I would suggest going with something like, "Kavanaugh says he would pardon Cosby in new Jell-O ad." It's so overt, it's covert.

seems the GOP couldn't muster enough votes on a floor vote to proceed...that's the only explanation for the one week delay...not sure if the FBI can conduct a full investigation in one week, so they'll have to mobilize a larger team and focus on key witnesses...it'd be surprising if they uncover any more "evidence" or facts, to clear Kavanaugh or to support Ford's allegations...but this was a significant concession, given the rancor among the members of the SJC...

maybe there is some hope for the Senate to restore some dignity and lend credence to its self-professed aspiration to be the deliberative body that weighs all facts before decisions are made...

Anthony I am talked out on this. You think this hurts the democrats, I think it hurts the republicans. No surprise there. The hurt I think we can agree on is this hurts the country. Politics has always been vicious, but this is beyond vicious. I am not even sure how to describe this. It seems like the days of having differing opinions, but still respecting the other person are gone. I find that to be a shame. I understand the game the democrats are playing, but do not like it. The republicans played a similar game with Merrik Garland and won. I didn't like that either.

so...the Senate will just revert to being partisan hacks...like I'm afraid Kavanaugh will be if he's seated ...

I'm still disappointed that the majority on the committee didn't adhere to their pre-set conditions, one that was supposed to be fair to both Ford and Kavanaugh. Their lady prosecutor went the entire way on their behalf when Ford was testifying. When it was Kavanaugh's turn in the barrel, she started off on behalf of GOP members. Kavanaugh was doing his best to answer but appeared hesitant and unsure about some details. His tone was respectful and courteous, but he seemed unsteady...

then Lindsey Graham put a stop to the supposedly fair process, which might've been probative of something if allowed to continue...but it got shot down...not fair...

Maybe the GOP majority, while trying to protect itself from looking like villains in questioning a witness, have stumbled onto a procedure that would have better results, regardless of the party in power, when hearings of this type are needed. Let an out-side non-partisan exper conduct the examination of the witnesses in an open hearing, and then let the members of the committee do follow-up questions after the testimony. This may replace the purely partisan speech making that this process is now.

It is clearly already legal....

Hell... I don't know what he did or didn't do.

But I know that the reps are trying to push thru a candidate who should have been dumped for one that didn't have the risk associated with them and that makes this hilarious.

Its not like he is super qualified. Hell he can't handle a little pressure without getting upset. They probably have a list of other judges who are just as qualified, but haven't been accused of sexual assaults and alcohol abuse.

The risk here is that more information might come out over the next week that would keep him from getting confirmed.

I don't know if I said it already or if that was in a post that got lost with an internet issue... But we are looking at 2 options only for SCJs...for the next 2-6 years trump will nominate "conservative" (read likely anti gay rights and anti abortion) judges to support the Evangelical azzholes... We can either get:
1- super "conservative" judges who just sit there being conservative judges

2- super "conservative" judges who we get to mock for being rapists or sexual assaulters or pedophiles or dog-fkkers....

There will not be a judge nominated who anyone other than the trump republicans likes... And that's fair. They won the election. But to pretend any of this is democratic strategery is ridiculous. They don't get to choose the next one if they find a reason to not confirm this one.

No... As far as I'm concerned the only good option here is one which will at least provide me with amusement while having to deal with a conservative judge.

it seems that something happened in a public elevator in the congressional building...this ties in with the thread about Ted Cruz being hounded out of a restaurant by people sending him a message...

in a scene captured by reporters with video cameras, Flake was getting out/in of an elevator when several women got into the elevator with him and explained they were there as victims of sexual misconduct, and urged him to do the right thing...he seemed to be visibly moved and later made his request to the Judiciary committee...

politicians need more in person contact with the people they represent...

and yes, Flake is retiring, which makes it easier for him to do this...none of the other 10 GOP senators on that committee would've even thought of doing something like that, even if they held sincere doubts about Kavanaugh...

Dude.... stop playing whiny victim.
The dems just confirmed a judge last year. There was no issue. No one claimed he was raping anyone.

If "doesn't have rumors of sexual assault" is too hard a criteria to meet....

all that would be fine...no problems with his family background, education and judicial experience...other qualifications factor into an assessment of his fitness...let's remember that no one is entitled to sit on the bench of SCOTUS...that honor is reserved for the best and brightest, a judgement made by a majority of elected Senators...many nominees throughout history have been rejected with similar legal training and experience, for a variety of reasons...

Here are some reasons why I don't support him for SCOTUS, before Ford allegations:

his experience as a law clerk for a judge who helped him climb the ladder, a judge who resigned in disgrace under a cloud of sexual misconduct, a cloud Kavanaugh incredibly claims he didn't see, a claim that all the other clerks who worked for the judge at the same time says was very clear...

his failure to release thousands of work documents created during his time working for the Bush Administration, when a controversial war was waged, amidst controversy regarding the treatment of POW's, practices which were later ruled unconstitutional ...

his legal writings that afford absolute/unitary power to the office of the President and his claim the President is immune to criminal prosecution while in office ...which happens to be a belief shared by the very President who nominated him over the objections/advice of the Senate Majority leader...

his lack of candor, credibility and evasiveness during senate confirmation hearings about a host of issues, including abortion, stolen emails...

his performance during his confirmation hearings...deer in the headlights looks when tough questions were asked...unexplained and lengthy pauses followed by non-answers...inconsistent statements about previous positions about legal matters...all led me to think he is not qualified...

Does the timing not throw any kind of flag to you..?? Why not bring this up before the 30 hours of drilling he went thru by Congress..??

Would the previous appointment given the court a majority..?? Huh

Kavanaugh has a clear history of ruling by the law without bias.. it's been the Resistance.. and the damage is done..

no, the timing doesn't add up to a vast left wing search and destroy mission, as Kavanaugh claims...

a claim that should make any person who goes before a SCOTUS with a Justice Kavanaugh sitting trying to advance a liberal cause, whatever the merits... he has made his contempt for any Dem very clear...

I just received a joke text from my buddies:

Ms. FORD: "THE DRY HUMP FIRST WORLD PROBLEM TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE LIGHTWEIGHT"
NEXT TO "Garth" ( Dana Carvey/ w- long blond hair and thick black glasses) of WAYNE & GARTH from "WAYNE'S WORLD"

Funny as all get out....

"Traumatized for life" by dry humping is WEAK.

Finally an adult not digging in to either side based on the game alone. The Dems used this as an ambush and the reps wanted to slam this through without investigating or caring if he sexually assaulted someone due to their understandable anger. Not even a cursory investigation has not been done. Not even basic interviews of potential witnesses.

All I wanted was a fairly quick looksie by the fbi with interviews under oath. Then vote. If there is nothing more than we have today after the investigation confirm him. If he lied about anything can him. If anyone else lied prosecute.

Thank you Sen. Flake.
