I’m intrigued at the concept of the EB. Don’t want the size and expense of a motorcycle. Scooters are too feminine.
Like peddle power of regular bikes.
Where I can see the advantage is spring/summer/fall transportation to the cigar lounge.
It’s about seven miles, almost exclusively down hill all the way. Going uphill, with a lungful of smoke, through about 12 blocks of a dodgy neighborhood after dark makes me want some extra juice.
It probably shouldn't be as big of a project as I lead on. I think part of the issue is ummm... user error.
Issue #1: Prolly could have bought a smaller battery pack that would have fit better if I took the time to pay attention to what I had for real estate vs what I bought. I bought the biggest one that was rated for the motor - from what I read it's like conservative 30 mile range between charges if I run it full electric and depending on topography.
The main unit also has peddle assist which would increase the range. I haven't hooked that part up yet. Gotta take off a peddle crank arm, slip a collar on the shaft (that's what she said) so it can sense you peddling. You can peddle to save electricity and and have the motor work with you or work full on when you stop peddling then use the throttle - think Prius hybrid type of thing.
Not having this hooked up might why my motor doesn't come alive in my living room bench test. Maybe its for the best. Maybe if it did come alive in the living room, I'd be paying for a new window as my electric bike drove itself through one of the living room windows.
Issue #2: Prolly should have bought a complete package rather than tying to go frugal and buy each component individually. Blindly thought they would be like a Lego kit of plug and play... turns out this is not necessarily true.
