to fall beyond the range...

maybe the wearable medilert transmitter would be better...

Glad to hear the your wife is recovering Rick. Definitely a medialert is in order.

Just wondering how she would get so dehydrated, not moving and inside for one shift. Is that part of the condition?

She had symptoms for the 5 days I was away, and ignored them...she has had a lingering infection due to neuropathy in her foot due to diabetes, and apparently a Urinary tract infection that wasn't registering on her pain scale...I guess it was the perfect storm, and it all came together at once.....Drs.were having a hard time diagnosing it...took all day, 8 to 10 hours before they had a diagnosis....

Thanks for all the well wishes guys...she and I both appreciate it

Went to my Annual White Mountain Boogie and Blues Fest last weekend,,,,great time

Got home Sunday, and went to work Monday afternoon....when I got home at 3am or so Tuesday, I found my wife had fallen at about 4pm or so Monday, shortly after I left for work. She was on the floor the entire time I was gone. She couldn't help herself get up, and her phone was on a counter out of her reach.

I found her and the dog curled up on the floor together when I got home....I immediately got her to the ER, and they spent all day Tuesday running tests and Dr. stuff....She had a really bad infection in her foot and leg(she's Diabetic), she also had a UTI, and was severely dehydrated(they gave her about 6 bags of fluid)

She was in the Hospital until about 7pm Saturday. She's home now, and things are healing and getting better. She still has the leg infection(cellulitis), but it is clearing up slowly.

It was pretty scary, this is about the third time in the last few years she's had this kind of infection....last time they didn't think she would make it....I think it may have been pretty close this time too, but they locked in on the correct antibiotics pretty quick this time....

Sorry this was so long, but I've been scared and worried about her for about a week and I just wanted to tell you all to let those you love know how much you love them and need them......My kiss goodbye last Monday could have been the last Kiss Goodbye EVER....Glad I was to tired to work OT last Monday and came home on time or it very well may have been our last kiss....I'm just Thankful she's still with me....Pray Pray

Scary stuff, Rmann.i fear my wife falling down stairs. Need to upgrade to a house with a first floor laundry. Can't picture the world without her. Regularly thinking about Moonman and his loss. It's never far from my thoughts.

To be 100 percent honest, as scared as I was for her, I was very scared for me....when I went home at night, and I was all alone, it made me see how life without her would be....I'm not afraid to be alone, but I don't think I like the way life without her would be...she makes me better than I am on my own....and besides, no one else gets my jokes...she doesn't really get them either, but she knows the right places to laugh...

I can barely stand you as it is... I'm sure what few good qualities you have are a direct result of your contact with her... Do whatever it takes to keep her around...

In all seriousness, did a little research on alexa vs life alert type things... I think you'll be better off with life alert for the sole reason that (as long as she wears it) if she falls and hits her head or loses consciousness, the call is made...

How many Alexas are there vs Amazon employee? Ever tried to successfully listen to 2 conversations at the same time?

You want something to be paranoid about, why is there a front facing camera in your television set?

Home safely an hour ago. Unpacked most of the things.

Writing up an expense report for the trip now so I can get paid back. Spent about $1200 on the trip but I'll get fuel and trailer repairs, and some of the groceries reimbursed. Probably out of pocket about $250 to work in the August Georgia Sun for a week... volunteer work doesn't pay well.

Just north of 200 gallons of gas right now. Gotta fill up tomorrow, probably another 20g, and bring the load up to Chicago.

Glad to know your wife’s OK Rman.
I would recommend getting her an Apple Watch.
She can even get Siri to call out for her.
There is also a health and activity monitor
that might be configured to call out if certain
vital signs are not within a specific range

BTW - this place ain’t the same without you.

Thanks, Izon mentioned the Apple Watch in an earlier post, and it's on the list. I'm doing a little research on that and the medilert systems available, and I'll probably make a purchase this weekend when I have a little time...between work and all the Dr. appointments, and VNA and physical therapist visits, there isn't much time to get much done....

Thanks to all you peoples for the recommendations and the support...Pray

Set up an appointment with Human Resources for September 16. I can retire at 50, and I will be 50 in a couple months, so I want to look at my options.

I don't think I want to retire just yet, but I do know I want to get out of CA and LE at this point.

I would say take a long look at Alabama, but based on the state of our correctional system you’d probably want a career change as well.
