I prefer something that is hands on and not something where I have to spend a majority of the day in meetings and BS.
I'll be a new grad so I'll be low on the totem pole in this new environment which is fine by me. Local IT help desk grunt, network maintenance, day to day average fix it guy.
I haven't looked into what's out there in my area yet, I still have about 9 months before I graduate. It's a dynamic field and even more so in the last few years with the COVID thing.
Time will tell. Probably will only make half of what I did money wise in my previous career and I'm OK with that. It's not all about money.
I do miss the engineering challenges and stuff though from my previous work - I learned a ton and loved taking on new projects and watch blossom to completion.
Maybe I land something where I can do both. Maybe there's something out there where I can use product/process engineering experience (I loved this stuff - Lean Mfg really sunk it's claws into me) and also be an asset doing some IT work. Experienced engineer, rookie IT dude looking to learn more.
