Completely off topic but yet relevant for random off topic non-relevant posts.

I had no clue that we are due for $hit ton of wind and rain this weekend. They caught me by surprise when I went in today and there was an all hands conference call to plan for the hurricane.

Me: What Hurricane?
Them: The one coming this weekend.
Me: We don't get hurricanes in MA, much less in our area 100 miles inland.
Them: ?
Me: Whatever, how long is this call going to take?
Them: ?

(Me thinking in my head... I'm so done this crap. Just give me a monkey job stocking shelves or something)

Soo... my local Wally World is shutting down all online and call in pickup and deliveries for Sunday and Monday. Prepping for no delivery trucks for those two days too. I'm betting that freezers and coolers on the floor will go down again. Then it will be a fire drill to clear out the floor stock and cram what we can into walk-in fridges and freezers in back.

On the flip side, I'm guessing if the coolers go down for a couple days (again) there will be another Tuesday sale day The meat that has been sitting in the back coolers/freezers will be coming up on their "sell by" date. If they are not on the sales floor, they'll need to liquidate them before they hit the sell by date.

You can never have enough meat. (That's what she said)

Morning. Coffee now... maybe gym, not sure yet.

64 degrees with a prediction of 77. In August? I'm not complaining, mind you...

Slept in a bit this AM. Latest forecast for the hurricane is to go right over us. By the time it gets here it should have lost a lot of it's punch. Expect the show to start tomorrow around noon and end Monday morning. We have a computer project to get done by Monday morning, but I haven't even received any significant data yet (it was supposed to start rolling in Thursday morning). IDGAF if it gets done on time or not.

Cut my hair this morning. Chit was getting too long for bar soap and extending my shower time. I gauge when I need a haircut by whether or not I have to scrub the soap off my head or it just rinses off. I don't keep up with shaving it for the same reason- too much time.

Took a cigar to the garage but just had a beer and calling it a day. Time for bed.

Enjoy your Saturday

Headed to God's Country. If weather permits, we'll be able to float the river for a third time this summer.

42% chance of rain.

End of this term and final projects are due by midnight tomorrow. The school does 8 terms/year - two months/term rather than quarters.

Cybersecurity course stuff is done. I need to button up the Humanities course final week stuff. I've read the outline of the assignments but haven't put much thought into it. It's a silly 100 level Humanities course to fill in and check the box of a Humanities elective/requirement.

Here's what we gots to do.

Week 8 Assignment 1 (cut and paste):

Search online for a news report about an artifact from the humanities involved in a religious controversy, and answer the following questions. Consider searching the religion section of CNN or similar sources.

Provide a link to the news story and write a short (1-2 paragraph) summary of each side’s position.
How do you think the controversy was impacted by each party's interpretation of this artifact?

This activity is graded based on completion.

Week 8 Assignment 2 is an essay (cut and paste)
The enduring relevance of the humanities is that they encourage us to consider a number of “big ideas.” What is culture? How do we go about studying it? What is the relationship between cultural artifacts and the culture in which they are created? Between artists and the creators of cultural artifacts and the things they create? How is human meaning generated through cultural creations?

We humans seem driven to express and create in our search to understand and be understood. You will use the ideas you have studied throughout the course in addition to the insights you have gained from your deep thinking about your chosen artifact to discuss why humans are driven to express themselves in so many ways. You will draw conclusions about the reciprocal relationship between forms of expression and the context in which they are created and experienced.

Time for a bootleg run to NH (the MA/NH is like a 15 min drive away). Get a carton of cancer sticks in NH then hit Duguay’s Chicken and Seafood (https://duguayschickenandseafood.com/). Kinda craving fried food today.

Duguay’s has been a town favorite for like 50 years. Suspiciously, it burned down about 10 years ago and they rebuilt it to serve again under new ownership. I'm sure there's a reasonably good explanation. Prolly a grease fire or someone left an apron on the stove or suptin... I can't think of any other logical explanation for why it burned down.

Henry and Tommy paid a visit late at night.

While they were waiting for the place to torch, Tommy was trying to convince Henry to go on a double date so he could nail a Jew broad who was prejudiced against Italians.

How did you not see that as the only explanation?

Maybe, but the town is overrun by generations of French Canadian heritage... Canucks are suspicious by default.

Names have been changed to protect the innocent but the proposed scenario... well... let's leave it up for the Hardy Boys and Encyclopedia Brown to figure out. No skin off my nose, just itchin' for fried food.

Was that the Tommy who used to work on the docks? Union went on strike, he’s down on his luck.

Good Sunday Morning! Cloudy and raining today.

Back to the shop this morning to continue PITA electronic assenbly of my motor controls for my bullet and brass collators. I've got good old microswitch, photoelectric and proxmity detector controls on various models to try each method.

The microswitch is a simple mechanical switch handling the ful motor current and takes some fiddling of the switch actuator to work reliably.

The photoelectric is good, but requires more wiring, includung the LED light and photocell wired and installed in a drop tube. The photocell control boards use a tiny relay to control the motor rather than an electronic relay.

The proxmity sensors, essentially a metal detector in operation, is prewired so that helps. The proxmity sensors cost more than the photocell boards and they require an external relay to control the motor current. I'm using an electronic relay which makes them an attractive, no moving parts, choice.

Mississippi pot roast in the crock pot a few hours ago.
The warm smell of simple things wafts through the apartment.
Laundry in the dryer... prolly won't fold it, just stuff it in the basket.
Windy and rainy outside.
Gotta do some Franking essay about Human Expression or something or other before midnight tonight.
Nappy time.

Not yet. Took him to a puppy dog water park. He goes in the water, but he wants his feet on the ground. When he fell in the deep end he swam right back to the shallow water. He's not much of a swimmer.
