I'm a 100% fan of yoga pants... as long as they are worn buy the appropriate people.

My job at the circus would be much more bearable if there was more eye candy to watch. Sadly, it's like a 95% I need eye bleach, 5% I'd tap that.

Since I don't do much other than people watch, it's a mental game to pass the time.

It's in the works still.

Mechanically all set. Electric motor front wheel was easy to swap out. The battery pack that I bought took a bit of time to fuch with since a shock absorber for the back triangle sits in the main triangle of the bike. It didn't fit in easy as advertised, was a c#nt hair too big and I needed to dremmel some of the mounting brackets. Been doing it in the living room (carpeted with a drop cloth underneath) Lost a little 4-40 pan head screw in the process somewhere. Had to just go with two mounting screws on the little bracket. Ended up finding the third this morning walking barefoot in the living room (like stepping on a tiny f-in tack). How it ended up 5 feet away from my assembly area, I have no clue but it found me.

I tried to go frugal when bought the battery pack, the controller, and the wheel motor - I kinda did it in a piece wise fashion so the wiring connectors were all different. Had to buy some different crimp connectors to mate them all together. Did that this past weekend. I get juice out of the battery (learned that by mistake, it makes a nice spark if you cross the + and - wires). Doesn't seem like it's getting juice to the motor though. I'm missing something that is probably obvious.

The hand breaks are supposed to cut out the motor. Then the motor should kick in when you twist the throttle but something electrical ain't engaging. What was supposed to be a 2 hour retrofit has turned into a on and off weekend project for the past couple weekends.

I probably see about half a dozen electric bikes buzzing around town each week. I'm thinking of taking it to the local bike shop downtown and dumping it off with all the parts. "Here ya' go. Make it work, and tell me what I owe you" type of thing.

Part of me says to back out and go back to human power. The bike is not my main mode of transportation and I don't really need it but I'm a dweeb for technology, I'm stubborn and refuse to punt.

At this point I'm about $500+ into the "upgrade." In for a penny, in for a pound. If it cost's me another $200 for the local mom and pop bike shop to get it going... well then... I'm supporting my local community along the way. They are good peeps, I don't mind giving them my money to keep their small business going.

Meybe they can put a little plow on the front and I can make some coin plowing sidewalks this winter.

Apple season is around the corner. Here in MA we have a bunch of apple farms all around me, the grocery stores will soon have a bunch of varieties to chose from.

Apple cider, homemade apple crisp and apple pies, and a variety of eating apples... that's one thing to look forward to in the fall.

That…….. sounds horrific. I’m barely technical enough to get the mail.
I’m intrigued at the concept of the EB. Don’t want the size and expense of a motorcycle. Scooters are too feminine.
Like peddle power of regular bikes.
Where I can see the advantage is spring/summer/fall transportation to the cigar lounge.
It’s about seven miles, almost exclusively down hill all the way. Going uphill, with a lungful of smoke, through about 12 blocks of a dodgy neighborhood after dark makes me want some extra juice.

Good Thursday Morning! Heading to the dentist today, I hope they do not find another boat payment. horse

Bucky, unless they sell those conversions they prolly are not going to want to do the installation. If you have a multimeter check your connections, make sure there is a charge in the battery pack and that there isn't some sort of shipping block that isolates the batteries. Re-read the installation information, look for YT videos on the same setup and you'll figure it out.

Oh, and that screw you found with your foot, it's not critical, if it was it would be in that dimension where critical parts go and never return.

Just woke up again. Left house at 4:45am to drop son and his friend off at the airport. They are going to see my son's BFF friend for like 5 days or something. BFF graduated finance from FSU before pandemic and landed a great job with IBM starting at $80k+. And, he worked from home here in Florida for 1,5 years during covid lockdowns and banked all his earnings. So, he could afford to live in Manhattan until his pay increases/bonuses allows him to and Noah gets a decent, free place to stay in the city.

Having a minimal procedure (RFA) on Tuesday and can't take my anti inflammatory until then. My neck is killing me even though I took a muscle relaxant this morning Going to the lap pool to see if that might help. Lots of muscle relaxants and stuff until Tuesday. Not looking forward to this.

It probably shouldn't be as big of a project as I lead on. I think part of the issue is ummm... user error.

Issue #1: Prolly could have bought a smaller battery pack that would have fit better if I took the time to pay attention to what I had for real estate vs what I bought. I bought the biggest one that was rated for the motor - from what I read it's like conservative 30 mile range between charges if I run it full electric and depending on topography.

The main unit also has peddle assist which would increase the range. I haven't hooked that part up yet. Gotta take off a peddle crank arm, slip a collar on the shaft (that's what she said) so it can sense you peddling. You can peddle to save electricity and and have the motor work with you or work full on when you stop peddling then use the throttle - think Prius hybrid type of thing.

Not having this hooked up might why my motor doesn't come alive in my living room bench test. Maybe its for the best. Maybe if it did come alive in the living room, I'd be paying for a new window as my electric bike drove itself through one of the living room windows.

Issue #2: Prolly should have bought a complete package rather than tying to go frugal and buy each component individually. Blindly thought they would be like a Lego kit of plug and play... turns out this is not necessarily true.

Yeah, I have a multi meter to check the connections. The battery pack is fully charged and has juice. Now that you mention it, there's a separate wiring harness with an inline fuse that I didn't put on. I'm sure I'm missing something simple in connecting the battery pack to the controller. Just haven't set any time aside to focus on it.

It's a little side project with low priority. The first part was just getting everything mounted.

179 this morning. I told you... 2 lbs of water due to all the salt in the pizza.

Today I made those pork belly burnt ends I was telling Danm about. They're actually finishing up right now, I just put them back on the smoke from braising.

2 hours on smoke (with plenty of good bbq rub). 1 hour braising in a covered foil pan with BBQ sauce and butter. 1 hour back on the smoke to get crispy.

Got a belly at Costco this morning. Good sized one, too... $40!! Cut it in half, vacuum sealed and froze one half and cooked the other.

Yeah, peddling is better. Had a good bike week. Four consecutive days of peddling, 32+ miles. Get a feeling of accomplishment. Yearly physical coming up in a week or two. Be nice to have the cholesterol numbers in line.

I musta pizzed my wife off today ‘cause for some godawful reason, she’s watching the CMA Summer Jam. She knows how I feel about today’s “Country” music, yet she tortures me with this show. Argh!

Well, screw it. I’mma go grab me a seegar, head on out to the garage and finish up the remnants of the Lemon Peel Li Hing Mui Moonshine in the outside refridge.

Swam 1,000 yds. yesterday with hand paddles, pull buoy and some fins. Worked upper and lower body hard. Taking today off.

Heading to Walmart for some produce, then on to Costco and Publix later today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to a nice, long weekend alone with my wife again (as my son is out of town). She's taking Monday (Labor Day) and Tuesday (Rosh Hashana) off.

Went to Costco last night to pick up a brisket to cook for Rosh Hashana. They had ONE flat cut, and it was nearly $12/#. This thing was a bit larger than I needed, but it was $94! That size used to be about $60, and there were always smaller ones in the $35-$45 range... Thanks 'Rona.

For the same $, I could get the full packer cut , but have to break it down myself. I've done it a few times before, but it's 30 minutes of trimming and I am not sure I want to do it this weekend.

Butcher guy said "come back Saturday" when they should have more flats. Maybe more selection of "small family" sized flats to save me some time.

Wife made a homeowners' insurance claim for a single lost diamond stud earing. It was worth more than a complete new set of same or better quality, larger pair, of diamond studs for $350 less at Costco! Less than the one diamond appraised for and we get to keep the other diamond stud too. Win-Win (to me). I just cannot understand some women's emotional connection to certain pieces of 100% replaceable jewelry. Can you guess where we are going tonight?

I had a college friend who considered himself "defeated" if he couldn't get a great parking spot. Like it was a competitive game sport to him. We would spend so much time looking for his "great parking space" that it sometimes exceeded the entire time we spent in the store we were going to. Used to drive me crazy!
