That I recognize and agree with that. Play the game while trying to act objective and claim you are not playing the game.

To be honest I feel very much that way. Stop playing the game. If you don't stop how can we expect them ever to?

Pretty sure you're not retarded, so I'm pretty sure you definitely get it...

Dems will bring up person after person after person to say something bad about kav and any other conservative white nominee put forward and demand investigation after investigation... The only - only - reason this is being done is the long term goal of preventing trump from seating another conservative justice on the supreme court...

Cons won't risk that happening, so they'll push kav through...

To pretend like any politician on either side of the aisle is doing anything out of a sense of moral duty is retarded... We all know why this is happening... Stop with the act...

This makes no sense. Trump nominated gorsuch. He got confirmed. He did not get accused of sexual assault by anyone.

You're claiming this will happen again and again when this is the first time it's happened, and it didn't happen a year ago.

Honestly... what do you think they'll get away with on that?

So the mid-terms happen. Maybe after the mid-terms they have a dem majority in the senate. So?

Trump is still president. It isn't like he's going to suddenly start nominating left leaning justices. They'll have to eventually confirm someone.

That's ridiculous. That makes no more sense than someone just accusing republicans of only nominating rapists, cuz that's just what they do and stuff....

If you are going to say they are doing this for reason x.... then it would only make sense to have a rationale as to why reason x would help them.

I'm not sure how it all works, but don't you think dems hope to stop the nomination of any supreme court nominee until trump is gone?

The prosecutor isn't bad, but seems to betray a little more R bias than I expected....maybe I'm just projecting what I expect to hear on MSM later...lol

I'd much rather listen to Ford and the prosecutor than the fn Senators.....not a one of them has added ANY value and its rather nauseating every time one of them opens their mouth...'on all sides'...:)

I suppose in theory they could.
But not confirming anyone for 2-6 years is not exactly a great plan.

It's simply not realistic... and would give the opposition too much fodder. I suppose it's possible that's their master long term plan, but I don't really buy it.

If they were willing to stall this one to be able to then not confirm anyone for 2-6 years, why wouldn't they have done the same for gorsuch and submitted sexual assault claims for him and everyone after him until now?

Accusing this of being a strategic and patterned accusation, when we have seen no pattern and the strategy just doesn't seem that worth the effort..... isn't really great.

The prosecutor seems fine. She's doing what she was paid to do.... I have no problem with her leaning right. She's representing republican congresspeople....
I do agree that the dems are really not adding anything... every time one of them gets a chance to speak it's just soapbox "yay you for being here" stuff... not actually asking questions which support anything. Would be more valuable if it was just her and her lawyer answering the prosecutor woman's questions.

My wife just explained that to me....for some reason, I naively thought the prosecutor was just there for the entire committee... to ask questions and just sorta get to something approximating facts.

Nah... it was an interesting choice, the republicans chose rather than to ask her questions themselves to have their entirety represented by one woman.

I think they are trying to avoid the optics of a bunch of old white men badgering a woman.... probably smart

a few takes...

why doesn't the prosecutor or the Dems ask Ford how she met Kavanaugh and what other prior contacts with him occurred before the alleged assault...

during the break, it seems Lindsay Graham would've preferred to ask questions himself....

given the restraints of the setting and the lack of a foundational investigation, she was basically poking around with what was already known...not an ideal process for getting to the facts or the truth...

Ford did seem to have more testimony about prior contacts with Kavanaugh, which would've made clearer how her memory of who Kavanaugh was, and therefore was not mistaken in her accusation, but she was cut off by Grassley and then the prosecutor, who asked if there were other sexual acts...

we are looking at Thomas vs Hill II, she's sure something happened, but it's also possible, likely she's mistaken...

yeah, Frank...sorry....lol....this whole Kavanaugh thing seems to quickly alternate between fascinating and tedious....I'll read everything I can get my hands on for a couple days and get burned out and just want it to be over --- I'm getting better conditioned to the 24 hr news cycle news with a good dose of in-depth study of 'overlooked' issues sprinkled in...

it is tedious, but I'm a glutton for punishment, and want to compare Ford's and Kavanaugh's testimony and demeanor...

to make a more complete and accurate evaluation, it's best to see it when it happens...

we are limited by the amount of time the questioners are given, and there were at least two times when Ford might've been on the cusp of making perhaps an important point and had to be interrupted and cut off by an artificial time restraint...will Kavanaugh be treated likewise?

agreed, delta

and, I don't think today's hearing is tedious.....I'm just sorta burned out on the whole Kav thing.....funny, though....coincidentally, Hirono is always sort of alternating between fascinating and maddening at the same time, she's smart as hell....and such a partisan witch ....makes a sharp point and then tries to stick you with a dull blade

It will also be interesting to see if Mitchell, the AZ prosecutor hired by the GOP because of her experience in investigating sex crimes, will question Kavanaugh as her instincts would drive her if she were looking into this as a sex crime with Ford the victim and Kavanaugh the suspect...

if so, her manner of questioning would be more confrontational with a suspect, not a victim...we shall see if this plays out...

still at work.

did hear an opinion on NPR this morning that he may have boxed himself in on his earlier interview by going with the virgin/athlete/eagle scout squeaky clean story to the nation...(since questioned by fellow party animals at school)...

Commenter felt if he now answers questions that contradict that choir boy interview, he could damage his credibility...which is all this hoopla may be about in the final analysis.
