Was the first time she's showed Cold Paw since we had her. The three blocker was a bit much.

Purging the house and garage... putting stuff up on Facebook marketplace, one item at a time, for $5-$20 each... I drag the item into the driveway, give it 4 hours to sell or be stolen... if it's still there after the alloted time, it goes in the trash... if it's gone, I check the mailbox for money...

it's working out pretty well so far... garbage can is full, I've got $30, and I found out my neighbors are all either honest or don't want the stuff that I also don't want...

An inexpensive trail camera would add to the fun.

I left an empty DeWalt battery drill box on the trash bin last night. It was a nice plastic case, but who keeps a hand tool in the case?

if items are still in good, usable condition, the Salvation Army will gladly accept them to resell or donate...

we're helping my sister clear her three bedroom condo as she prepares it for sale, so she can move to an assisted living senior center...made two trips to Salvation Army with four carloads of stuff...we've got our spare bedroom half full of her stuff, which she'll have to go through...she still has more stuff than will fit into her new one bedroom place...

Didn't go in. Bought Portillo's beef sammiches instead. I did call and ask the nurses on the floor how it was and was told "manageable". If they were drowning, I'd go in.

Beefs n beers.

On the couch thinking about a garage cigar. Might do that.

49/74 today

Thinking of doing a sidewalk from the driveway around to the pool. Pavers, concrete or maybe flagstone? One problem is the underground sprinkler system runs right there and would need to be moved because it springs a leak sometimes.

Think I'll have a cigar and just ponder.

Manscaping ?

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Be careful down there.

You could run the sprinkler line through some 4" PVC running under the sidewalk. The PVC will stop any leaks from rock abrasion, and if you put a connecter on each end of the funny pipe in the PVC, if it does spring a leak, you dig up both sides of the PVC conduit, disconnect the piece running under the sidewalk and just pull that section out and replace it.

Mine runs under my driveway and that's how I have it set up now.

Ah, Arizona landscape...
Do you guys have lawns? How big? What kind of grass(es)? How often do you have to water? What color is it this time of year?

... Or just call either the lawn guy or the sprinkler guy to do the work.

Same for my driveway. Unfortunately, the sidewalk would run right over the water line for over 55 feet. Prolly easier to move the water line out of the way. I'll ponder that some more.

Mine is all rock and desert landscape right now. Underground bubbler drip irrigation at each plant and tree. Timer runs about 20 minutes on each station each day in the winter and increases to 45-60 minutes in the summer each day. Most folks have Bermuda grass for summer and overseed with Kentucky Blue grass for winter. Both dark green. Some just let the Bermuda go dormant until spring which is prolly about Feb 15. Wink

after struggling with a lawn in the desert during a drought, my wife and I decided to go permanent green...artificial turf...it'll pay for itself in about 6 years of much lower water bills and no monthly gardening service...

This is what my sister and BIL did the same thing. They live in the high desert of California. It looks great and is surrounded by raised planters full of flowers and a few vegetable plants. My sister has a green thumb.

I just did a full lawn expansion and reno. went from 750SqFt to 1000SqFt. Currently have ChampionGQ Rye down for the 'winter' months, and will replace the old common Bermuda with Arden15 Bermuda in March-ish...

I’ll see my grass in April. Of course the concrete guys tore the heck out of it in November. Will have a landscaper tidy things up in the Spring.

Artificial turf/rock in the back yard. Grass in the front that a yard guy cuts and trims. I do my own fertilizing and weeding.

Tenacity... look it up on amazon if you have any weeds at all. Gotta get it with the surfactant and dye, and you'll need a sprayer. I have a 2 gallon sprayer, but a gallon does my yard and 3 of my neighbor's yards. Potent stuff, but it kills a boatload of weeds and doesn't kill your grass.

After the sidewalk, you'll have to put in a nice Koi pond... maybe put in a nice shrubbery in behind it... only slightly higher so you get the two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

I have a specific strain of St. Augustine known as Floratam. Nothing else will survive here. It's a water and fertilizer hog. No trees except palms shrubs and the like where I put them in. I would much rather have low to no water xeriscape that would not require anything else. $200/mo for landscaper, water, sprinkler dude and lawncare company. What a waste of money I can do nothing about.

After all the fine manicuring tips, discussions of what flavor of grass for spring, winter, fall, how much to water... after you get all that... you get this.
